  • i <3 nicola benedetti

  • why is so hard to realised, that it is not a mix of few composers (even Chausson, Debussy, Bartók), but it is real and independent genius - Karol Szymanowski?

  • prodigy

  • The violins must have a pretty nice view....

  • Who´s conducting? Ilan Volkov?

  • BOSKIE :)

  • I did not know that the most chilling part would start at 2:15, a really shivering section for me, but I love it / her

  • Great performance. But I prefer Szymanowski's 2nd violin concerto over this one.

  • A beautiful work ,a marvelous violin performance, a breathe of fresh air from

the same old same old worn out violin works .

  • At 1:45 it kinda sounds like an Indiana Jones score.

  • the symphony is not up to par with this beautiful soloist.

  • My Mum taught her and Nicola played at her wedding when she was 12. Love her!

  • Jak na polskich łąkach

  • ...i think i'm in love...

  • Absolutely amazing, about the best ever rendering of this concerto

  • At 2:14, she looks like she's thinking, "Oh shit, I hope I don't mess up!"

  • She's amazing! Love Nicola's work

  • She looks pissed the entire time lol even if your concentrating try and smile once or twice :)

  • Impresionante colores y orquesta Nicola Benedetti lleva el tension distension y misterio propio de este concierto de Szymanowski

  • It is very funny that people are still trying to high brow like it is just a coincidence that she has a nice rack. Suddenly all the greatest female violinists have great bodies - funny that. Admit it classical music lovers are just as shallow as everyone else on the planet.

  • @WillShakespeare2007

So you think that this wonderful playing is merely due to Miss Benedetti being what PG Wodehouse would have referred to as a 'corker'????

  • @kzt333 No I am saying that Classical music and those that buy it are just as crass when it comes to sex as the rest of the music industry. Bond are naked on their album cover and that even tops Lady Gaga in the like are bodies buy our records and you are just that little bit closer to having sex with us stakes. I just find it funny that middles aged lawyers are just as pathetic as 15 year old boys when it comes to a pair of tits on a musician.

  • @WillShakespeare2007

I am not a lawyer and most defintiely middle aged but while I can perceive beauty and appreciate it when I see it I can also admire excellent musicianship. Yes of course there is a difference between Vengerov and Bell, Argerich and Landowska, Pogolerich and Bishop Kovakevich! The list is endless.

Sex sells but do not hold that against Ms Benedetti please

  • @kzt333 No of course I don't hold her beauty against her but I do feel a little sorry that the door has now fully closed for less attractive musically gifted women even in classical music. I also find it a little funny that the superior attitude of classical music fans goes out the windows when you have more naked chicks on your album covers than Rock music in the 70's.

  • @WillShakespeare2007

    naked chicks on classical covers????

Tell me more? Does it apply to both sexes?

  • @kzt333

  • just seen her perform this tonight in Kirkwall, Orkney at the St Magnus Festival. WOW - she was AMAZING!!

  • just seen her perform this tonight in Kirkwall, Orkney at the St Magnus Festival. WOW - she was AMAZING!!

  • You did a good job with the edit ...

  • she's hot

  • I did this piece for my Grade 1

  • Wow, it's like Lutoslawski collided with Alban Berg and Debussy. Nice

  • Magnificent

  • Concerto 1 or 2 - I think Szymanowski wrote 2 violin concertios, nyet?

  • i'm pretty sure that this is concerto no.1

  • wow this is a really beautiful piece, in a weird way haha

  • WHAT A MUSICIAN.

    I LIKE HER.

  • She is really great, and knows, how to play Him. She understands this music, which is full of emotions, full of extasy, of love..

  • Well thank you sir.

  • Saw her last night on "The Proms" ........ she is truly gifted.

  • I think that Szymanowski's music is very challenging for the listener. It has many influences--the lyricism of a Chausson, the perfume of a Debussy, the harsh realities of a Bartok. It is troubled and troubling music. But so well worth one's time.

Many thanks for uploading this marvelous interpretation.

  • This violin concerto of Szymanowski has roots in the music of the Tatra region - Zakopane, Poland. The concerto is certainly challenging but Nicola's interpretation is fantastic. She is playing with a strong hand, as it should be played, in my opinion. Super!

