i'm 18 and i've seen EW&F twice... i'm sick of the music today that my generation listens to... idk if it's the whole old soul thing or not but i don't like anything new except a few bands, i LOVE bands from the 60's, 70's, and some of the 80's... 70's music was the best though... and PS the bass player is the best EVER!!! plays like a monsters and performs like a beast

@sblopez08 I'm 32 and I have to agree with you. There's some good music out now. But I feel that most of it lacks that depth and soul in the lyrics. Most everything is Auto-tuned to death now. Singers are too afraid to have their audience here them hit a bad note. Whereas seasoned vets like EW&F are true LIVE performers. As for Verdine (Bass player), that man is simply amazing with his energy!!!! I get to see them in concert for the second time on June 10th!!!!

@StubbyCub yea exactly!! i saw them in Fort Collins this past 2010 summer and i swear that bass player seemed like he was high on crack the whole night lol but i loved it, all of them were amazing true musicians that wrote there own music, not like todays bands... shit Britney Spears OPENLY ADMITTED that she still lips syncs during live shows!! thats just disgraceful and thievery in my opinion, we need bands like they use to be in the good ole days... that i missed :'(

The slap/pop style of bass playing was actually invented by Larry Graham (Sly & The Family Stone, Graham Central Station) back when he was playing with his brothers and needed to try to make up for the (then) lack of drums.

The bass player is Verdine White, Maurice's brother. He's always like that, for decades.

Yeah - I'm pretty sure that some people credit Verdine White as possibly (one of?) the inventor (s) of the bass-popping style that became famous during the disco boom (please - nobody mention Mark King out of parenthesis, lovely guy though he is!)
