@iKnollex u still dont understand the AWD system. AWD only applies when both cars stand dead still. In the roll, the AWD cars just put on weight which lowers the HP. Coupe does matter. coupe r lighter than a sedan and not to mention the SI is lighter than a WRX. Based on your comment, i assume u dunno anything about the power to weight... I own a stg 2 WRB wrx but I've gotta say if your a car enthusiast you would under stand that even though a si makes 197 hp in reality that's a shit load for 2.0l 4 banger. Think about it a n/a 2.0 putting 197 hp while a bugeye makes 227 hp with the force induction of a td04. Only 27 more hp from a turbo...but I know we lose an assload of power thru the awd drivetrain but you can't say the k20 isn't one of the most sophisticated motors out there.

The Subaru was brought here & rebuilt in Lafayette, La to meet USA standards. The hardware is imported from Japan, which makes it as 'JDM' as the Honda that was brought here & had the same thing done to it.
for a stock Si going up against a turboed car w a bit or wrench work done to it.. not too bad. throw in a turbo and matching parts in the Si, and i think the outcome would be different.

well the honda being lighter and better suited for roll races and having v tec and 6 speed much better with about 200 hp stock wrx has 227 stock and gets 165 hp because of awd and isnt good on rolls especially in fourth and fifth i would say this car did good with just a exhaust ....
vtec isnt that big of a deal the 07 si's made 180 or so to the wheels at like 7200 rpm and the wrx comes stock with more than 165 to the wheels and this guy has reflashed his computer deleted the cat and put a full exhaust which helped out the turbo tbecause its esier to make more boost and lets the trubo boost up faster. and maybe the guy in the si couldnt drive.

Nah the Mugen Si just came with an axle back exhaust, body kit and high spoiler, rims, and a suspension set up. After market mods that should only cost maybe half of what Honda asked for. Mostly people paid an extra 10k for a name when they could have gotten a newish but used evo or sti.

This vid represented what happens when an Si faces a WRX. That is reality. WRXs are far from slow. Hondas are not as fast as they are made out to be. They are great cars for normal transportation & gas mileage. That is all. The hype must die as it holds absolutely no weight.

I have raced a WRX & I've raced in a WRX. They really aren't as slow as you think. I've also raced in a 2.5RS (WRX swap so it's essentially as 90's WRX) & it's even faster than the WRXs & STi's of '00+.
Civic Si's aren't that hard to beat in my car. They SUCK @ the light. 197hp means nothing if 127ft-lbs is running the car (K motor). Also, I believe you've seen this before = watch?v=vibdImOH7cY - There's your K motor in action. Not too much to watch my back for.

A Honda Civic really isn't that great of a car. It's called a 'civic' for a reason. It's cheap for a reason. If you throw 10k into a Civic & threw 10k into a WRX, the Civic will look like it's not even moving, feel totally uncomfortable, & still suck @ the light & @ the track. The WRX will be the opposite of all of that.
A K will be more rewarding than a B, especially if you do a a frankenstein (K20 head, K24 block). The K motors can even withstand up to 20lbs of boost without internal enhancement. But so can the EJ22 Turbo. The motor is potent but unfortunately, it resides in a FWD system.

My Legacy has 170whp w/175ft-lbs. I don't really think I have to worry about a stock Si K unless I'm on the highway & even then it will still struggle to beat me (if it does beat me). I have more rotational pull than it does & I've already smoked an Si hatch from a light. No torque=VERY slow acceleration. Also, I weigh 2750lbs. A new age (06+) Civic sedan or coupe is heavier than my car is plus I have AWD. I will be @ a MAJOR advantage. But the Si is welcome to try.

