  • hips and abs

  • left to take a piss halfway through the video lol

  • In Sweden there are no term for crunches, we just call them all sit-ups :S

  • @UsedtoWoW Just because you never heard of it doesn't mean they don't exist in Sweden.

  • You should tuck your chin to your chest more and make sure you're back rolls or curls slightly with crunches. Don't stare at the ceiling. Keeping a straight back is counterproductive and can damage your back. citing page 172 Strength training anatomy 3rd ed frederic delavier. UNLIKE just about every other exercise if you don't round your back doing crunches the intervetebral discs will be forced forward possibly leading to compression or shearing at the posterior lumbar vertebral articulations.

  • @mattshark100 Of course everything else scooby says is gold, look at the guy, but he does suffer from a history of back problems.....?

  • @mattshark100 thanks for the info, hopefully i dont screw my back up haha

  • Right Scooby like always ,auf wiedersehen ...

  • Hey Scooby! I found about your videos from a comment on ´´sixpackshortcuts´´ , and im glad i did!

Well anyway to my question- I workout at my local gym, there is a machine there doing a exercise called ´´Abdominal Crunch´´ i´ve done these ever since i started working out (last summer) and im starting to feel pain in my back. Will these crunches u just demonstrated give me more back pain? I heard crunches are bad for your back, is this true?

Thanks in advance! Keep up the good work! :D

  • @Notebook43 Troll

  • Scooby looks way cuter without the hats. Anyone else agree? :)

  • hi plz train me where u live how much u gona charge

  • @xx4yy2u same thing happened to me. U should take a rest it might take a month. Avoid putting pressure on ur back/spine. If u ar gonna do a workouts just do side planks nothing else

  • 37 people are trying to fly

  • i was diagnosed with an indirect inguinal hernia, can I perform abs without any danger to the hernia, and is it possible to even heal it from the abs workout?

  • @xx4yy2u Ask your doctor.

  • OMG I was doing situps for years tryin to get abs thankkin u so much

  • Question: How many reps are we supposed to do?

  • @Cmanisthecoolest This is just a tip video, man. Check out his other ab videos! :)

  • one question because is this method of abs work will only effect the upper part...?

  • i love how every one criticizes scooby for having a weird voice or being on steroids or this or that. who cares if you think he has a weird voice. you on his page because you need help from him. he knows what hes talking about. just because he has a great body at his age doesnt mean he has to take steroids. stfu trolls.

  • Hey scooby I'm 16 and really trying to get my ads up .. I have a six pack but I really want to know a workout that works out my side/exterior obliques ... I've done them before but i wasint satisfied.. I would really like the help . Thanks

  • Does anyone else feel like peeing?

  • This guy knows his stuff... almost every amateur trainers (douchebags haha;; ) that i know dont even know the cardio stuff...

  • Hey Scoob quick question...My coach back in high school taught us to cross our arms over our chest like a mummy for the crunches. Do you think this is effective and would you say it's okay to do these.? YES/ NO, WHY / WHY NOT

  • @alexmaxis17 yes its effective and safe, it makes the crunch more difficult aka better for muscle growth

  • I like his explian about movement

  • LOL VERY GOOD! :) LOOOOOOL

  • scooby is the best!

  • did anyone else have to piss, from the water in the background? :/

  • @tonyrosati46 hell yea i did thats funny

  • I thought I had ab mistakes down, but I do number 3 all the time! Thanks Scooby!

  • Shalom Scooby... Good Job

  • One of my favorite workout videos, it's informative and hysterical! If I lost a pound for every laugh, I wouldn't need to exercise.

  • Are you sayin' "Auf Wiedersehen" at the end?

    Are you German?

  • @KingLaKon and he says alles klar too

  • u can tell u dont even work out your legs what a bitch

  • Hey scooby! why are your abs a bit different, is it genetics?

  • 0:40

  • **Quick Question**

Do you tuck in the stomach when contracting the abs in crunches?

  • 3rd Mistake!! :X

  • How many reps per set of crunches should be done to maximize muscle mass gain?

