@smdbch1 Overeem has been knocked out clean, in 3-4 fights. Against Kharitanov, Liddell and Rua II. He has fought in 62 fights, 9 of those he lost by a (t)ko. 3 of those are on K1 rules.
The Nogueira fight had nothing to do with his chin, but with an injury. Same goes for the Arona fight.
In the Rua I fight, he couldn't defend himself because he was gassed(both were).
In the Liddell fight he got outwrestled. He beat him in the standup.

Trevor u seem very knowledgeable abt mma n i really liked ur prediction. But I don't agree with you on one point, ie jds figthing in close range. I think jds chances of winning are more if he fights outside on a certain range n occasionally coming inside, throwing quick punch n quickly getting outside. i feel jds has to make it cat and mouse game.
Also, if the game goes on ground, jds will have the upper hand. But, I do agree with you that overeem should be favourite to win.

I see your logic about styles, but in reality it doesn't quite work out that way. If it did Nick Diaz would never win. Fedor didn't throw any kicks and he was crazy. JDS beat a lot of people to get that belt with his boxing. It's about the individual and how they implement their style

First of all: there are are no elbows in K1. and second: Overeem is not "the best pure striker in the world", that tournament was complete bullshit! He fought a guy who is very good but is too small for the weight, then a guy who was injured from his previous fight and then peter Aerts who had just come off a war with Semmy schilt. If you had called him " the best striker in mma" then I would understand but he's not the best in the world.

I make something very clear and easy to understand. The Netherlands.. that's the place where all the best fighters / strikers come from. Don't believe it? Look at the history of the k-1.. Sem Schilt, Badr Hari, Peter Aerts, Ramon Dekkers, Ernesto Hoost, Andy Souwer, Albert Kraus, Remy Bonjasky etc. etc. Even in MMA there's one badass fighter. Bas Rutten. And so is Alistair Overeem, strike force champ, k1 champ. And he will be UFC Champ on a short notice :)

EVERYONE thought Cain would beat JDS. JDS has had the greatest rise throughout the history of the UFC HW division, hes fought MUCH better competition in the past 5 years than Overeem.Hes knocked out so many title contenders: cro cop, gonzaga, werdum (overeem couldnt do it),gilbert yvel, made carwin and nelson out of a punching bag. Im betting on JDS: winner by knock out round 2. Dont underestimate him just because he doesnt do roids or win kickboxing tournaments which no one gives a shit about.

@smdbch1 Overeem has been knocked out clean, in 3-4 fights. Against Kharitanov, Liddell and Rua II. He has fought in 62 fights, 9 of those he lost by a (t)ko. 3 of those are on K1 rules.
The Nogueira fight had nothing to do with his chin, but with an injury. Same goes for the Arona fight.
In the Rua I fight, he couldn't defend himself because he was gassed(both were).
In the Liddell fight he got outwrestled. He beat him in the standup.
The Kharitanov fight was a slugfest.

@smdbch1 I still like Bas, but if he said so, he's crazy. Being KO'd in 3-4 fights out of 62 doesn't mean you have a glass chin. Believe me, if Anderson Silva has fought 60 fights instead of 30, there is a big chance he might've been KO'd atleast once.
Also, Overeem can knock anyone out. Him being more all-rounded, I believe he's going to win.

JDS ground game wasn’t that good with only a 14% submission rate which equate to 2 wins via submission. Overeem is a very strong fighter and a bit slow, JDS quick with power in both hands. Personally, I like both guys not only for their fighting abilities but they both seem like very good guys which means absolutely nothing in the ring. JDS in the first round…over hand right. Whoever wins it will be a good fight.

Very true and a very good point however, 30 – 50 pounds of muscle will not help his endurance. If by chance it goes into the 2nd or 3rd round Overeem will be subject to the over hand right and with JDS behind it…it could mean lights out. I don’t think Overeem wants go to the ground which I believe is his only chance to with this fight.

@MrKjw1960 Also, Overeem does have 11 losses, but his last loss was in 2007 when he was walking around 30 - 50 pounds lighter. JDS' only hope is to totally deadzone overeem, ie: Get close and box, but avoiding clinch. If JDS gets it wrong by so much as a centimetre, its an Uberknee to the nostril.

THis will end up being a trilogy. I can see a a parellel like Matt Huges vs GSP trilogy. This time I think Overeem may win, but I can definately see JDS KOing Overeem at some point. JDS is the faster striker, and is more athletic. Also remember, that JDS is a good 5 years younger. Youth usually prevails.

Overeem had his hands down and a low stance against brock because not only does brock pose no threat in stand up, but a low stance and low hands makes it 10x harder for lesnar to take down, as overeem is already prepped for a sprawl. @Pecid cerrone well to beat a boxer type fighter like junior u really need to use ur all around weapons to beat him cuz if he is a better boxer then only exchanging punches with him is a losing game, either be at kicking range or be at clinch range where u use short punches knees and elbows. personally i dont c overeem doing that, he is 2 stationary and gets hit alot and usually moves forward with punches and knees. maybe he'll be different fight night i dunno :P
