Too think the best music, probably of all-time, is almost 40 years behind us really sux. Thank God for these guys and their ambitions too stay dedicated and for the many hours of their teenage and young adult lives their sacrificed because they had a dream, a dream too put music like this out. The ending solo really puts into prespective the chemistry and camaraderie they had as friends too be able too sound the way they do in all their songs. Three guitar players!!!!

People look at the South and say that they're unamerican because they stood for slavery, ignorant people always bring up slavery. Well lemme tell you slavery is only like 10% of what the Confederacy stood for. They fought for true independance because the North was telling the what they should and shouldn't do. The South believe they had the right to have their own laws. Also the North was imposing unjust tax laws on imports
@TheBraveMurder So that may be true, but they STILL stood for slavery as a whole, and a major reason, if not the main reason why they separated the union was because the North wasn't allowing slavery, which was a major part of business there at the time. Slaves were used for labor for almost anything, and were much more dependent on them than the south. Besides, the South lost anyways, and the North formed modern-day America.

@SpeX7X, in Nevada, where prostitution is legal, (it's not legal in the entire state) the women that do it make about sixty bucks an hour, of their own free will, it's not the drug controlled, pimped up mess you see in major cities. First, it is in G. Second, its because it just works. It is fast and long, one of the first popular really long solos in rock. It is actually 3 guitars playing at once. Most solos get stale if they are extended, however, this one does not. That is a sign of a great solo. If you want to bash it for only playing in a pentatonic scale, you would have to bash most songs from the seventies. Complexity doesn't always mean good, just as speed isn't good if there is no feel.
Right firstly, just ignoring any theory or analysis, it just sounds really good and it really takes you away- whereas your average guitarist, no matter how many scales he's learnt, can't make you feel the was this solo makes you feel. Music doesn't have to be about theoretical complexity.
But, on the other hand, there's nothing wrong with being interested in why music sounds the way it does, so why not get technical about this??

Freedom. And equality for that matter. Doesn't 'All Men are Created Equal' sound familiar to you? Isn't slavery just the opposite of that? @SpeX7X Hey, get it right, slavery was not the issue for the Civil War. That issue was raised by the North to make the populous go along. In fact, it was a war over what all wars are really about, money and power. In fact Lincoln proclaimed the slaves free AFTER the war started, and then only in the Confederate states. In point of fact, Lincoln was against doing so, but was forced to put a good face on a very evil war. Freedom was something the Yankees could understand, though in practice...

@SpeX7X, do a little investigating into the real history and timing. All school history books are wrong. You can't trust a thing they say. They don't even get who was the first president of the United States right, it sure as hell wasn't George Washington. There were at least seven Presidents before him, though at that time they served only one year at a time.

Was no such thing as president of the Continental Congress. There were at least eight Presidents, under the articles of confederation, Washington was first to be elected under the ratified constitution, but that still does not make him first to serve in the office

People look at the South and say that they're unamerican because they stood for slavery, ignorant people always bring up slavery. Well lemme tell you slavery is only like 10% of what the Confederacy stood for. They fought for true independance because the North was telling the what they should and shouldn't do. The South believe they had the right to have their own laws. Also the North was imposing unjust tax laws on imports

@TheBraveMurder So that may be true, but they STILL stood for slavery as a whole, and a major reason, if not the main reason why they separated the union was because the North wasn't allowing slavery, which was a major part of business there at the time. Slaves were used for labor for almost anything, and were much more dependent on them than the south. Besides, the South lost anyways, and the North formed modern-day America.

Do you think it would be right if the people in Oregon simply said to them, "Hey I know that prostitution in your state doesn't affect us very much, but we feel that it's wrong and want you to stop." @TheBraveMurder Honestly, prostitution is a much bigger problem. Anything that involves forcing human beings against their will though things like slavery or prostitution is a major problem. I'd be disappointed if Oregon was the only state telling Nevada to stop prostitution. It doesn't matter if it doesn't affect the Oregonians, it's an evil thing that should be stopped simply because people are suffering from it. Many slaves were suffering in the South, stopping them was the right thing to do.

