  • Religion is for retards who need to believe in fairy tales to dictate their lives for them.

  • happy time!

a biggggggg hug from Morocco ^^

  • @ummsalama23 "The principle in question here is: the Islamic acts of worship which are repeated at certain intervals and are thus special occasions, have been prescribed by Allah and are sufficient for mankind. If any other gatherings are invented in addition to these gatherings..."

If you actually read that fatwa, it actually talk about innovated gathering only related to the act of worship.

It's wasn't talking about gathering to celebrate your friend's birthday.

    Do you actually read it?

Celebrating birthdays is bid'ah. Most of the Muslim scholars agree on this matter. Bid'ah leads people astray and then into the Hellfire.

Besides having no place in Islam, it also involves the imitation of Jews, Christians & disbelievers. The prophet (peace be upon him) said "Whoever imitates a people is one of them".

On a lighter note, why celebrate birthdays? You only become another year closer to your death :D

  • @UserNotice "Whoever imitates a people is one of them".

I'm pretty sure the Christians and Jews were the one who invent the computer, the satellite, the television etc. Why do you imitates them and use all their inventions? Are you one of them?

Bid'ah in those context most of the time only involves events of worship. If we celebrate birthday by worshipping the moon god, that is bid'ah. Did this lady here worship another god during her birthday?

Birthdays have become a ritualistic event which occurs on an annual basis - it brings no benefit whatsoever. As Muslims we don't even celebrate the birthday of the the last prophet, Muhammad (pbuh), the greatest man to ever walk on the face of the earth. What makes our birthday so special? Did any of the prophets celebrate birthdays? Do you see any of the companions celebrate birthdays? Nearly all the scholars say it is bid'ah, yet you overlook the people of knowledge.

  • @ahmadaz96001

Bid'ah does not mean worshiping others beside Allah; it is the innovation new things in Islam. Even if you do not think birthdays are bid'ah, there are usually other haram aspects involved - alcohol, music, haram food, etc.

As much as I respect Dr Zakir Naik, I wouldn't celebrate birthdays just because he said so - there are plenty of people with more knowledge that him who say the opposite.

  • @ahmadaz96001

The use of computers, satellite, etc, can all be used for beneficial purposes like gaining knowledge, used at work (computers), save lives (computers), etc. The use of technology has nothing to do with celebrations or bid'ah.

Bid'ah is about innovations in the deen of Islam, not innovations in technology and science. Since there is a lot of doubt in this topic, we should not celebrate birthdays as the Prophet (peace be upon him) has encouraged us to avoid what is doubtful.

  • @ummsalama23 The link you gave me is about innovation on national and international scale and is something totally unrelated to celebrating your friend's birthday.

And that hadith is about replacing one celebration with another. It doesn't forbid celebrating birthday.

Either you're right or Zakir Naik is wrong

  • @ummsalama23 I never say party. I said celebration of birthday.

So where exactly in hadith or Qur'an does it say you cannot celebrate birthday with a friend or family?? Give me the hadith or the verse, please.

  • @ummsalama23 Narrated Ibn Abbas: When the Prophet arrived at Medina, the Jews were observing the fast on 'Ashura' (10th of Muharram) and they said, "This is the day when Moses became victorious over Pharaoh," On that, the Prophet said to his companions, "You (Muslims) have more right to celebrate Moses' victory than they have, so observe the fast on this day." Bukhari Book #60, Hadith #202

What is the difference between celebrating a friend's birthday and celebrating annual Moses victory?

  • Salam alaikum, I never knew that girls would like Lowkey and nas very rare to find this case. Anyways I really enjoy watching your videos but importantly how you represent islam so well especially as a convert. As a born-muslim I have a good deal of knowledge about islam but im not so much of a practicing person. Inshallah I'll pursue and work harder fromnow on. Honestly this'll sound cheesy but you have opened my eyes and you have been very inspirational. May allah bless you and everyone! Amen!

  • Hope you had a great happy 4th of July! Salam

  • which part of California do you live that has130 degree heat?

  • @nahidsharin I think you misunderstood me :) I said 103 degrees

  • @SayfAlMujahid99 Birthday celebration wasn't a Christian or Jewish celebration. There's no such thing as celebrating birthday in the Torah or Gospel. Even atheist, Chinese and Hindu's celebrate them.

If Muslims were allowed to celebrate a child birth with Aqiqa, then probably a celebration of that day were allowed too. After all birth day is a good day. Everyone have one. Not only Christians and Jews nor atheist.

  • Happy Birthday Sarah :) May allah bless you :)

  • @SayfAlMujahid99

Grow up and throw out your narrow mindedness.Give me any reference where celebrating birthday or being happy on an independence day is haraam.

  • Long live the metric system!
