We have less than 2 weeks until it is July and so far we have had only 1 day with temperatures higher than 30 degrees celsius (86 Fahrenheit) here in Germany. It has been cold and raining for the last week. Where is this global warming everyone is talking about? Last winter we had waist high snow and never saw the pavement for 4 months. @M4GW Your numbers are INcorrect. The only way the oceans "produce" (actually-NOT absorb) CO2 is because they can no longer take it out of the air. @realitylover3 Actually, the water does absorb CO2 when cold. Some 18x more than is in air but the majority of it is produced within the ocean anyways.
It's not the Earth that takes CO2 from the atmosphere, its plant life and molluscs, general sea-life and and diatoms that are responsible for locking it up. (Some of it ending up as gas, coal and liquid oils) Without CO2 we all will surely perish.

In Greenland and NE Canada near the arctic circle it's 20 degrees ABOVE normal for the last little spell. This is causing the jet stream to dip far further south than normal giving us arctic temps. In the Southern Hemisphere temps are quite a bit above normal this year (it's summer there) and there is the 2nd 100 yr drought happening in 5 years in the Amazon. It's GLOBAL warming not Local warming.

this winters record colds are part from la nina, as a few years ago the warm was el nino.. these are one of the factors into our very complex balancing global weather system. 'green house gases' can both insulate and block incoming radiation ( warm and cool the planet). should be more concerned with land cover reflection value - hydrology, and health problems involving excessive pollution in our water, soil, and air. .. houses food... / MN is a fun place.

According to NASA data the mean annual temperature have been going down for the last ten years. Beside, the southern hemisphere had experienced very cold winter recently.

No, I don't recall non-stop complaining every time it was a little warm. The discussion and theory was about long term trends and decades of the hottest years on record, not random warm spells. There have only been accurate temperature measurements take for the last 90 years and even these were in sporadic locations at best. There are too many factors at play for anyone to say Global warming is being caused by human actions.
@jeranamostilton I agree - I never claimed anything was proof one way or another. I do think it is prudent to study the situation though and not just assume it's not a problem. My original complaint was people who start yelling every time there's a snowstorm, "why haven't we heard from Al Gore?" or "see, global warming is crap." And I don't like when people use a heat wave to claim it is definitely global warming. Too bad we don't have a lot more data to go on.
@jterran The reason it is called politicizing the weathr, is because a number of the most important factors have been completely ignored. 1. Since the 1980s, solar output has been some of the highest there has been. 2. The Earth wobbles on its axis, and about every 10,000 years it reaches the most drastic tilt, right now we are about a half a degree from tilting closest to the sun. 3. About every 150,000 years earth orbit becomes more circular, meaning closer to sun for longer.
I just hate that every time there's a cold snap people claim it proves there is no global warming. We're talking an average global temperature of plus a couple of degrees causing massive changes. It doesn't mean it will be 80 everywhere every day. Plus part of the effects of global warming are more severe summers AND more severe winters. (Not saying it's true or false that it's occurring, just sick of misinformation.)

On earth's historical scale 1 season and 1 century are about equally insignificant- certainly statistically so. If the Chicken Littles would bother to look at the ice core samples (instead of ignoring and cherry picking) the earth would appear relatively cool/ temperate. From what I read the 20 warmest years on record are 2010, 2005, 1998, 2003, 2002, 2006, 2009, 2007, 2004, 2001, 2008, 1997, 1999, 1995, 2000, 1990, 1991, 1988, 1987, 1994, 1983. That includes every year since 1995 except for one.

It is funny that Mexico is having the coldest weather since recorded history started 100 years ago! The amount of emissions to fly and attend Copenhagen and Cancun is enormous in this day and age !! Earth's ecosystems, and human civilization have developed in conjunction with the current climate, and if the climate warms rapidly species will face extinction if they can't adapt. It is true that climate changed naturally many times in human history, but those changes were much slower and milder, also our population was much smaller than it is today. Rapid global warming coupled with our skyrocketing population spells disaster

@canofsand Past dramatic climate change in the past proves that the climate is sensitive to an energy imbalance, which is now due to an enhanced greenhouse effect. It is true that the earth was much warmer in the past, but the ecosystems we know today have developed in conjuction with the current climate, and if the planet warms rapidly species won't have time to adapt through migration or evolution. The fact that the earth was warmer before industry, is is irrelevant to the current warming.

We have less than 2 weeks until it is July and so far we have had only 1 day with temperatures higher than 30 degrees celsius (86 Fahrenheit) here in Germany. It has been cold and raining for the last week. Where is this global warming everyone is talking about? Last winter we had waist high snow and never saw the pavement for 4 months. Nature produces most of the world's CO2, the oceans are the worst culprit, they produce 70% of the earth's CO2. Shall we ban the oceans? But CO2 is not a bad thing its plant food, nothing would be green without CO2.

