The E train used to use these cars, then they started using R32 cars, then the R40 cars and now they using the new cars. The only trains now that uses the R46 cars are the A, F, G, V, R trains
2nd the seats that are on the wall facing someone at a 90 degree angle so your knees hit there hips
3rd the seats with 2 by 2 facing each other (creating problem #2) to promote socializing yet no one ever does
4th the buckets seats.. well i actually kinda like those however i cant slouch very well. that is the only good thing about this kinda car, bucket seats. not if you are fat or next to a fat person tho :(
even so the R32s on the A are gettin faded out cuz theres only like 2 or 3 sets of them while the rest are R44/R46..u be better off gettin them on the C or V
Well, at the time I posted that comment (4 Months Ago), there were R32's on the E still. No R32's are on the E now. They can be found primarily on the A and C. There can also be found on the R and V.
It doesn't feel as special when seeing a R46 on the E because you can see the white and blue E on the R40Ms/R42s which you couldnt when it was practically all R32s
Dreamy music. You are right about the R-179s, they would be well suited for the E if they are 75' cars with 5 doors per side instead of 4. But as of now I think they have not yet decided on configuration and probably won't until right before an order is placed for the 179s.
nope, all R42s on the E are going to be moved to the C, so it will be 70% R32s and 30% R46s. so yeah, this video will not be historical for long. all R32s on the F and R are going to be permantely stationed on the E until their retirement. the R42s are going to the A and C until their dying day because E riders hate those cars
The E train rider also hate the R32 because it had no air coditioner in the summer. The R42 are moving to the A and C because the R160 will go to the E and will displace the R42 and replace The R32. The R160 are going on the F also. Some R46 will be displaced from the E/F lines and some opf them will move over to the A/C lines to replace the R40M/R42. The R32/R38/R40 slant will retire when the R40M/R42 move over to the A/C lines and R160 move to the F/R and more R46 on the R.
R42s at Jamaica are being moved to the replace the R38s on the C. replacing them on the E will be the R46s and R32s from the F when it starts using R160s. the R32s on the R will also go on the E and in their place will be R46s from the G, which is set to begin using R68/68As at the new year
E riders are used to the R32s because they have dominated the E since 1987. that is why they will stay until next summer. R160s are going on the F to send the R42s to the C. They will then go on the E to retire the R32s. once the E and F are fully R160s, the R46s will replace the R40M/42s on the A and C
lol exactly, but my question is even though they have an electronic display they should capable of announcing next stops, do they atleast show you the next stop?
he meant back in 2001 before 9/11. the N was mostly R68/68As, but had some R40s and R32s. When Coney Island was closed for reconstruction, the N was mostly R40s.
yeah, after 9/11, the E was entirely R46s, taking them from the suspended R service. the R32s were moved to the Q local, whose R68s were moved to the W. The R68As were moved to the Q express so the R40s can run on the M, which was replacing the N. the R42s were used to provide extra service on the J, which was replacing the R in brooklyn.
wait, this is sorta good because if you think about it, R46s are arckward for the 8th ave subway lines. especailly the (E) line! I think that the R46s on the (E) should be replaced by R44s if they are going away! think about it! an R44 (E) train! makes sense cause the (A) uses R44s it would be a good pair!
not for another couple of years. those phase I cars are going to be the last to be replaced by the R160As. after the R40s and R38s retire by february 09, the R42s need to go because they are severly rusted. the R40Ms and R32s will then retire before the R179s arrive to replace the R44s
i've seen some of the same subway cars they use for the J line on the E line lately. The R46s will remain for a while but i also heard that the R32s will remain on the E line for a long time. whoever said there scrapping them soon is wrong. There still gona be around for at least another 5 yrs.
The R179 is not to replace the R46 fleet, it is to replace the R44 fleet. If you look at the MTA's 2008-2013 Capital Budget Plan, on page 38 it clearly says that they will order 208 R179s to replace the R44 fleet. So the A train will have R179s.
it was an R train.my friend was going o target to buy something, but i just spooted and R46 come up,i was really shocked to see it,especially an R46,it could have been an R44,and dont worry the R32 still got about 3-4 years of life remaining, thats way by the end of 2009 i will make a R32 tribute video

@voidenter Nigga, the R46s are classic! They have the best door chimes and the best sitting-in-the-station sound.
