I didn't know AOL standed for America Online. I just thought it was another email service. And dial up internet? no wonder games took so long to load when I was like 3 or 4.
:04 hahahaha i remember that. being online and yet still having a button for "internet". That was probably my least clicked button. I always clicked "games" to read about video games.
@VirginiaBeachNative LOl i remember those days! lol.. beinga kid on the internet when it was limitless.. 11 yolds scoreing pics from a 19yold chick... that feeling!..(then no sendin back! lol or gathering bunch to show off your friends.smooth talkin 1 second..GHOST THE NEXT! CONNECTION FAILED,LOL). NO YEAR FOR THE INTERNET WILL EVER BE BETETR THAN 1997-1999 (4.0 AOL SHOULD HAVE BEEN FROZEN IN TIME).SLOW yea but fast then! +the anticipation of a fie fine girls body halfway downloading & "GOODBYE"
Most of you young fucks dont remember when AOL used to bill for hourly dial-up charges.......I remember one of my monthly bills was over $600......I was so pissed
Seriously. I used to patiently wait at the keyboard while it dialed, listening to Rush's 2112 on my headphones while I waited. Usually about halfway through the CD (20-30 minutes, I was connected.)
I sure do remember those days long before having DSL.I remember each time when I would turn on the computer and log in to have internet access it would make beeping noises.
This is quickly becoming a nostalgia grower. In Internet terms, this seems like an eternity! No wikipedia, no Youtube, primitive BBS forums, fewer fonts (though this was quite hip by '97 standards, for instance the Trebuchet MS which had just been introduced in '95.) I still feel the '90s had more big changes than the '00s, which is simply an extension of the big changes of the '90s socially. 1993 was much different than '97 technologically!
haha...I didn't chat until the early 00s, but i remember when i was 13 in 03 i was chatting for the first time and someone asked me a/s/l on yahoo chat. I didn't know what it meant, so i asked, and they told me it meant age sex location. I thought they were asking me my location, so they can have sex with me LOLZ i got scared and turned the computer off HAHAHAHA
Aol failed because they stayed like this when everyone else was going to google and internet explorer.