  • @ipmoic Very true. For me it also has a lot in common with Stravinsky

  • @ipmoic It is clear...it is a clear song,the violin is a river of thoughts,they happen following a line

  • This piece is brutal.

  • You are brutal writing sth like that..!

  • YOu are brutal, writing sth like that!

  • I'd sell my soul to play like this.

  • XOXO

  • I absolutely love this!! she's amazing, i am transfixed by her playing !

  • She is TRULY EXQUISITE ! StringDokter

  • Such a beautiful and profound piece of work. I love Szymanowski's music and it's great that his music is getting air time.

Nicola is a beautiful and talented soloist who presents the work in such a sophisticated and grand way. Bravo!

  • I like it

  • Certified Intergalactic! Now, I can appreciate Szymanowski. With Benedetti playing, I can listen to this over and over.

  • I remember seeing Nicola Benedetti play at Proms in the Park in Belfast and she was simply amazing.

  • It's nice to read so many kind post. Beautiful piece of music.

  • yeah! It is as if I am seeing a beautiful nymph playing a violin music

  • She is so beautiful, musically-gifted, and dare I say it--sexy. She will give, if she hasn't already, Sarah Chang and Hilary Hahn a run for their money.

  • I love this!!! amazing! xxx

  • If this is a "young musician"performance it's amazingly good. Not just fine playing but also fine "feeling" very difficult to catch in this elusive masterpiece, which, IMO, has always been best interpreted by women! The orchestra, proficient tho a bit stiff & unmagical prevents the extatic phrases from soaring even higher. I tried not to look & be too influenced, but truly she has an unusual beauty & hypnotic presence.

  • Such a beautiful concerto!!

  • beautiful girl beautiful music

  • The mystical and haunting - truly magnificent - atmosphere of Szymanowski's beloved Tatra mountains is pervasive in this concerto. Who knows the mountains cannot disagree, I think.

  • You are amazing!

  • Very nice :-)

  • never met anyone who works so hard and sacrificed so much. best of luck to the girl in the future.

  • I know this is irrelevant, but i has to be said; she is gorgeous :o

  • Great young player... Great future....

    Italian blood.........

    Ciaoooooooooooooooooo

  • whoops typo

  • very good performance and yes :the composer is underrated ,he is one of the truly great ones of the 20th century.I am sure he will eventually be recognized for what he is:a genius!

  • Love her vi-bra-to. :-)

  • she's hot

  • The first time I've given this a focused listen. Very nice music--brilliant, complex somehow staying melodic.

And Benedetti's handling of the instrument: wonderfully relaxed, not over-done, and really effective.

  • TsaoTnOkivA...

It's a 24 minute piece with no breaks. You can only upload 10 minutes so unfortunately it has to be cut somewhere. I spent AGES trying to decide on this.

  • @Oxy151268 ..

and you did it well, i really like it =)

    thanks for uploading it!!

  • @Oxy151268 You did very well. Thank you for posting this beautiful performance of one of the most memorable of Twentieth Century pieces.

  • Thank you for posting. I am a fan of the violinist Regina Carter however it is wonderful seeing so many young people with the talent too. Thank you for sending chills up my spine!

  • My favourites are Katherine J, and Milica Ilic, she's truly beautiful and of course Nicola, she's stylish.

  • That's utter crap, she is gorgeous and like Katherine, Milica, Natasha and Hayley is destined for the stars. They happen to have the looks, and the talent.

  • Not a big powerful sound but it's sweet and mesmerizing I like it. Good if she makes ugly faces she's focused on making music not being pretty. She is workin that dress to full effect though and there is nothing wrong with that either!!!!

  • hahaha, she looks a bit like a gremlin when she makes those faces =P

  • My favorite szymanovski piece...

  • i've totally met her before, she so sweet

  • ta mas wena ke una panchá de kagar!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you so, so much for uploading this video!! You made my day on June 16th! Nicola Benedetti is such an amazing violinist. She has been a true inspiration to me since the day I first discovered her in a documentary. She plays this concerto with so much passion and beauty! I can't wait for her third cd to be released!

  • when she performed this, did she have her Stradivarius, or was she loaned it after she won?

  • i like her dress its really nice

  • her hand is like a butterfly on the fingering board

  • That's what I was thinking! It's beautiful!!!!!
