  • Meh, I like the PC version better.

  • This is just awful compared to the PC version.

  • @hellomoto75 i think it is the opposite.

  • @21saladin12 You're in the minority

  • @hellomoto75 did i forget to mention that i prefer the PC deus ex soundtrack/theme over this one ?

  • The malkavian mod has made the dialogue impossible to take seriously anymore XD

  • I have to say, after watching all PS2 intro / outros and those of the PC version, I like the PC versions more. They're not as visually appealing as the PS2 versions, but in the PS2 versions important speeches have been cut in order to reduce the length of the cutscenes.

I personally think, some character and individuality of the speaking characters is lost due to that. :/ Also, what @Alerommel1 said!

  • The PC version is better, but they shouldve had sixths Cinematic for the intro instead of whats given in the game

  • Pretty good version, but to be honest the PC version seems more dynamic to me. I don't know if it is the fact that the music here is a bit underwhelming, but the other version, has a much more intense feel to it.

  • Intro music was better in the PC version IMHO.

  • I prefer the PC version with the uncensored full dialogue, plus more evocative music.

But this PS2 version is good to play even once if only for the different maps/layouts.

  • At 1:21 is that Megan Reed 20 years later?

  • @miketwng No, just another female researcher

  • Why contain it?

    S'cool.

  • The pc cutscene looks beter this one makes too mutch mistery of how they look im "HD"

  • Well, there is ONE good thing about this that the PC ver doesn't have, the awesome cinematic intros :D

  • The new intro cinematic of PS2 doesn't have the same music of the original. Anyway, full render cinematics are pretty good!

  • I guess someone didn't like the "Let it spread to the schools and churches" line.

  • Are your expositional speeches lacking a certain something? New from Deus Ex Industries, impress your henchmen with the Exposition Enhancher Wall Screen(tm), underscore everything you say with thematically appropriate imagery.

  • Press 9 for GODS!!!

  • We had to endure much you and I, but within the week there will be old men, running the world.

  • The characters have Quebecor Accents! :D

  • @InfernalAdventure quebecers and no they don't, I do

  • One thing I do like about this version is the slow switching of the monitors to form the hand at the end. Other than that, most of the changes here are either pointless or make it worse.

  • Why does Walton Simmons sound like he has a cold???

    Awesome voice anyway

  • Page looks too athletic

  • This intro has a lot more flow than in the original, and the way the abridged dialogue plays leave's the player a lot more in the dark about what's going on which is really good for the mystery aspect.

I don't know why I see so many people complaining about these rendered scenes in the PS2 version. I think it's nice that they took the extra effort in some areas in light of being unable to reproduce many aspects of the original due to hardware limitations. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

  • Why did they remove two lines from Bob Page? I can see them being a bit vulgar maybe but not to be extremely controversial.

  • @buffyou101 As said before, the original intro was a bit too revealing.

  • Who is the guy with the black trench coat? The one with the veins popping out?

  • @TheUnholyBovine Walton Simmons.

  • Although I must admit that I have been somewhat disappointed in the cut lines.

  • @MarioWars we should have the secondary unit within weeks ... NOT MONTHS ...

  • why contain it... it'school..

  • I just got this game on ps2 and it is a masterpiece not as good the PC but still great.

  • Hmmm, that wasnt more efficient. They actually chopped out a lot of plot when they made that video. In addition to the actual game play being worse I'd say the PS2 version should be skipped over.

  • Thaks for a video but seriously PC intro is much better

  • There's one more cut line that wasn't mentioned. After Simon's "I'm more worried about Savage" he states "He's relocated to Vandenburg."

  • Deus Ex is in my top ten, watch it!

    /watch?v=nrzSi_9oYXE

  • @jesse78156 Err, why the 360 specifically? Would make more sense to make it multiplatform with PC as primary.

  • they should remake deus ex for the xbox 360

  • i havent played neither versions but i am soon gonna buy the ps2 version. people are saying the ps2 version is dumbed down. how is it dumbed down from the pc version? someone please tell me?

  • @xFIRERUSHx

No body damage (ie: it's just a health bar not 6 different body that can get damaged and deteriorate your overall effectiveness.)

Simplified inventory ( I'm not sure, but I think it might suffer from the old soy food vs flamethrower = same weight, same size.)

    smaller maps, more loading screens

    no mods

    Maybe try reading this topic:

  • @JCPhoenix yes but it has cinimatics unlike the pc ver

  • I'm a little jealous the PS2 got a cinematic intro....but I still love the PC version.

