SPOT ON! And the crowd seems to understand and appreciate what they are witnessing. Makes me wish I was in Italy that night... It blows my mind that this music is nearly two decades old.
i see them playing it, but if i close my eyes i'm immediately lost at sea with my heart racing, shivering. then i open my eyes and i see the computer. weird. fucking slint...brilliant.
brings to tears to my eyes every time i hear it. i use to balance it out by listening to reggae music afterwards. one of the saddest and most powerful songs of ALL time.
I used to hate bands that mumble, but I don't mind Slint a bit. For others, it's like they're clouding their own message; for Slint, it's like they're telling a story they'd rather keep hidden. It's so awesome <3
One of the best album closers ever. The whole "I'm trying to find my way home and I'm sorry...I miss you!" part always gives me shivers.
Great but, sadly, unknown record, Perhaps it's somewhat anonymous state is part of my appeal towards it, it will always be a hidden treasure for those of us who know it and own it.
The same to me, I could not have said it better. I always try to make people listen to such great music, but sadly enough, most people find it boring, the music being too depressive or stressful. For them, listening to music is nothing you can do without doing anything else.
Everytime I see a Slint live performance from 2007 I think "That's not the Brian McMahan I saw on the Spiderland cover, he looks so much different now". But then I remember that there are more than fifteen years between 1991 and 2007.
By the way, this was an excellent performance, despite the video's quality.
yeah anyone could play this but did just anyone come up with this? lame some people think a song must be "composed" or hard to play to be good. this song gives and gives.

Incredible band, but the minute they emerged from self-imposed exile & played for ATP (commerce "indie"-by-numbers for the Domino Records generation AT BEST)they blew any credibility they might've had, along with their mystique. Maybe that was the point but it still sucks. Fuck 'em.

So we made our first album when we were in diapers but we never toured until we were 45 and burnt. This sucks guys, find something worthwhile to croon over.
When you watch videos of them you could fall asleep. You have to see them live to understand how great they are live. Everything fits and you realize there's one thing that really matters: the music.
So a band and crowd have to go nuts to show they're 'into it'? Utter bollocks. Even if the band are pretty static, their performance is great, and every time I go to a gig, I refrain from 'going nuts', but I still appreciate and enjoy it.
@perpitbla5 for me, it depends on the type of music really. here you would stand staring, unmoving and let the wall of sound hit you like a ton of bricks. If it was say bad brains or something, i wouldn't be able to help but move around.
@perpitbla5 I don't understand then? If you're going to stand aside quietly and listen to the music then why go to the show? You can sit quietly and listen to the music at home, for a lot less money.
@Uzzie101 If you're going to jump and dance, then why go to the show? You can jump and dance at home, for a lot less money.
I've seen and heard Slint play and it's magic. You don't need to do anything but look and listen. That's what's it about. (and I know this video makes it seem like a boring thing, but when you're actually there, it's totally different, or at least it was for me)
AHAHAHAH thumbs down because i like actual composed music rather than this "revolutionary, insightful, and unique" crap. its terrible. anyone could play it, and it seems to only be liked by indie artophiles
they recorded this song (from the album spiderland) around 1990 and the album was released on touch and go records in 1991, they split shortyly after. these guys are legends. just watched them in dublin on saturday night. superb...
