I highly appreciate this. It's nice to know that the pre-movie images and such are still around. I was a fan of the story LONG before the movies and I remember the beautiful illustrations... While this is clearly not the real trailer-- remember how far in advance the trailer for The Lord of the Rings showed up in theaters? I do. It was a good year before the first of the trilogy was ever released. So it isn't impossible for a trailer to be released very early. However, considering they haven't even started filming yet (starts February 2011), there isn't footage for the film.

It'll be another couple of years, Peter Jackson is currently casting for it, auditions were held over the past year before the director pulled out this year. But Peter Jackson seems determind to bring it forward rather than to a halt. Here's hoping he just takes it on and we all know he'd make an amazing job of the 2 films!!

@0neRing in the hobbit bilbo leaves to go with the dwarfs when he is in his 50's so ian holm would be 1st choice to play bilbo , like in the 1st lotr , (fotr) you see when bilbo 1st finds the ring in the misty mountains and guess what its ian holm. so now we've seen bilbo played by ian holm 1st finding the ring why would we want 2 see someone else play bilbo ! i would like to see the same actors play in the hobbit that were in lotr .

Allan Lee's art work is amazing he makes Tolkien's world jump off the page, and become real. I thank god ( or whatever.) for making Tolkien and Lee. Without them I wouldn't be going to school to become a author/illustrator.

i accept the movie was no good, and much less the terrible music, but i love this movie; i watched like a hundred times as a kid when an uncle gave it to me after he learned i was reading the book. this song and the movie both mean a great deal to me. unfortunately, as we moved from one house to another, i lost the book and the movie with it around the beginning of this past decade. i will definitely be buying this crappy movie next chance i get; i've already got the book (fourth edition)

This video is brilliant. Perfect for a trailer because the artwork depicts all the scenes that should be in the movie, should they choose to (and succeed in) make a newer version. The music is perfect. Not only does it carry a message for us, but it's a perfect theme for The Hobbit. Not to mention that it's simply an awesome song and amazing artwork. :)

yes, i remember this song from when the hobbit cartoon premiered back in the 1970s and i was severely disappointed with it.

do not get me wrong, i loved the book as a kid and read it several times but HATED the cartoon movie because it was so lame. later as a teenager i read the lord of the rings books and then the silmarillon and thoroughly enjoyed them. for the most part the 3 movies that were made by peter jackson did a decent job and i am just hoping that they make the hobbit movie as good
