  • i remember seeing this eons ago, thought i dreamt it,thank you for putting my mental state at ease.

  • @themachman19691 My pleasure my electronic friend *+*

  • gran banda

  • I found ot about The Teardrops around '87 because of The Bunney Men connection. Kilimanjaro became one of my favorite albums, this song and Sleeping Gas being my two favorites. I played this album for all my friends, but they thought it was crap.

  • awesome. thanks for posting.

  • Blew me away. Simply great to hear again and still so....fresh. Awesome guys

  • Very good. Julian was great!

  • Love Balfey's ivories on this!!!!!! xx SF (Blissful band!!!)

  • pure shit

  • Perfect pop!

  • Dave Balfe on keys making it sound a bit 'Dalek I Love You' . .brill!

  • Fandabidozee

  • Great song! It's a shame they cut out the psychedelic end of the song though...

  • gives me goosebumps. I Would have been 14 when this came out. I recall coming home from Probe ( as every saturday ) and blowing my bedroom windows out. Liverpool was the centre of the whole world at that time. Rough, and beautiful, it was literally oozing with inspiration and romance. Went back home at christmas and its turning into another indentikit big UK city now. But it was eccentric then.

  • Where is the album version?

  • It was a single released September 1980. Was my fav TX song but that lies between Passionate Friend and Great Dominions now.

It looks like Zoo must have spent literally pennies on the videos.

  • Great tune thou cant remember if this was a single or not, i am guessing it wasn't from the crappy promo for it, if u don't know much about Julian go and get his book head on, even if you don't like him if you are a musician or have any aspirations to become one, especially if you are about 14-15 and see how easy it is to form a band if you really want to, they basically willed themselves into existence as they could really play at the time, helps to have as much talent as Julian thou.

  • Love this choon! awesome!

  • Brilliant pop song - A trippy dippy thing of beauty

  • I wonder what happened to bands nowadays........ the 80's were the glory days in music.......... especially with a group like The Teardrop Explodes

  • @captainsensible012 After the 80s (especially in America, where Hair Metal had previously reigned supreme), many rock musicians wanted to return to the 70s rock vibe, but sang about more unsettling things than were song subjects of the 70s. This gave rise to 90s grunge music. In the new millennium, musicians seemed to want to reclaim 80s New Wave/Pop glory, but most of them are failing. (We have some goodies, though, like MGMT.)

  • I played "Kilimanjaro" to DEATH when it came out. Thanks for posting this! What a great song.

  • this was a love song for me by the teardrops . still is now kilimanjaro was so good ,.when i dream is like a heart beat in me . so so dreamy. and relaxing.10/10.

  • Very cool.

    Sometimes less is more.

    JC and these gents ROCK!

  • Utterly superb!!!

  • THANK YOU for posting this... I've waited so long to see this - also my favorite song by the Teardrop... wish I'd shot a video for my version of "Books" (off the Cope tribute CD).

  • Holy shit!! Man!!! Julian cope is the best! Especially in the teardrop explodes! Amazing!

  • WOW! thanks for this gem!

  • Rare indeed! Cope refused permission for this (and Sunshine Playroom) to be used on the 'Copeluation' video as he hated them both (videos, not the tracks). Should of been a bigger hit than it was, but you could say that about nearly all the Teardrop stuff.

  • @djh29971

WOW, really? ... He hates the video for this?

I think the video matches the track perfectly, it's so of the time. STUNNING!

Thank GOODNESS I have it! And that I could share it on You Tube

    BRILLIANT BAND :-)

  • Great song! I absolutely LOVE this!

  • Oh Julian, avant-garde boy soprano, wannabe actor and expressionist, drama teacher reaching for the heady heights in the 1980s, mixing it with the best the decade had to offer. Like so many many of the great Liverpool bands on the scene at the time so near the cusp. Incredible lyricist and distinctive voice. It is great to listen too and it still resonates. Thanks for the rare video.

  • i love this song and have for thirty years ,rap is garbage

  • Compared to this video, Julian Cope looks very different in the "Treason" video (which I believe was filmed a year later), and not in a good way. How many drugs was he on?

  • This should have been a massive hit. Love it!

  • Very trippy! Julian Cope rules! Remember when it was OK for music to be unpredictable and exciting?

  • Beauuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuutiful baby!

    Beauuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuutiful!

    Gimme MORE,MORE,MORE!!!!!!!

  • I got a message for you Julian.

    You never played norway.

    Please do.

    : D

  • Oooh, That was nice. Forgotten just how good it was - and still is, after all this time. It's aged very well - yet hardly at all.

  • Great to see this, pretty rare like you say. Thanks!
