Actually, the American Revolution was a sucessionist movement. The Founders considered themselves Englishmen- culturally, politically, and historically; and entitled to all the rights of Englishmen. When the abuses of Westminster reached the critical point, they made the painful decision to sever political ties- ie secession!!!