  • @cheese4927 If you look on his website you can basicly find EVERYTING about gaing muscle and losing fat and it's free it's his way to give back to the community witch he loves

  • am i the only one who kept looking at his chest during this video?;y

  • Is there much point working out your abs when you have some fat there? After a good ab workout i can see them, but my first 4 abs stick out and my last 2 go back in and is covered by fat:/ I am getting frustrated, ive been dieting and working out hard for over 2 years now and i have seen massive improvements, But that last bit of belly and love handle fat will not dissapear! I do over 2 hours of physical activity ever day! However, i am a vegetarian and 15:/

  • why he saying at the end "auf wiedersehen"? is he german?

  • lol you look like ryan reynolds when your upside down

  • nice video bro thanx I was trying to remove my beerbelly with ab training worst mistake XD

  • ...Oh my god, a video where scooby isn't standing.

  • @thizzin909 I have the same problem bro..I really wanna know if it'd genetics or what cuz it looks weird

  • @JayTay000 yeah dude, I also noticed way more people have unaligned abs than straight even abs, its becoming something normal to see but still, I wish mine were even. Correct me if i;m wrong but i think scooby's abs are just like ours.

  • Cover scoobys upper face, love his mouth and chin and watch and enjoy a laugh XD

  • yo scooby, can you do a video on "crooked or unaligned abs"?? u know tell us if we got them by doin our ab workouts incorrectly or genetics or what not?... THANK YOU!! i know all of us with unaligned abs have been needing that closure!!.

  • I think the head nodder is the main cause to the title "painful crunch".

  • @ILegitify With proper nutrition you can gain more muscles than you are gaining fat in relation to your body weight. You can't "burn" fat while getting muscles but you can reduce the percentage of fat in your body.

  • So what are the crunches really for? Strenghtening your abs?

  • scooby i've been reading all over the internet that crunches and situps are considered dangerous because of the strain it places on the lower back. is it safe?

  • I love you man

  • thanks man!!!!! finally! THIS IS SOMETHING! by the way, i've got a question and i'm quite -emo- over it... my bottom 4 packs are even and nice, but my top two ab are not the same size. my top left ab is smaller than the right one. Any idea how do i fix this? Thanks and i hope that you can help me =)

  • @TheRevolutionaryBang thats a genetic issue no way to fix it exept for plastic surgery and even thats not 100% guaranteed

  • did you shoul make a video about questios over you!!

  • Sit ups over crunches for faster ab muscles? of course with doing cardio.

  • @MrELITEGamerHD sit ups work your lower abs and mostly your hip flexors with the addition of putting pressure on your back. Do crunches they work all of your abs do 12 different excercises 10 to 12 reps each, do like 4 hours of cardio a week minimum.

  • @nounever Ok thanks, i do 5 mile run's Monday through Friday,i also was doing 100 sit ups 5 days a week thinking they were better than crunches. But i never like doing them so im glad ill be able to start doing crunches.

  • are people pissing in youre garden :ppp

  • are you german or what ?

  • @micheal3041993 He is Dutch I think, he is originally from the Netherlands.

  • guilty of #3

  • you remind me of john malkovich

  • you remind me of john malkovich

  • Situps workout your hips????

  • @SudanDawah yup

  • running's the best method cardio you can do.

  • hi scooby

my weight is 51 kg and age is 17

so i wanna say that how can i gain weight any exercises ???

becz im doing ur workouts !

  • @naumaanhamid eat more.

  • Who's peeing in the background? for 4 mins?

  • @HugeDeek

my best guess would be Hans, the beer swilling gnome :)

  • hahahahah realy goood video

    common ab mistakes

    thanxxxxxxx 1000000

but i know about this mistakes

  • How many do you do per workout?

  • Would you recommend still doing crunches if you don't have 5-10% bf just so when you do shred the fat you'll have the muscle

  • @MarineCorpUniversity remember that those muscles you build will help you burn that belly fat, so it's always better to combine crunches with cardio :)

  • wait a minute...sit ups arent for abs then?

  • @edwinm1 They hit the abs, but the abs aren't targeted, where as crunches specifically target the abs.

  • shittttt all my effort was in vain....

  • your not trying to fly! haha this guy's hilarious

  • @ericsweds22 what if i am? lol

  • Just look at the ceiling when you do crunches and you should be fine

  • LIKW SPORTACUS FOR GROWN UPS!!!!