  • I think its ridiculous how you clip a few needless lines and everyone completely disregards the rest of the video's quality because of some fanboyish purism.

  • I remember the very first time I saw this when I played this game, the hair on my body was standing up. I think it was the collection of videos, the dark room meeting, and the moody dramatic music that did it. I mean, they just went straight forward and opened up the "We're in deep shit". book.

  • Although graphically better...... PS2 intro SUCK A GIANT RICHARD. The most important and atmospheric sentences were cut out ("but the world left them a long time ago. We are the future" -- my favourite). And the MUSIC! In the PC version the music in the background (my favourite from the whole game btw) gave this impression of a real dystopia that people from above created and all this apocalyptic stuff. Here? Please, it looks like a beer commercial, not intro to a DX game

  • The other dude sounds a lot like Neo!

  • Wow this is truncated badly. What ham-fisted editing. If I might engage in a little hyperbole it's like somebody decided the Mona Lisa looked better Blonde, and just started painting over the original.

  • Proof of how console games are dumbed down. Luckily this was FROM PC to console. But nowadays it's CONSOLE to PC - so PC gamers now have to play crappy dumbed down games!

  • Could have done without the commentary balloons.

  • @Aggedor1959

Dialogue looking box in the right-bottom corner of the screen.

  • @Aggedor1959 Without them you would have missed the extra dialogue cut out form the PC/Mac version.

  • This PS2 version is really bad...

  • the PS2 version intro, not bad

  • @MVA15SEAL you will get a thumbs up... within the week.

Walton Simons: no, within six months.

  • Visually it's better, but why cut the lines? At least they didn't do new voiceovers...

  • I prefer the intro to the PC version.

  • they 'fixed' the epic intro theme...zomfg

  • shitty remake of a great game

  • Why did they feel the need to change the intro and endings in the PS2 version? I mean there was nothing wrong with them and IMO I actually think they were done better on the PC, also what the hell is up with the cut lines?

  • lol want it for pc

  • I can'y understand why them lines were cut out for the ps2 version. Those two voice actors were by far the best in the game. The more they talk the better

  • @40390576 lol =D

  • @40390576 i was waiting for that line to be cracked, and yet it wasnt XD

  • Whats up with the horrible voice acting?

  • I may have only discovered this game just now (please don't hurt me) but as far as I can tell it doesn't look half bad.

So the premise is that a virus is killing most of earth's populace and these guys secretly have the cure for it which they'll use to take over the world? Did I get that right?

  • @shanez1313 The government is run by a secret organization which manufactured the virus, but otherwise yeah you get the gist of it.

  • better than kings... GODS !

  • Great intro to an amazing game that never dies. Though it makes me wonder if we will see Simons or Page in Human Revolution, possibly before they get all powerful and such. Same about if the attack on the Statue of Liberty will be seen, considering UNATCO is somewhat formed after it's attack, if I read and remember correctly.

  • GODS!!! 2:10-2:11.

The most majestic moment in the history of game trailers.

  • sry, i mean 1:57-1:59

  • Are there any large differences between Deus Ex and Deus Ex: The Conspiracy? I'm planning on getting one of them, but I'm not sure which one to get. Though I'm leaning to the original.

  • nice how at 1:46 he points at the illuminati symbol in the corner while saying "a new age". The creators of this game really understood how the world rolls. looking forward to ex machina, should be again an outstanding game like this was. at least an interesting story despite all the console kiddy stuff around lately.

  • WTF this PS version SUCKS...Why wasn't there only the PC version?? This version is sooo depressing and annoying... It doesn't look like Deus Ex at all. PS version has annoying graphics...

  • The way it zooms in on bob page's and walton simon's mouth is just creepy; camera should've stayed the same

  • This is inferior to original intro in almost every way.

  • Even though it has worse graphics I still prefer the original intro by far. Also why the hell did they cut so many lines and change the music?

  • the first 2 lines are good but the other 2 that ot cut out are not as major

  • The removed sections were cut because they gave away too much of the plot. I think the cinematic version is better. It blends together more fluidly.

  • This version is a travesty! The PC intro might not be as "flash", but it is much more more engrossing. The voice acting in this one is all wrong, the people sound as if they are VOICE ACTORS. The PC version's voice acting carries the story much better, and it actually has MUSIC. This Playstation intro is like GAME INTRO, and reminds me of the intro to Tekken 3 more than Deus Ex. What a let down.

