Stinger missiles during the Soviet-Afghan war was one of the key victories because anti-communist Afghan rebels can used it to shoot down Soviet Mi-24 Hind helicopter gunships. Because of it, the Soviet relied less on helicopter gunships and did most of the fighting on the ground.
Authors like Khaled Hosseini and Shafie Ayar make people more aware of the great country of Afghanistan. Just the same, this kind of video allows us to understand Afghanistan to a greater extent.

@LomarkII USA national debt is total debt of each single of the 50th states. US federal debt is smaller in comparison to the states. The states mostly borrow money for private banks and selling bonds. Most failed to repay it and the debt fell upon to the Federal government. Private banks tend to hike up their interest when news of the debts is going to the Federal government. Russia had a bailout from the International Bank during the 1990. Also rubles value is way lower than the US dollar.

Less than 90 helicopters were downed in Afghanistan, most from common accidents which a lot of were repair. Horn of Africa numbers are unknown. Same with the battles in the Philippines. Probably less than 300 hundred helicopters were down total in all campaigns but numbers are unkown expect Afghanistan's which look up "List of Coalition aircraft losses in Afghanistan".

What? The Sovjet union killed about 30-62 million of its own people from 1917-1987 according to several independent historians. It was a dictator regime, don't ever forget that. Even worse than Hitler's regime. Regan's SDI was one of several factors which caused the colapse of the Sovjet Union, due to the massive armament race. The Regan Doctrine was another significant factor which was implemented especially in Afghanistan, where the US supplied the mujahideen with stinger missiles, money etc.

@ReDDDgo, Mujahideen isn't the same as the Taliban. Most of the Northern Allience was made up by Mujahideen fighters from the Soviet - Afghan war. Ahmad Shah Massoud, HATED the Taliban and al Qaeda and he was a huge leader both in the Northern Allience and the Mujahideen. You seem to forget the Taliban were the ones who ban women from schools, made children studied the Quran every day, and enforce many other Islamic rules, not the Mujahideen. The Taliban other threw the Mujahideen.

It totally sucks how many of these FIM-92 Stinger were handed to the Chinese by Mujaheddin after the war. What I heard is that China studies US FIM-92 Red heat seekers and stinger missiles. They reverse engineer it and they also got SA-16 from UNITA from Angola. So China built their own MANPADS called QW-1M Vanguard.

@LomarkII USA national debt is total debt of each single of the 50th states. US federal debt is smaller in comparison to the states. The states mostly borrow money for private banks and selling bonds. Most failed to repay it and the debt fell upon to the Federal government. Private banks tend to hike up their interest when news of the debts is going to the Federal government. Russia had a bailout from the International Bank during the 1990. Also rubles value is way lower than the US dollar.

Boo - hoo, we lost about only 100 - 300 helicopters to the Mujahideen armed with a couple of missiles, boo fucking hoo. Russia gave anti-aircraft guns, rocket launchers, planes, everything and destroyed nearly 2000 - 3000 US helicopters.

@2lens25, I made a mistake, I accidently added Iraq in there to, and I thought you said aircraft not only helicopters.
Less than 90 helicopters were downed in Afghanistan, most from common accidents which a lot of were repair. Horn of Africa numbers are unknown. Same with the battles in the Philippines. Probably less than 300 hundred helicopters were down total in all campaigns but numbers are unkown expect Afghanistan's which look up "List of Coalition aircraft losses in Afghanistan".

US supplied thousands of Mark 1 missiles to the Mujahidin during their war with the Soviets through the Pakistan ISI.
US probability kill rate was 60% in the hands of a US soldier but in the field (meaning under stress) it was 30%. Kill rate estimates by Muj witnessed by CIA was 50-75%.
Corruption saw a lot of these sold in the bazaars of Pakistan and siphoned off to Iran and Soviets as well as other buyers where you could buy one for as low as $100,000.

What? The Sovjet union killed about 30-62 million of its own people from 1917-1987 according to several independent historians. It was a dictator regime, don't ever forget that. Even worse than Hitler's regime. Regan's SDI was one of several factors which caused the colapse of the Sovjet Union, due to the massive armament race. The Regan Doctrine was another significant factor which was implemented especially in Afghanistan, where the US supplied the mujahideen with stinger missiles, money etc.

@ReDDDgo, Mujahideen isn't the same as the Taliban. Most of the Northern Allience was made up by Mujahideen fighters from the Soviet - Afghan war. Ahmad Shah Massoud, HATED the Taliban and al Qaeda and he was a huge leader both in the Northern Allience and the Mujahideen. You seem to forget the Taliban were the ones who ban women from schools, made children studied the Quran every day, and enforce many other Islamic rules, not the Mujahideen. The Taliban other threw the Mujahideen.
