It is getting warmer, and all of the glaciers are melting, it's not rocket science, or even theory based, they have core drilled deep into the glaciers to determine their age, much like a tree, and can see under a microscope the deeper they go, the less carbon in the ice. The increase in carbon is the culprit, the emissions we put in the air settle in the ocean you know, it doesn't just stay in the air

There are plenty of scientists who have been studying the glaciers at the polar ends, and the data says that the glaciers are melting at an unprecedented rate. Today, the threats of global warming have been well established for 20 years. Personally, i could not imagine anybody thinking that there was a global cooling, especially since we are still in an interglacial period. I can't believe some people still believe Global Warming is actually happening. Thousands of scientists and professionals have come out to say that they disprove of the governments research. The only research the government has provided is from computer simulators, which can easily be altered and are highly unlikely to provide REAL evidence. Before any action was taken, proof should have been provided. I have been waiting for almost 20 years to see it. I know of one study that shows man made effects are a small fraction of one percent. Swamps areas in Louisiana, Florida, release massive methane, seawater evaporation in the worlds oceans constantly releases chlorine gas. And the ozone concept is even still unproven.

@thrawn96 That's true, but more snowfall means that it takes longer for the snow to melt away. Snow reflects sunlight which prevents the Earth from heating. Since the Earth absorbs less heat then it also emits less heat which means there's less heat for the CO2 to trap in the atmosphere. And that means global cooling.
@PissedFechtmeister Thats true as well. But, with more Carbon Dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, more heat will become trapped in the atmosphere and stick around longer. With increased urbanization and development today and the clearing of snow from those asphalt and cement surfaces (which absorb heat alot faster in comparison to other surfaces), warming is likely to increase after significant snowfalls.

They take a year with the largest El Nino ever recorded and compare it to an La Nina and say "Look, no warming!"
However if they took 1997, or 1999, or 2000 and compared (la Nina years) and compared to it the 2008/2009 La Nina years then you would see about 0.2C warming in the decade (about what has been going on all along. Apples to apples, not oranges.
They also conveniently forget 2005 was actully the warmest year on record (according to NOAA).
I love this debate. Fact is, we should TRY to live in harmony with the earth, not as parasites. Resources ARE limited! The problem is with the IPCC which was formed with the presumtion that man causes global warming. All those scientist's paychecks are dependent on global warming being real. Now their questionable results are being sensationalized by the media convincing millions of what may or may not be the truth. I think the best source for science might be your local meteroligists.
The unfortunate part of the climate change debate is that it's a political one, rather than a scientific one. Like with evolution, there will continually be deniers who's opinions are based not on science but on politics.

@otrwp79 Yes, most plants take in CO2 to use for photosynthesis, but excessive amounts of CO2 can cause problems. It's toxic to just about everything, but it also changes the way the atmosphere handles solar radiation. That being said, we must ask ourselves: is the current trend in global warming (which is only an increase of 2 degrees FAHRENHEIT in the next 100 years) due to increased CO2 in the atmosphere OR is it due to an increased amount of solar radiation?
Remember that Global Warming threatens billions (literally) of lives, in the most heavily populated areas of India (flooding), the United States (horrific storms and worse hurricanes), UK and Europe (freezing temperatures already causing death), China (flooding and hurricanes), Southeast Asia and Australia (heavy drought, thus famine) and nasty storms, hurricanes and typhoons. Billions of lives. And what about the people displaced? Where will we rebuild society and civilisation from scratch?
Don't forget, that the smallest increases in temperatures are destroying hundreds of thousands of lives in the Sahel, a desertifying region which is facing extinction. Huge areas of Sudan, Rwanda, Dijoubiti(spelling?), and even the United States. We get our food from here! The most basic of foods come from these areas! perhaps you should read the research rather than read the corporate paid nay-sayers conspiracy theories. do you understand what core drilling is? That is the evidence, humans making 3% of carbon emissions? The core drilling easily goes back much farther than 150 years, (start of the industrial age) way farther back, and the ice shows when the carbon emissions began multiplying in the ice and the steady progression every decade since, you are spewing false statements from scientists on the take.

Humans do not make up that much of the earth's CO2. Look at volcanoes, hot springs, geysers, animals breathing, forest fires. Global warming is the least of out problems.

