Had Motown released that new mix of "You're Good My Child" (everyday you're good babe) back then, back-to-back with "Love Hangover", it would have made her s serious R&B star all over again.

Unfortunately, the vocal they used on the new mix on the "Deluxe Black" has a few ragged parts, as it's unedited. So I made a new, better mix that overlays the better vocals lines from the 1st mix.

Those two hits back to back would have shown that Ross was the baddest bitch in the game!

This is a remarkable vocal performance. I dare anyone to name an example of any of her contemporaries (including, especially, Streisand) who could co what she did here: sing non-stope rhythm for nearly 7 minutes? Are you out of your mind? The only one of her contemporaries who could have almost handled it was Aretha. Which would have shown people Ross was a soul singer, actually more of jazz singer. She plays her voice here like a fuenly-tuned instrument.

Diana Ross has something most singers don't, and that is, good lyrical flow (enunciation) and resonance . All she's doing is standing there singing, yet she takes your breath away! A true star.

Man! Wasn't she "sumptin' " else? The fashion model that could sing. Diana was known for her great expressive and versatile singing. Haters don't like to admit that. They think it was because she slept her way to the top. No amount of sleeping with anyone regardless of who they are is going to sell 120 million records and sell out concert arenas around the world for 50 years.

Remember there was time when the "wall of sound" technology that Phil Spectorr used so much wasn't around, and back in those days that tech might have been considered cheating or compared to what they are doing to day with auto-tune and synthesizers. However I agree with you -- all the computer technology makes the music sound very soulless and synthetic, well because it is. Diana Ross was true singer. A singer who sounded better live than in the studio

@22v68 ...(cont), The reason why talented singers like this are no longer recording today is because corporate interests can get away with pushing the nonsense they push today, and it's much easier and less costly, than to train and nurture singing talent like Diana Ross. It's much more important today to be able to dance and have a show than to be able to sing - computers can correct bad singing. Another reason you don't see Diana Rosses today, is because Diana Ross was unique.

It was never a huge dance routine extravaganza show. Times were different then.