@M4GW Your numbers are INcorrect. The only way the oceans "produce" (actually-NOT absorb) CO2 is because they can no longer take it out of the air. Earth's ability to clean itself is being destroyed by the same corporations that charge you an arm and a leg for gasoline, heating oil, and electricity. @realitylover3 Actually, the water does absorb CO2 when cold. Some 18x more than is in air but the majority of it is produced within the ocean anyways.
It's not the Earth that takes CO2 from the atmosphere, its plant life and molluscs, general sea-life and and diatoms that are responsible for locking it up. (Some of it ending up as gas, coal and liquid oils) Without CO2 we all will surely perish.

In Greenland and NE Canada near the arctic circle it's 20 degrees ABOVE normal for the last little spell. This is causing the jet stream to dip far further south than normal giving us arctic temps. In the Southern Hemisphere temps are quite a bit above normal this year (it's summer there) and there is the 2nd 100 yr drought happening in 5 years in the Amazon. It's GLOBAL warming not Local warming.

this winters record colds are part from la nina, as a few years ago the warm was el nino.. these are one of the factors into our very complex balancing global weather system. 'green house gases' can both insulate and block incoming radiation ( warm and cool the planet). should be more concerned with land cover reflection value - hydrology, and health problems involving excessive pollution in our water, soil, and air. .. houses food... / MN is a fun place.

There have only been accurate temperature measurements take for the last 90 years and even these were in sporadic locations at best. My original complaint was people who start yelling every time there's a snowstorm, "why haven't we heard from Al Gore?" or "see, global warming is crap." And I don't like when people use a heat wave to claim it is definitely global warming. Too bad we don't have a lot more data to go on.

@jterran The reason it is called politicizing the weathr, is because a number of the most important factors have been completely ignored. 1. Since the 1980s, solar output has been some of the highest there has been. 2. The Earth wobbles on its axis, and about every 10,000 years it reaches the most drastic tilt, right now we are about a half a degree from tilting closest to the sun. 3. About every 150,000 years earth orbit becomes more circular, meaning closer to sun for longer.

I just hate that every time there's a cold snap people claim it proves there is no global warming. We're talking an average global temperature of plus a couple of degrees causing massive changes. It doesn't mean it will be 80 everywhere every day. Plus part of the effects of global warming are more severe summers AND more severe winters. On earth's historical scale 1 season and 1 century are about equally insignificant- certainly statistically so. If the Chicken Littles would bother to look at the ice core samples (instead of ignoring and cherry picking) the earth would appear relatively cool/ temperate. From what I read the 20 warmest years on record are 2010, 2005, 1998, 2003, 2002, 2006, 2009, 2007, 2004, 2001, 2008, 1997, 1999, 1995, 2000, 1990, 1991, 1988, 1987, 1994, 1983. That includes every year since 1995 except for one.

Like I said, you people are weak-minded fools, believing something before you verify and latching on to conspiracies that I know to be completely exaggerated for the sake of marketing. The CO2 levels in the boxes were stated clearly in the video 300 PPM of CO2 and 1800 PPB of Methane, the same levels as what is in current air. Amounts to 3.6 degrees F TOTAL.

@markcgreer The Man-Made Global Warming / Climate Change (MMGW) proposition fails not because its protagonists have falsified data and relied on fiction or because of the criminal charges of fraud in other spheres recently levelled against the first chair of Parliament’s Committee on Energy & Climate Change. It fails because there is no evidence for it – indeed only evidence against (ie observations show that world temperatures drive CO2 levels) and because all its predictions have failed.

Over the last 12000 years since the last ice age there have been warming periods such as the Medevil times that were warmer than now. Many scientists show a slight cooling period over the last 9-10 years. That is quite different that the fry guy Al Gore suggesting man is causing catastrophic GW. Did these fraudsters think we were all asleep and would not challenge it ?

it might be handy to know what levels of CO2 they were putting into that box. Are they saying an atmosphere comprised of 100% CO2 only causes one degree difference? That's not very much.
Going up to 1,000 parts per million is a 300% increase, to go to one million parts per million is a 300,000% increase. The Greeny Weenies say the world will end at 400 ppm.
Plus what kind of lights were they using? They should be using full spectrum lights to replicate the suns rays.

In reality, it's been significantly warmer than it is now in human history and things were in many ways (excluding irrelevant things like politics and technology) much better then than now (e.g. for farming and plant/animal life).

Earth's ecosystems, and human civilization have developed in conjunction with the current climate, and if the climate warms rapidly species will face extinction if they can't adapt. It is true that climate changed naturally many times in human history, but those changes were much slower and milder, also our population was much smaller than it is today. Rapid global warming coupled with our skyrocketing population spells disaster

@canofsand Past dramatic climate change in the past proves that the climate is sensitive to an energy imbalance, which is now due to an enhanced greenhouse effect. It is true that the earth was much warmer in the past, but the ecosystems we know today have developed in conjuction with the current climate, and if the planet warms rapidly species won't have time to adapt through migration or evolution. The fact that the earth was warmer before industry, is is irrelevant to the current warming.