It is getting warmer, and all of the glaciers are melting, it's not rocket science, or even theory based, they have core drilled deep into the glaciers to determine their age, much like a tree, and can see under a microscope the deeper they go, the less carbon in the ice. The increase in carbon is the culprit, the emissions we put in the air settle in the ocean you know, it doesn't just stay in the air

I don't remember Stossel being such a piece of shit. There is no data? WTF. There are plenty of scientists who have been studying the glaciers at the polar ends, and the data says that the glaciers are melting at an unprecedented rate. At a minimum, you can't argue that the climate isn't getting warmer to some extent. I wonder what kind of bozo scientist wannabes Stossel calls his "people." I'll give him one point though, he's right when he says that probably nothing we do by now will stop it.

In fact, according to an article by Petersen et al, global cooling was far less prevalent in the scientific literature than theories of gloal warming. We must also consider that the data from the 1970's was not as accurate as modern day data and only provided temperature data to the early twentieth century, not even calculating toprevious ice age and did not give a large enough scale

Today, the threats of global warming have been well established for 20 years. Personally, i could not imagine anybody thinking that there was a global cooling, especially since we are still in an interglacial period. But @ that time, we did not have the great data to draw a confident conclusion

Global warmers in fact want more life because that creates more organic carbon by sequestering atmospheric carbon. More plants, more food, healthier human populations. You should not make an outrageous statment like "global warmers...believe life is a poison..." without understanding the difference between atmospheric and organic carbon.

The only research the government has provided is from computer simulators, which can easily be altered and are highly unlikely to provide REAL evidence. There is no proof that carbon dioxide has an adverse effect on the greenhouse, actually a study over 30 years confirms this. Climate is changing all the time. Before any action was taken, proof should have been provided. I have been waiting for almost 20 years to see it. I know of one study that shows man made effects are a small fraction of one percent. Swamps areas in Louisiana, Florida, release massive methane, seawater evaporation in the worlds oceans constantly releases chlorine gas. And the ozone concept is even still unproven.

@thrawn96 That's true, but more snowfall means that it takes longer for the snow to melt away. Snow reflects sunlight which prevents the Earth from heating. Since the Earth absorbs less heat then it also emits less heat which means there's less heat for the CO2 to trap in the atmosphere. And that means global cooling.

@PissedFechtmeister Thats true as well. But, with more Carbon Dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, more heat will become trapped in the atmosphere and stick around longer. With increased urbanization and development today and the clearing of snow from those asphalt and cement surfaces (which absorb heat alot faster in comparison to other surfaces), warming is likely to increase after significant snowfalls.

No warming since 1998 - what garbage.
They take a year with the largest El Nino ever recorded and compare it to an La Nina and say "Look, no warming!"
However if they took 1997, or 1999, or 2000 and compared (la Nina years) and compared to it the 2008/2009 La Nina years then you would see about 0.2C warming in the decade (about what has been going on all along. Apples to apples, not oranges.
They also conveniently forget 2005 was actully the warmest year on record (according to NOAA).

The problem is with the IPCC which was formed with the presumtion that man causes global warming. All those scientist's paychecks are dependent on global warming being real. The unfortunate part of the climate change debate is that it's a political one, rather than a scientific one. Like with evolution, there will continually be deniers who's opinions are based not on science but on politics.
Fortunately, in the Information Age science is not limited to those who study it in university. Textbooks are available and can be read by all. Sadly too many choose to trust the likes of O'Reilly, Beck, the UN, Gore, etc. without knowing anything of the science themselves.

Omnissient You probably should have watched the entire thing before forming your opinion. Oreilly was playing the devil's advocate. That is what he does. He made it clear at the end of the segment that he agrees that global warming is a hoax. Maybe you should think about the fact that you apparently have a habit of forming opinions without gathering all of the facts. You couldn't even finish watching this video before commenting.

When someone expresses the world is not a flat pizza and i comment that this is true and it turns out he was ironic about it whos fault is it? I mean its just hard for me to grasp that anyone can seriously deny global warming. Maybe that makes me naive, but i just cant believe these people are that fucked up.

