If you like the sound of that last post check out Matthew Herbert.. he basically does that but with an entire orchestra playing live. It doesnt quite have the edge and grit of this but nevertheless interesting.
He was either using pedals or sound tech was manipulating sounds- come one, people, wipe jonny's gizz off your tongues and watch his hands. The sounds don't match up with the placement of his fingers. Either way, it fuckin' rocks.
"The guitar-work at the end of this track was achieved by Jonny Greenwood playing a sequence of random notes on his guitar that were being processed through a digital patch for software called Max/MSP, which is musical software frequently used by electronica or experimental artists."
but because johnny is so amazing he puts tom in a coma with his mind powers. but then johnny because he is such a great guy takes him out of the coma. but leaves tom with no dick =]
@Tyger2393@Tyger2393 I love Tom Morello as the day is long, but I hope you are aware how amazing your comment was. There should be an infinite number of thumbs up on that bad boy.
sometimes the perform of the band is soooo much different when they play on live. But this time no.. it's good but it's bad too!! anyway this is my favorit song of radiohead....
OMG WTFFF :DDD That was amazing. Literally Radiohead and maybe Nine Inch Nails are the only bands to me where i can watch one of their performances and think that they're so amazing... Then watch another live performance of theirs and be even more amazed. They put unique touches on all their performances that differ from all the rest. Kinda like jazz.
Jonny's solo is based on a Max/MSP program running on a Mac. He sends the signal of the guitar to the Mac and activates the program by a MIDI Footswitch.
johnny solo in this video was influenced (or you can also say he ripped it off) from a Talking Heads song "Born under punches" off the Remain in Light album, where the same effect was used except through a keyboard instead of a guitar as shown in this performance. so not so original as you guys speak of. but it is still a bad ass song and i am still a huge fan of radiohead.
cept it goes back to 4/4 when it goes into the whole 'we don't want a. . .' part of the song
not too difficult, most people just aren't used to listening to songs with time signiatures that are either not 4/4 or 3/4 or songs which change between the two
Mm, my favourite example of that is easily The Becoming by Nine Inch Nails. For the first few listens it seems confusing as hell but I think it really works.
Time signature changes are tricky to pull off for a band usually, which is probably why I love them so much.
It just really depends how well the people you're playing with know the song and whether or not they have a decent sense of rhythm, from my experience.
Johnny boy earned his crust THAT evening! The Johnny Johnny 'prone to fits' Greenwoodster fuckin threw a fit and a protest against 'cunts in suits' with that little pluck of the old 'honda' stickered bigbanjo!

if you never play an instrument it's hard to understand why rhythems can be so hard.
