I sent Chomsky an e-mail once, rather cheekily asking him who was going to take over his mantle when he dies. He replied that there are many people at grass-roots level on any number of issues, all doing what he does. I respect that, but whether Professor Chomsky likes it or not, he's a leader, and I don't really see anyone stepping into his shoes...

I've met him sort of, we have sent emails back and forth about various topics.

He is really insightful.

Because I love his work, especially the linguistic portion of it. I think it is fascinating.

But meeting him in person was exceptionally delightful. He's so small, but truly inspirational.
