@MangaNewb Lol thanks for the massive compliments, but no way I'm not, I was only 14 when I made this video. xD And I've gotten a lot better since then. Check out my new stuff when you have the time. :D
Me 2. Earlier this year, I could only draw stick men and thought that I would never have any talent. So I just stopped trying to be better and, ironically enough, just by watching anime and taking little notes about how to do certain things, I learned how to draw! I can draw better than most people in my school now! The only problem is that I can only draw well when I don't try to. Why I try to focus, I get proportions wrong. So I end up having to enter a music-induced trance 0_o
That's great! I'm glad you learnt how to draw. :D A word of warning, however:Starting out drawing from anime was the worst mistake I've (and many others) made thus far.
That's interesting. "Music induced trance", you say? How would it work?
Are you getting the proportions all wrong when you focus because you're not focusing on the whole picture, but only on a small part of the picture?
Anyway, would love to see your art someday. :D Keep drawing!
Wow! You just revealed the cause of my problem! I focus on a small part of the picture and end up messing up my proportions. Having ADHD doesn't help because I can't see the whole thing at once.
As for the music, I listen to punk and alternative rock (Three Days Grace is what got me started doing that trance thing.) and the images just come to me.
And what did you mean learning by watching anime was a bad idea? And what about manga?
The problem from learning to draw straight from anime/manga is that anime is a stylized version of reality. How are you going to draw a stylized version of reality when you can't even draw reality itself? It would be like trying to build a stable building on sand. So I advise you to start drawing from real life subjects starting now. Get your foundations first, and then build on it. Phenomenal improvement is almost always guaranteed.
I considered that. But what exactly do you mean when you say reality. Do you mean like life-like portraits? I suppose learning something of such an obscene level of difficulty would make learning anime and manga seem much easier. I could go for art classes but my parents won't support me in that aspect. I'm not sure if I should spend the money I'm saving for a digital tablet to go to those classes. So how exactly did you learn to draw 'reality'?
It doesn't only make it easier, it is absolutely essential if you want to level up exponentially. xD
You don't need classes. I'll tell you how to start. Take any photo, and start trying to put your chosen subject on paper, shading and all. And do it over and over and over again, and along the way you'll learn. That's a simplified version of this whole shiz. I'll talk to you via pm.
cool

Go for the tablet! It's much more worth it.

really neat, but i dont see how guidelines are a bad thing since almost all comic and manga artists use them.

Oh, of course it's a great tool... For someone who knows how to use them. I do not and still don't (except for perspective lines of course).