What about it? It isn't a slouch by any means by not comparable to the 22b. Actually, I think a turbo charged S2K would bring it closer to a 22b than an NSX would.
@akabane1984 Hondas best? Does this include the 3.5L V10 550 N/A HP That Honda put into what was going to be the future NSX? Hell There is even the 2.2L K series motor that Mugen has for their Civic RR that puts out 260HP N/A. Sorry Subaru is a great company but when it comes to Engines Honda is largest engine producer in the world. And although all of their current line up is economy based they have engines on tap that are masterpieces of engineering. All N/A as well.
1:Sorry but Subaru already had a 2.2L pushing out 350hp/320TQ. Most of their normal performance engines push out over 300hp easily. That's not mentioning their high performance engines.
2: I'd much rather build an EJ20/257 & achieve 550hp that way than have a 3.5L 550hp engine. More power per liter, just as reliable, & it's a boxer design. Revs come on much smoother & the powerband is more even.
3:Hondas are good but it's Subaru that has masterpiece engines. The EJ is 21yrs old & still produced.
@akabane1984 There is one major difference between Subaru's path to good HP/L vs Hondas. That's that Honda produces all N/A engines minus the SUV RDX. You won't see an N/A Boxer engine achieve the numbers Honda has with their engines. When Subaru achieves 160hp/L N/A let me know.
1:LOL @ power per L. That's not a really good way to account for the lack of hp/tq Honda I4s are known for. Hell, even an N/A EJ20 has more tq than a stock B20A.
2:Subaru has an N/A EJ20 producing 190hp N/A. Honda has a K20 producing 200hp. I think for an N/A boxer engine not for high revs, that's close enough.
3:Honda doesn't offer AWD in even their cheapest cars, Subaru offers AWD all around here in the USA. When Honda gets around to doing that, let me know.

You got off track with my main argument of Honda producing better engines than Subaru. You can't deny the advantage of AWD.
1:You're confusing power per litre for what's 'better'. N/A isn't better. It's just an engine designed to rev high to produce power. Turbo isn't better either. It uses a snail to aid in producing power.
2:If you want to say which one is better, pick one. They both are engines that can be beat on for ages with proper maintenance. The engine with WTQ is the EJ, the engine with WHP is the K20.
3:Subaru=Curves. Honda=High speed cruising. Both handle better than V8 giants anyhow.

My Civic SI puts 210WHP without a turbo and low budget. Plus a WRX feels like a tractor through corners, steering is unresponsive and un-linear, car tracks horribly. Torque doesn't matter when my car is 500 pounds lighter, either way mine is 180Wtq, not too shabby. Like I said, N/A to turbo.

for a 2.0 NA 4 cyl vs a 2.5 FI 4 boxer, the civic does pretty well IMO.
NA va NA the civic has at least 40 Hp to the wheels on an Impreza. and that's 2.0 vs 2.5.
and for the 10k more it would cost for an STI, you can put 350+ to ground on an si.

The Subaru was brought here & rebuilt in Lafayette, La to meet USA standards. The hardware is imported from Japan, which makes it as 'JDM' as the Honda that was brought here & had the same thing done to it.

well the honda being lighter and better suited for roll races and having v tec and 6 speed much better with about 200 hp stock wrx has 227 stock and gets 165 hp because of awd and isnt good on rolls especially in fourth and fifth i would say this car did good with just a exhaust ....

vtec isnt that big of a deal the 07 si's made 180 or so to the wheels at like 7200 rpm and the wrx comes stock with more than 165 to the wheels and this guy has reflashed his computer deleted the cat and put a full exhaust which helped out the turbo tbecause its esier to make more boost and lets the trubo boost up faster. and maybe the guy in the si couldnt drive.

My car tipped the scale at 2797 pounds.... thats a fact, not an opinion. Now the only excuse you have is AWD, which from a stop, you would have an advantage, obviously. Btw, I smoke H22 swaps on the daily so I don't think I'd have a problem w/you @ all. By the way, my Legacy is different than you think. It is an EJ22 that apparently doesn't NEED a turbo against an '06+ Civic, seeing as I smoked one today without effort @ all. Btw, those Civics are heavier than my car is, over 3k lbs.

I"m guessing you are referring to the mugen si. Although I love my Si I have to agree with you. 30k for suspension and a body kit just wasn't cool. Japan gets the good civics anyways. Which that wont be the case for the next gen. Rumor mill has a 1.5l engine going in the next gen civic with no plans for the K20 engine for now.

Nah the Mugen Si just came with an axle back exhaust, body kit and high spoiler, rims, and a suspension set up. After market mods that should only cost maybe half of what Honda asked for. Mostly people paid an extra 10k for a name when they could have gotten a newish but used evo or sti.
Yeah the Jap civics even come with torque... ahh who am i kidding :p

This vid represented what happens when an Si faces a WRX. That is reality. WRXs are far from slow. Hondas are not as fast as they are made out to be. They are great cars for normal transportation & gas mileage. That is all. The hype must die as it holds absolutely no weight.

I have raced a WRX & I've raced in a WRX. They really aren't as slow as you think. I've also raced in a 2.5RS (WRX swap so it's essentially as 90's WRX) & it's even faster than the WRXs & STi's of '00+.
Civic Si's aren't that hard to beat in my car. They SUCK @ the light. 197hp means nothing if 127ft-lbs is running the car (K motor). Also, I believe you've seen this before = watch?v=vibdImOH7cY - There's your K motor in action. Not too much to watch my back for.

