  • It sounds like fun to be able to teach in Korea, but it sounds like it will take so much just to do it, diplomas and all that and I have none of it...:(

  • @Hochichin It's definitely a process but don't let it overwhelm you :)

  • @MAJORTRANSFORMATION Oh I doubt I'll even get the chance to go so I have to envy people who get too go. So yes I am haten on you right now. :) Just teasing.

  • @Hochichin Lol...awwhhh maaaan!

  • @MAJORTRANSFORMATION *big hugs* hope you have a great christmas....now send me an pretty Asian man...I want one for christmas....do it....DO IT!!!

  • @Hochichin Many hugs right back to you and HAHAHAHAHAHA....let me see what I can do

  • @MAJORTRANSFORMATION Oh no now your in trouble cause I will hold you to that one....:)

  • did you take Korean speaking language classes in order to go there to teach? do you need a teaching license just like in the USA or is there a special certificate you needed to obtain? Also how is the fashion and music over there? i'm very interested in this! I'm sure it's a huge culture shock compared to the US. :) Thanks for this video!

  • @Kairibaby990 @Kairibaby990 I didn't take Korean language classes but strongly suggest it. You don't need a teaching license but an ESL certificate (which I did a vid on) is strongly suggested (also increases pay). I may not be your best resource for fashion...lol. There fashion wasn't for me but I did get into some of their music. It's a huge culture shock but that can happen if you go from living in New York to Texas. Thanks for watching!

  • hi! question, did you need your passport to teach in korea? or just a visa?

  • @themiscfiles You need both :)

  • :D when i grow up, i want to do what your doing now! i am also african american :) thank you!!!

  • @souskelover1 Shoot for the stars and glad I could be of some assistance to you :)

  • @disneydiva21 Adventure Teaching

  • I am so glad to have stumbled upon your videos. I'm hoping to have all of my materials together and hope to be on a plane to South Korea no later than August. Unfortunately the FBI background check is taking up lots of time. The Austin job market has not been very kind and I'm ready for a bit of adventure. I may use your recruiter. Anyway, I love your attitude, verve, and wish you the best in any future endeavors!

    Cheers!

  • @SoyLaBonBon Thank you so much. Have you made the trip yet?

  • @MAJORTRANSFORMATION I am typing this response in my apartment in 익산 Korea! I love it here! I have made so many new friends (mostly Koreans!), am trying (very poorly) to learn some Korean and practice my

한글! I didn't experience any of the culture shock I read about and found myself embraced and experiencing without hesitation (I went to a B Boy Grand Prix!). I could quite honestly see myself staying here for quite some time! Thanks again for your information and inspiration. Cheers!

  • Hmm.. I am not sure if it's cheap to live in Korea. Which city did you live in? I would imagine it can be pretty cheap if you live outside of the major cities. if you goto the expensive side of Korea, especially southern part of Seoul, things become exponentially expensive! Eating out can be very cheap, but it can also be very expensive as well depending on where you choose to dine (in Seoul). A few years back I remember paying as much as 15 USD for a cup of coffee at a cafe in Seoul!

  • @james519 Thanks for another view. I lived in Yeoju but spend money in the major cities (i.e. Seoul) I believe each person's financial focus & the places you go takes part in whether you view where you live as inexpensive or not. I never paid that much for a cup of coffee in Seoul or anywhere else I travelled in Korea. My friends and I usually chose to go to places that would be easy on the pockets because most of us were saving for something and/or paying off debt.

  • @MAJORTRANSFORMATION Oh yes :D I am a poor student in lots of debt too and I would never ever spend that kind of money on a cup of coffee but luckily my living cost was fully paid by the company I was doing my co-op placement in so I got to go to a lot of fancy places with my colleges. It was a lot of fun and the food was delicious. I'd love to visit again :D

  • @james519 That's awesome. So you went through a college program? I think your experience is something those looking at my video need hear about. I get asked about it all the time and honestly have no information. Thanks for the feedback and wish you well :)