  • Thank you so much for the correct advice.........

  • Sounds like someones taking a long piss in the background, LOL!

  • i always find that my neck hurts when i try do this, help?

  • @ElusiveNomad same, i cant find answers!

  • @PissedPigProductions

My friend said maybe try lifting your legs off the ground at a 90 degree angle crossing them over each other then try doing it

  • @ElusiveNomad oh alright i'll try that

  • Thanks so much for this video... of course just how you pointed out all of the mistakes ,, I seeing myself doing just that,,, I made all of the first three... and always wondering why my neck was killing me but I didn't even feel a little burn in my abs... nothing... so I just tried it the way you said too and I finally feel the burn... thanks for your tips.... Vielen Dank!!

  • Nice armpits

  • right, i'm trying to do this but after 30-40 abs my frontal muscle from my neck starts to hurt, am i doing it wrong ? or it's normal to feel that pain

  • I had an old gym teacher who pretty much said the same thing, but he also suggested slowing it down and breathing out when crunching, and breathing in when your shoulders go down. Any thoughts on if that would help increase the benefits of an ab workout?

  • @ohfuzz01

he has already made a video covering breathing. :) i'll try to summarize it:

don't try to breath in sync with the excercise - you'll just comprimise your form when you start to get winded. don't hyperventilate. just breathe normally and make sure you have sufficient airflow.

  • @tucci06. Hey I am only saying the truth,he would have looked soooooooo much better if he had hair, because he looks like a EGG HEAD !!!

  • are someone on the toilet or something? thats sound was annoying

  • Wow, scooby. I just found your videos and I'm amazed how I've never noticed the difference between sit-ups and crunches before. Thanks!

  • @LittleMorgannn

So that when you lose the fat you're abs are toned and defined... rather than just looking like a rake.

  • I got a question, When you do Crunches, The next day I feel some little pain at the first time I do it (I guess its normal) but some days after I get used to it, it doesnt do the same thing like the first time I did.

Do I do it wrong or its normal and I can do it everyday?

  • @silverhedgehog192 It's normal mate, your body is getting used to the exercising at first, try adding a bit more weight (weighted crunches) if it gets to easy.

When you want to pack on more muscle or need more challenge that's what you do.

  • @OmegaPirate Huh? Even when I tried with Higher Weight, it just get worse tought. I feel nothing, except some pain in my back , It does happen sometimes when I do exercices w/o weight and I dont have Back problems.

I even tried the Killer ab workout. I felt something the first time and After I retried it....Nothing.

    Plz help me

  • @silverhedgehog192 Well this is the move you do that is most effective, you don't have to feel pain or soreness everytime you do it, just do them til you can't do no more and don't do them everyday just do them 2 or 3 times a week. So they can repair and grow.

  • @OmegaPirate I got a last question, but Instead I will send a message, I dont think making an Epic paragraph here will be useful xD.

    Sorry Scoob!

  • Why don't you have a hair transplant, you look fucked up without hair!!!!!

  • @doctoc30 It's called getting older for one...and some people like their short if not totally bald...I mean look at all men in the military...ugh why am I even replying to you, that's the dumbest question ever so I'm assuming you're like 12 lol. Oh and hair transplants cost like 15 grand. Guess you really can't make fun of his body so you have to resort to other BS.

  • @doctoc30 no he dosen't.

  • crunches don't remove fat, but they strenghten the ab muscles, which improves posture, right? im thinking the fat appearance is also caused by weakened ab muscles not just by fat. it might help those with beer belly? i mean a lot of people if they force their belly inside by straining their ab they instantly look a lot better..

  • I have the exaccct same plate!

  • ur personality is hilariously contrasting to ur physique. :') thanks for the videos

  • 4:01 i said to myself oh haha Darth Vedar breathing.... then the ending came up.... x_x

  • What is better to lose fat, running or walking?

  • @TheDjshady313 i think that fast walking is best for fat burning.

  • when i do a situp it hurts my tailbone :/ and im not even skinny

  • Does jumping rope for 10 minutes count as cardio or should I work on doing it for longer? It's really hard for me to jump rope and it gets my heart pumping A LOT. Or would I be better off jogging for a half hour? How can I get better at jump rope?