But i guess that number doesn't mean anything compared to the slaves suffering that you mentioned.. Please understand that i do agree slavery is wrong, but look at what happened bacause of 1 sovereignty trying to tell another what to do. Look at the big picture. I'm positive if the North had left the South alone, the South would have had it's own civil rights movement.

@TheBraveMurder But how long would that have taken? Probably a while, they were very dependent on slaves for their economy. So what if 620,000 people died, that's what happens when there's war. And there needs to be war when something so evil is going on. it's better than letting so many people suffer for what would have been decades until the south had any kinds of civil rights movement.

I suppose there's no point in arguing on this one, after all it's boiled down to the point where it's just our personal opinions. @SpeX7X Though I agree with you on how heinous the Souths view/stance on the issue of slavery but to deny their ability to recognize and celebrate the Confederate Flag impunes on their fundamentalfreedom that this country was founded on. I am not a Southerner and thier Flag holds no sway. Serve in the military and been stationed in the South, locals want to display that Flag, so be it. Would rather be out on the open than to be outlawed and worshipped in the shadows. Bad things happen that way!!

In a way, yes it stands for freedom and such, but it also stands for the old Confederacy, the ones who stood by slavery. Display that flag if you wish, fine by me, but it just seems wrong, you know?

@dljc1979 Umm, no, the North abolished slavery before the war. They started it essentially to stop the slavery in the south. And what do you mean 'us'? The Confederacy hasn't existed since 1865. And I seriously doubt you are old enough to have lived during it's time. I mean, it was founded 150 years ago, and no one is 150 years old.

@SpeX7X, in Nevada, where prostitution is legal, (it's not legal in the entire state) the women that do it make about sixty bucks an hour, of their own free will, it's not the drug controlled, pimped up mess you see in major cities. It's regulated, the women are checked weekly for STDs, and things are controlled so the women are safe. It should be that way everywhere. I've never understood why it's illegal to sell what can be freely given away.

@SpeX7X Yes, it's a huge problem bigger than most realize. I did research on human trafficking for a book, you wouldn't believe how widespread the problem is. In some countries, it's even legal.
Now here's something else to consider: Our government seized the infamous Mustang Ranch, for taxes, then decided the only way to get anywhere near the amount owed out of it was to run it. Here they were, selling pussy and booze, and they couldn't make money with it, so they had to close it.

First, it is in G. Second, its because it just works. It is fast and long, one of the first popular really long solos in rock. It is actually 3 guitars playing at once. Most solos get stale if they are extended, however, this one does not. That is a sign of a great solo. If you want to bash it for only playing in a pentatonic scale, you would have to bash most songs from the seventies. Complexity doesn't always mean good, just as speed isn't good if there is no feel.

Right firstly, just ignoring any theory or analysis, it just sounds really good and it really takes you away- whereas your average guitarist, no matter how many scales he's learnt, can't make you feel the was this solo makes you feel. Music doesn't have to be about theoretical complexity.
But, on the other hand, there's nothing wrong with being interested in why music sounds the way it does, so why not get technical about this??

They're playing by ear, playing the notes that come into their head, and licks that sound good to them and it just so happens that most of the notes they play fall mostly within the pentatonic scale (although some of them decidedly aren't e.g. the major third and sharpened fourth,

@Dogslayer1887 (3)that's 7 notes in the solo already, which puts us at the same number of notes in the major scale- so if your going to value your music by the number of notes in the scales it's based around, in your book that's half of western classical music counted as worthless)
The reason this solo sounds so good, isn’t just because of the notes themselves, it’s the tone, the rhythm of the solo- the way the flits in and out of synch with the 4/4 time. And most importantly, the microtonality

@Dogslayer1887 (4) Every time you bend a note, you travel through million of infinitesimally small pitches, and you can hit sweet spots that aren’t on a piano, or a fretboard when you don’t bend. These hidden pitches can’t be summarised as pentatonic. Playing around with the third and fourth in a solo can give you endless amounts of musical expression.
Playing up and down scales can’t.