  • @KeyserSoze93 its the same voiceactors lmao

  • i actually think it's better than the PC vision myself,

it doesn't give away the plot and Page can move his arms now, the PCs animations were just lame.

  • This intro is TERRIBLE compared to the PC one. What happened to the awesome music and half the dialogue??

  • if only they didn't cut the lines out this scene it would have been epic!

  • Comment removed

  • Only JC/Helios deserves to be called a god. To hell with the Illuminati.

  • this sucks....love the PC intro

  • removed lines :Oh yes. Most certainly. When I mentioned we could put him on the priority list for the Ambrosia vaccine, he was so willing it was almost pathetic. Why contain it? Let it spill over the schools and churches, let the bodies pile up in the streets. In the end they'll beg us to save them. Bunch of pretentious old men playing at running the world. But the world left them behind long ago. We are the future.

  • Hate the way swine flu is seen as something unusual, lol @ our spoiled lives where we cry fowl of death from anything other than severer old age.

Its a Miracle that with a population of nearing 7Billion something like this has not come up sooner. Though nature has its ways/ and I don't think 15billion people is possible so.....

  • Although it doesn't explain as much as the original, I think this version actually sounds alot more like a conversation. Simons explaining UNATCO to Page is incredibly clunky.

  • it really sucks that they cut out those first two lines by bob page. they were critical to establishing his character as a heartless madman.

  • @spamtrooper1 I think the contrary. I think the lines they removed made him seem less ridiculous.

  • 1 second after 1:25. Does Simons use so much breath in speaking that part of his coat blasts forward?

  • its .......diet deus ex

  • Those notes... they like censored some lines in the PS2 version? i mean, that of the churches and schools, or the attack to the statue... maybe they thought it was a bit, you know... But what's the point? They are the evil guys, they have to sound evil saying evil things!

  • Exactly. It sucks that they ruined it by removing all the spice. Look at the lines removed, it feels so much more powerful with them in when you watch the real intro.

  • SO.. they used the Invisible War assets to make a a trailer for the original?

  • If only they'd kept the original wording and scenes but updated the graphics this would have been fantastic. The original was a classic.

The woman jumping back from the Greasel glass makes no sense, though- the Greasels would have had to be loose for that to happen, meaning they'd not even have had a door between them and the security/maintenance/admin staff.

  • this version looks 1000 times better then the pc version if only they didnt cut all those lines it made it lose some of its epic feel

  • Every time I watch this intro, I think about how amazing the game was and shivers shoot down my spine. This has got to be one of the best games I've ever played.

Albeit, the PC version of the intro was more conclusive - and ultimately more rewarding than the PS2 version.

  • Most underrated game of all time. 2nd was chrono trigger

  • Chrono! Marle!

  • Hmmm, I hope you're not....

GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE DENTON!!!!!

  • Desperate.

  • Your turn.

  • Hmm, I actually like this version compared to the PC version. Definitely more movie-like and suspenseful, particularly not seeing Page and Simons' faces up front. The use of the TV screens to portray their points of discussion is clever as well - it ties all the events of the world together and is a smooth presentation.

  • The only aspect this version could be superior based on in the lip syncing. It does not compare.

  • What a shame.

  • Why contain it....? It's cool!

  • oh yes...

  • This version of the game is the one I have. They cut stuff in the PS2 version?

  • yeah, and quite a lot. Look out for the PC version here, it's far superior imo

  • The intro has much more power in the pc version.

  • it's so true

  • Why has some of the dialogue been cut? PC original is by far superior.

  • The fact that in the PC original, the cutscene was made in in-game graphics. It was set in an area you would later visit in the game. I thought that made it something special on the pc, when you first entered that area. Something that won't happen with this rendered video I guess.

  • swine flu viruses have a very hard time surviving in our noses

  • The original PC dialogue is better. This is just cut and paste. I mean... it sounds wrong.

  • I prefer the original dialogue, it helped build up the drama more. though the FMV defnitely makes the scene come alive visually far more than the original opening

  • deus ex 3 is made by shit developers eidos montreal if they wreck this game they should close down

  • But they never will... Gaming has been adapted for the masses. Only a few developers remain strong. Bethesda Softworks is even starting to crack on the elder scrolls. Thank god Fallout 3 made it out!!!