  • @MedievalEscaper I jump rope but I do AT LEAST 20 min of cardio a day. (Whatever kind of cardio is good) Remember that the shorter the time limit, the harder the cardio should be. You can jump rope or jog, I do both. Jumprope is really good for the winter months! It also increases your agility (which is why boxers do it) You can get better at it by holding it in one hand and swinging it to the side of you. Even if you miss timing you wont get caught up.

  • hey scooby. about how long will it take for me to get a 6 pack if i'm doing ab work outs 1s a week for 45. i have done abs on and off for about 4 or 5 mounts but just didn't really work them a lot. i have good abs they just don't show. how long do you think it will be befor they start showing?

  • Can I get strong athletic abs without doing any inverted sit-ups?

  • VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION WOULD IF YOU HAD A THIN LAYER OF FAT ON YOUR ABS WILL THESE AB EXERCISES WORK?

  • Good video. I'm 17 and I've been exercising for about a year but was only introduced to your website recently. It's very helpful and informative so thank you. Now the questions...

In my workout I do like 5 different ab workouts (not one after the other, theyre spread out over about 4 hours). Is this recommended for someone aiming for marathon runner abs?

  • Do crunches produce conditioned muscle or cosmetic muscle?

  • is there a harder ad work out then the last one

  • So whats the point in doing crunches? I just started working out so dont yell at me. xD

  • Why do people doubt on his hard work? Really I mean he worked his ass of for 30 years and if he did steroids at his age he would not look like that

  • But situps work the abs as well, I think? A bit, at least...?

  • thank you scoobie, your videos are great !!!

  • Question: What about the one where you have someone push your legs down and you cant touch the ground, and you have to lift your legs back up to their hands

    does that help?

  • hey man i was just wondering when you said you need to eat better and lots of cardio is skateboarding good cardio cuz i sk8board pretty much everyday

  • @treflipsk8a10 Uphill, yes. Not downhill though.

  • i can bench 240 pounds with my abs i have a massive 6 pack i run 10 K before work and 3K before bed i also go to the gym 5 days a week and Eat nutrional everyday

  • @raidanxxx Cool story bro

  • thanks scooby!! jeezz i made 3 out those 4 mistakes thanks a lot!! :D

  • hello scooby! i'm a fan.

question: so, if you're saying that there is no such thing as spot fat reduction, why do ab exercises then? why not just do a lot of cardio instead?

  • @LittleMorgannn get ripped 6 pack abs.

  • @LittleMorgannn to strengthen your core is the main reason but also to support your lower back

  • @LittleMorgannn do ab excersises so you GAIN muscle no so you can lose fat, in other you do it to make the muscle in your abs bigger.

  • @LittleMorgannn That should be pretty obvious, Cardio reduces the fat covering the Abdominal Muscles, while crunches strengthen and cause the Abs to grow, it's the same principle when trying to build any other muscle..

  • @LokizarroX totally just copied what you said lol. sorry man, didnt see your post.

  • @LittleMorgannn it all depends on what you want to work on; i mean, if you want a lean body with not a lot of muscle tone, but no fat do a lot of cardio. but if you want to lose your fat and gain big muscles do abs. if you want a 6 pack you need to do both. to a certain extent if you do enough abs then it will turn into a cardiovascular exercise as well,

  • @LittleMorgannn to work the abdominal muscle?

  • @LittleMorgannn I can answer that the Cardiobascular exercise (cardio) is use to reduce the fast of the body by sweading but it does not rise the muscular mass much so to make your muscles bigger and stronger you have to make exersice when you make exercise(work up) your muscle is torn apart and when your muscle rebuild it becomes bigger and stronger that is why you should try to combine then both in a routine to be as ripped as Scooby-sensei

  • @LittleMorganm Sorry to interject here scooby but I could not let this one go by-Morgan, remember that we need to distinguish between muscle development and fat loss. Exclusively doing cardio will not give you the abs you want! You do the crunches to develop the ab muscles, and do the cardio to reduce your body fat so all your hard work will show.
