@stamp007 You can't really expect your average high school student to spend the time AE etc requires. iMovie and WMM are very basic programs but thats an advantage as well as a hindrance. At least kids who don't have the time or passion to learn professional software can still have the joy of making a video. You never know, it could become a gateway tool which gets them to go on to more complex software once they have the basics down.

It can do SOME of what Vegas can. Just like Vegas can do SOME of what AE can. But they are two different programs designed for two totally different things. Final Cut 7 is probably the easiest video editor to pick up and use, Final Cut X is a piece of crap.

@RCFx27 Final Cut and Sony Vegas are both Video Editors. If that is what you're looking for and you have a Mac get Final Cut 7, DO NOT get Final Cut X. If you have a PC go with Vegas. There is also Adobe Premiere, which is for PC and Mac. After Effects is for composting meaning "bringing different elements together" it's primarily used for special effects and motion graphics.