  • Yes ive heard they are using a TOMB RAIDER ENGINE... wtf i would say this really sounds like insta fail -.-

Also Women play a bigger role in DX3 and Nano tech is not developed far enough for nano augs, you will play a "mech". So it sounds like one other plain Ego shooter wich just is about aktion and shooting up stuff. Just it has the Name DeusEx...

  • Exactly my friend. Exactly. Just the name.

  • My mate still hasn't played deus ex. Whats he waiting for?!

  • You must be some kind of socially inept retard.

  • @umyafzal

for you to return it back to him?

  • Such an awesome introduction.

  • dnt spoil it but do the endings have any diologe cuts aswell ?

  • i dont think so

  • Yes, there's a scene for each ending scenario.

  • it is a shame the bits they cut out but it still pretty cool , i hope they didnt cut bits out of the ending otherwise it will ber way to short

  • They cut too much out!

  • shame they didn't have this in pcp version

  • I personally prefer this intro over the original. The original struck me as a little long winded although they are both good.

  • I prefer the original.

Lets make a new comparisson when the Deus Ex HDTP project is ready.

  • If I remember correctly (and I probably am not) that mod is soon to be merging with Deus Ex Reborn, and they are thinking about possibly using these movies. Although I suggested having it as optional. Although that is something that they will be worrying about a while down the road.

  • o yea i no this seems like spam but deus ex 3 2010

  • lets hope they dont screw up dx 3....

  • I also like this version aesthetically. It's a lot more dynamic, the characters in the original were mostly just standing around, and it doesn't show Page and Simons as explicitly, leaving a bit more mystery to the rest of the game.

Altough Page's nodding at the end of his sentences is silly :)

  • Deus ex is my favourate game ever, the diversity and attentino to detail is remarkable given its age, i think it could be one of the best games ever made

  • Wow - compared to the PC intro this is terrible. Way to butcher the intro. (Not the poster, but whoever made the PS2 port)

  • What the hell are you talking about, that was way better than the pc version.

  • why do u think its better than the pc version i mean it looks better but they cut sum cool lines out of it

  • i meant the intros and cutscenes looked good, i didn't mean it was better than the pc version.

  • deus ex, such a wonderful game.

  • Better graphics in n the intro is due to cheating it's video and not in game graphics.

  • Even with all that extra stuff, I still say the PC version is better. All those graphics, interface, soundtrack, and maps for me still couldn't quite compensate for the cuts in the dialogue in the PS2 version compared to the PC version. It just seems so incomplete with those cuts...

  • I disagree that the PS2 intro is more dramatic. A lot of the lines that were cut really emphasized Page's ruthlessness and lust for power which added to the drama ie. "Let it spill into the schools and churches" and the line where he stresses "WE are the future".

  • The reasons you use for the PS2's intro being better are weak. I've explained why the PC intro is more dramatic. Also, graphics are irrelevant - everything ages and that's not an excuse of why something newer is better.

I'm not saying the PS2's intro is bad. I actually much prefer the conversation in the conference room over the MJ12 lobby and I love the idea of the multiple screens showing the details of their discussion. But the exclusion of a few important lines really makes a difference.

  • Improvements? aren't areas like liberty island 5 separate maps, instead of... 1? Also the graphics from gameplay videos never looked very good to me, just some better animations... Not to mention the graphics and gameplay, especially aren't better with things like The new HD methods, HDTP/NV, advanced renderers.... Shifter, Hardcore, Smokes mod, spell mod, etc

I suppose it's all up to personal preference, but I couldn't see being without locational damage, in return for 'simplfied interface.'

  • Ha, how much replics was been cut, this sucks! Censorship?

  • I prefer the dialogue for the PC opening, cutting the lines removes some of the better moments of the scene IMO

  • Better graphics, but I only played it when my PC didn't work with me.

  • I much preferred the original, even today.

  • Agreed. The only neat thing that I wished was in the PC version is how the ending of the introduction cut-scene mirrors the Illumanti's ending cut-scene. It makes JC and Morgan further look like they've become exactly what they've tried so hard to destroy.

  • I like the annotations, for the record!

  • Funny how the part of the intro which talks about how UNATCO was established because of the terrorist attack on the Statue of Liberty was left out of this version. Kinda like how Homeland Security was established after the attack on the WTC. The game came out in 2000--weird huh?