A Honda Civic really isn't that great of a car. It's called a 'civic' for a reason. It's cheap for a reason. If you throw 10k into a Civic & threw 10k into a WRX, the Civic will look like it's not even moving, feel totally uncomfortable, & still suck @ the light & @ the track. The WRX will be the opposite of all of that.

A K will be more rewarding than a B, especially if you do a a frankenstein (K20 head, K24 block). The K motors can even withstand up to 20lbs of boost without internal enhancement. But so can the EJ22 Turbo. The motor is potent but unfortunately, it resides in a FWD system.

My Legacy has 170whp w/175ft-lbs. I don't really think I have to worry about a stock Si K unless I'm on the highway & even then it will still struggle to beat me (if it does beat me). I have more rotational pull than it does & I've already smoked an Si hatch from a light. No torque=VERY slow acceleration. Also, I weigh 2750lbs. A new age (06+) Civic sedan or coupe is heavier than my car is plus I have AWD. I will be @ a MAJOR advantage. But the Si is welcome to try.

Hell There is even the 2.2L K series motor that Mugen has for their Civic RR that puts out 260HP N/A. Sorry Subaru is a great company but when it comes to Engines Honda is largest engine producer in the world. And although all of their current line up is economy based they have engines on tap that are masterpieces of engineering. All N/A as well.

1:Sorry but Subaru already had a 2.2L pushing out 350hp/320TQ. Most of their normal performance engines push out over 300hp easily. That's not mentioning their high performance engines.
2: I'd much rather build an EJ20/257 & achieve 550hp that way than have a 3.5L 550hp engine. More power per liter, just as reliable, & it's a boxer design. Revs come on much smoother & the powerband is more even.
3:Hondas are good but it's Subaru that has masterpiece engines. The EJ is 21yrs old & still produced.

@akabane1984 There is one major difference between Subaru's path to good HP/L vs Hondas. That's that Honda produces all N/A engines minus the SUV RDX. You won't see an N/A Boxer engine achieve the numbers Honda has with their engines. When Subaru achieves 160hp/L N/A let me know.

1:LOL @ power per L. That's not a really good way to account for the lack of hp/tq Honda I4s are known for. Hell, even an N/A EJ20 has more tq than a stock B20A.
2:Subaru has an N/A EJ20 producing 190hp N/A. Honda has a K20 producing 200hp. I think for an N/A boxer engine not for high revs, that's close enough.
3:Honda doesn't offer AWD in even their cheapest cars, Subaru offers AWD all around here in the USA. When Honda gets around to doing that, let me know.

2:Honda's highest output N/A K20 was 210HP in the US. However the K20A in the JDM Civic Mugen Type R is 240hp. The F22C I4 puts out 250HP in the japanese S2000.
3:Honda does not make AWD vehicles except in it's Acura line up it caters to an economy based line up minus a few vehicles.
You got off track with my main argument of Honda producing better engines than Subaru. You can't deny the advantage of AWD.

1:You're confusing power per litre for what's 'better'. N/A isn't better. It's just an engine designed to rev high to produce power. Turbo isn't better either. It uses a snail to aid in producing power.
2:If you want to say which one is better, pick one. They both are engines that can be beat on for ages with proper maintenance. The engine with WTQ is the EJ, the engine with WHP is the K20.
3:Subaru=Curves. Honda=High speed cruising. Both handle better than V8 giants anyhow.

I drove a WRX for a week straight and hated it... because I have a FG2 that handles a lot better, inevitably more reliable, and has the N/A ability to haul ass. My Legacy was built from the factory as a people mover with good power, good mpgs, & great handling. Absolutely NONE of that understeering crap that you get from a Honda. From beginning to absolute finish, Subaru>Honda unless you have the NSX out then Impreza STi 22B>Honda NSX Type R. There is absolutely no getting around that Subaru is a much better car than a Honda is.

So bias, man. I haven't raced professionally but I have worked on more cars than I know. Fact is, you are comparing a factory turbo car to a N/A car. The WRX is like 170WHP after drivetrain loss. My Civic SI puts 210WHP without a turbo and low budget. Plus a WRX feels like a tractor through corners, steering is unresponsive and un-linear, car tracks horribly. Torque doesn't matter when my car is 500 pounds lighter, either way mine is 180Wtq, not too shabby. Like I said, N/A to turbo.