Deniers generally know little to nothing about the science involved, but unfortunately so do most of the supporters. I'm equally against someone supporting something for an agenda as I am against someone who doesn't support something for an agenda.
The science is sound, it's the opinion-based media, rhetoric, and politics that need to be completely removed from the entire argument.

@otrwp79 Yes, most plants take in CO2 to use for photosynthesis, but excessive amounts of CO2 can cause problems. It's toxic to just about everything, but it also changes the way the atmosphere handles solar radiation. That being said, we must ask ourselves: is the current trend in global warming (which is only an increase of 2 degrees FAHRENHEIT in the next 100 years) due to increased CO2 in the atmosphere OR is it due to an increased amount of solar radiation?

Remember that Global Warming threatens billions (literally) of lives, in the most heavily populated areas of India (flooding), the United States (horrific storms and worse hurricanes), UK and Europe (freezing temperatures already causing death), China (flooding and hurricanes), Southeast Asia and Australia (heavy drought, thus famine) and nasty storms, hurricanes and typhoons. Billions of lives. And what about the people displaced? Where will we rebuild society and civilisation from scratch?

Don't forget, that the smallest increases in temperatures are destroying hundreds of thousands of lives in the Sahel, a desertifying region which is facing extinction. Huge areas of Sudan, Rwanda, Dijoubiti(spelling?), and even the United States. We get our food from here! The most basic of foods come from these areas! Africa is a bloody farm for the world, and we're helping it's destruction. Bill O'Reilly I agree on when he says its better to be safe over sorry.

The temperatures are not increasing. They're dropping for the time being.
Hurricanes in America are virtually non-existent at this point.
Increased hurricane activity was said to be a symptom of Global Warming, yet America hasn't faced a significant hurricane SINCE KATRINA!

Global warming is a bad way to put it... the better phrase would be global climate change.
And you're right, they're dropping further than they've ever gone in a very long time. We're having consecutive colder and colder seasons and they're only getting worse.
Katrina was also one of the worse hurricanes that has ever hit America with the rise of it's CO2 output which... well, there's too much of for plants (which we are cutting down by the millions).

Why was Katrina so bad then? Why are we receiving such unprecedented freezing temperatures, killing people in Europe, and a year or so ago we saw massive heat waves which again killed people.
Watch Al Gore's 'Inconvenient Truth' with an open mind, it makes a lot of sense. You can hardly deny that we should do nothing about it at all because absolutely nothing at all is changing.

@voronOsphere The levee got sabotaged to save the rich side of Katrina. what made it worst was government on purpose delayed the aid for the victims and created chaos to let the Black people die on their own. Their excuse was incompetence or miscommunication but it was actually done on purpose.

How do you know global warming is a myth? You are just one of those idiots who thinks he has the credibility as a scientist. I don't know that global warming is real or isn't but I'm not going to decide if it is or not. I am going to base my opinion off of scientific research and not what Bill o reilly thinks. If there is a scientist who proves Global warming isn't as serious as we think it is then fine, but all these guys on the tv and radio shows don't know what they are talking about.

Has had a consensus for decades and has only been getting stronger. 97% of active climatologists, every professional scientific academy that looks at global warming... From 1993-2003 not a single paper has been published that refutes global warming. Unfortunately, the facts are usually filtered and twisted by way too many oil and coal funded skeptic groups before they're heard by the public...

@trbbb Climatology is a study of data. It is a field of science that deals in interpreting data, representing data, and making predictions/conclusions based on data, NOT investigating causes. I'm sure there's some geophysics and geochemistry involved in climatology, but when your entire argument rests on the absurd claim that ALL climatologists know more about geophysics than a Ph.D. in geophysics AND know more about geochemistry than a Ph.D. in geochemistry ...

It's called natural variation. So, yes, the AGW Al is preaching is indeed a myth. Also, check your "research" because 30,000 climate scientists are suing Al Gore - a lot of people don't believe him. @voronOsphere I too am a Christian and have to deal with a lot of anti-Christian myths (just the other day I had to explain to my classmates, in the middle of class, that Christians do not believe the Earth is flat. I am also a scientist and I read a lot of papers and articles, some of them about global warming. I came across this one from Harvard the other day about a more likely cause for global warming, the sun:
