your mosin nagant probably punches through it like playwood cause on average a 7.62x54R weighs 180 grains lol more than triple than your 55 grain .223 lol
Steel-cased ammo and hard Berdan primers are no problem for Geissele Automatics triggers. Sets them off reliably, consistently. Accuracy is greatly improved from stock OEM trigger with ~10 millisecond lock time to less than half, compared to a Remington 700 bolt-action of ~2.5 millisecond lock time. Good for that range with irons.
@jigglejack100 its a "Tapco riser mount", you can see through it, but all you can see is the base of the front sight. I wanted a slightly higher mount so there wasn't much of the front sight visible in the scope.
@an10nee Its a cheap Bushnell 3-9x40 that I got used for free, but it works perfectly. Not as nice to look through as the Leupold on my 30.06, but just as dependable
@OSHADYO Oh jeez this was like 1.5 years ago...I think I aimed a little high and they were hitting in the middle...I had 36" of vertical target so I wasn't too worried about it.
NICE SHOT, I WISH I HAD A THUMB! (I can piss farther than you can, nah, nah ,nah ,nah ,nah!!!! When we all understand, in the grand scheme of things, action is what counts... blah, blah, blah...nevermind, silly human filth,,, in the end, we understand nothing.)
@wavelength1970 If you have to advertise or degrade people of there shooting in a non-competitve environment like "The Jacob1186", it kinda reminds me of the guy that talks about how big his dick is too.
@JimmyGunXD556 I'm not sure I understand your comment..i agreed with the Jacob that the shot was easy with a scope, and I said I did it with open sites too...i wasn't degrading anyone
@wavelength1970 yes, i jumped the gun. I thought he was degrading you and i was sticking up for you. I looked at it like if you know the shot is easy and we've all done it. What the point of the comment? So I took it the wrong way. Again my bad. It was nice to see easy shooting. I will look forward to Jacobs "easy shot vids as well". Other than that...nice shooting and nice vid.
@TheJacob1186 Ummm, not every one can. But really, shooting that far with irons in an AR15 isn't really terribly hard for most people either. We're talking about a 3,000 fps bullet in most cases and they tend to be pretty flat to that range and beyond. 550 yards is still in range of irons with an AR15, although it does get tricky at that point and you won't hit every shot. Take care.
Its just a cheap Bushnell 3-9x40, I got it for free, its kind of banged up but it works perfectly. So good in fact I bought a Bushnell 6-18x50 for my 22 rifle.
cool video, but no offense It looks a little put together. its cut after every shot, could either be to put the hits together or just to cut out a lot of the empty space, either way still a good video, may I ask what type of steel do you use and where do you come by it? I am looking to start shooting some steel with my ar-15 but I also need to get some kind of optic..
I did cut out some sections of me aiming, breathing etc...but these 5 shots were consecutive. I have lots of videos where not all 5 hit...but why would I want to post that!?
It was actually easy to hit once I got the scope dialed in.
The steel was a paint substrate from my former job. It was blasted steel meant to simulate the steel used in railroad cars. Not sure if it was hot rolled or cold rolled...
My son who is currently serving in Iraq tells me that the M4 was adapted by the military because so much modern warfare is in an urban environment where many encounters are at shorter range. if this is true, that may explain the shooters dissatisfaction at longer range. (this is strictly an uneducated guess on my part.)
I have heard the same thing, I think the lack of long range performance is more due to the light bullet than the gun itself. I'm pretty happy with the accuracy I get with mine, now if only the trigger was better...
@mechaike don't quote me on this but i'm pretty sure the m16 is different in operation... i think it has to do with a different bolt/gas piston operation or something... and no you can't shoot 7.62s in it... it's 5.56 or .223...

I wish I had a cam when I hit 390 yrd m16 rental, just peep sights. You should practice the army minimum of 300 with peep sights only.

what was that scope mount and did it have a space under the rail so that you could use iron sights?

@mechaike The AR-15 is just a semi auto civilian version of the m16. Most AR-15s are chambered in .223 or 5.56. Some are chambered in .308 or 7.62.

@RYSE12345 5.45x39 too. I'd love to have one of those (S&W) if it werent for the corrosive rounds that you can get only from Russia/Bulgaria...

Cool. Where did you get that scope mount? I have been looking for one like that.

Either Cabelas or Gander mountain, they are only like $20. I got one that's a little taller so I wouldn't see the front sight post through the scope.

how far is your ar good for i have a 20 inch olympic arms ar15 and a dmps identical to yours i wanna turn my 20 inch into a sniper style setup

I think 600 meters is the absolute limit for the 5.56/.223 round. I've never shot mine past 275 yards (253 meters).
Get a .308 if you want longer range....

AR15 is the civilian version of the M16. Semi-automatic only. The 7.62s are for my Mosin Nagant rifle.
And yes..it is fun :-)
