  • do u enjoy working out

  • @nickrunaway2

One of the best questions I have every gotten. I love training someone and sharing my knowledge more than anything. So, when I am in the gym , sharing the client's experience with them, for me, there is no better feeling of professional satisfaction. I don't enjoy going all of the time to train myself. Remember, life is a trade-off. Everything you do has a cost. Every hour I am there is an hour I am not home hanging with my family, so ,I enjoy it less. 1Family, 2friends, 3gym.

  • Good man

  • i learned something here, i was setting the machine up all wrong so it would cause me to tighten me feet in order to get a grip on it, now i know to set it so that my feet are relaxed.

    Thanks i didn't know that.

  • Awesome body, very helpful for beginners. Listen to him! watch and learn, dont skip reps or do exercises wrong!

  • Hello Vic, I like your vids and all your advice in the comment section very helpful, I was once told by an experienced lifter that if your muscles are not completely sore(not injured sore but worked over sore you know) the next or second day after a workout than you are wasting your time... just curious if you think or feel that this statement is true

  • This guy looks like my professor.... if he was super muscular.

  • sweet, finally a guy that explains every point there is about specific exercises. easy subscription

  • Extremely helpful. Thanks vic. :D

  • how much time should you spend resting between each set? Thanks

  • @ashleytaylor1985

Between 2 minutes to 2 1/2 minutes. Vic

  • wow... he's muscular.

  • So u saying its more mind power?? Vic have u ever taken gear??

  • @274sao

Where is success in general. Is it outside or inside.Everything from planning meals ahead to dragging myself to the gym when I don't feel like going-Where does that thought and desire reside? In my Body? No.It is a decision that I make in my mind.I had decided a long time ago to see where I can take my physique. I appreciate you thinking that I look enhanced. However,I wouldn't lack thickness in some areas if I was, especially neck, collar bone area.I'm an average guy making a decision.

  • 3 excerises is enough for a good work out for legs?

  • @Pkingyou234

Actually, I think it is plenty. Given that most guys skip legs or don't treat them as seriously as they should, I will settle for 2 exercises, 10 sets , really concentrating. A third exercise would be a bonus. Vic

  • Vic you're very awesome :') you have clarified all my mistakes that I've been doing with the leg workout routine. Thank you so much!

  • amen. I see so many guys in the gym, testosterone flying, weights are swinging, guys getting all crazy faced. i have to laugh. Exercise should feel great. It should not be stressful. The weights are just a means to a goal. I get more intensity from my mind than the actual dumb bell. It feels great and my results have been crazy. Cheers Vic!

  • thank you once again vic. Your workout routines are great

  • How many sets and reps should you do for each exercise?

  • @danieltij3

5 to 6 sets per exercise. I typically call them attempts. Vic

  • @vicsnatural do you go until failure for each attempt?

  • @danieltij3

Usually- but failure here means something a bit different. It is "failure" within a context, that is, the context of good form. So, it doesn't necessarily feel like the same failure as when you are using your entire body. This feel as bit different, but you can look at it as training until you can't do it anymore within the context of good form. Peace,Vic

  • Happy that someone gives a good advice for these exercises. Been in the gym for more then 6 years and still i can say, there were some new and useful information.. Feel glad that there are still naturals who love the exercise for their own good, without shouting, dropping weights.

  • Great Video ... Excellent Workout.

  • just stumbled upon ur vids.. i had a question though - i get lower back pain when i do leg presses on those types of machines to the point where i pulled this excercise from my routine. However i really enjoy that machine since like you said you can manipulate what part of the leg to work. Do you think the lower back pain could be a result of letting the weight go to far down? Or is it the way i sit once in the machine?

  • @teckio24

Indeed, if you are pulling from the lower part of your foot/leg, certainly you are further away form the weight and this could cause lower back pain. However, I have pretty good intuition, and I would suggest that you should consider leg presses and don't go down too far so as not to stretch or engage the lower back. This is a finishing exercise. A final touch so to speak. The lion's share of the development comes from pressing movements. Take those slow. Vic

  • thank you. very nice!

  • Wow finally a smart man who knows his stuff with a balanced body. Another well-deserved subscriber for you

  • @Matticusjk

I thank you for your interest in my work. Vic

  • Subscribed!

  • ARE these are your usual weights !! Most of bodybuilders focus on heavy weights for big mass !! whats your point of view Mr Vic ?

  • @mido3003

These are demo weights. However, you don't need much weight or the typical heavy weight to build muscle. Some guys are using such heavy weights that they are missing the muscle completely. The objective is to find manageable weights that you can use with a great degree of facility using this form. Peace, Vic

  • nicely proportioned body, unlike most of these dumb assholes who look like they do biceps every day of the week as if its useful in any way lol.

  • Hello mr.Vic i dont have leg press at home, is it possible to substitute leg press for some other type of excersise without machine?

    Thank you

  • @lajkaboy Yeah bud- I do squats without weights sometime- I do this in my band workout, on my site. These squats are similar to those used by top ballet dancers. Who's got better development than those gents, not many? To answer the question, you might not get huge, but developed yes and incredible shape.

    Peace, Vic

  • Vic, I really like your videos. You have a great way of explaining the movements in great detail. I look at some exercises in a completely new light now. Thank you!

  • Listen to this guy. He knows what be talk/doing

  • hi i like this one i really do

  • Best freaking work out guides on youtube. It's usually a ripped man talking non-stop without doing the exercises. I like this a lot!

  • Fantastic vid! Love the tip about foot placement on leg presses.......going to try switching it up this week for legs.

  • Your workout methods are very interesting. Subscribed.

I'm curious, what's your opinion on compound exercises like squats and deadlifts?

  • @MultiWingnut

Hi friend- I have much respect for those- I wrote a piece last evening on dead lifts - come to my facebook page

look me up by vicsnatural victor costa- etc... I received this question many times. Sorry took so long to answer-

The long and the short of it is - I will make a vid- but I have a great deal of experience with these movements and they are not for everyone. Sure you will enjoy the fb page

  • I really like the video and it's great that your emphasizing the importance of training the legs.

  • Nice video, great information!

  • So the debate ensues about eating. I am delighted to put up any posts that stirs debate. It is good to have a different perspective from everyone. However, when it comes to eating. The debate as I see it is which is more important eating "right" or training. There is a great understanding between men and women that I believe we can all agree, "garbage in - garbage out". This goes for the mind - and the body. It is not a judgmental statement it simply elementary. Love your body- Peace all,Vic

  • i always begin with leg extension for preexaust the quads...

  • a great exercice to start leg workout...i always do it first....

  • How many sets per exercise 3 - 4 ?

  • @orehajones

Correct- between 4 and 5 I would say should do it.

I will write a big comment on Facebook this week- one of the topics I will discuss.

    Vic

  • Hi Friends _ I don't know what to say other than Thank you. Vic

  • You are AMAZING!

  • I must say u defiantly make the best videos you tell us everything we need to no not like everyone else. I have learned a lot by watching your videos and i think im gonna start doing legs more often haha Thanks.

  • Gday vic, how can i find your mp3 workout? is it free and is it a full body workout or is upperbody seperate from legs? cheers mate

  • @lilFundak

    on my site friend-

  • Why take Roids?....

  • You da man Vic

  • vic you remind me of frank zane very cut and muscley.

  • @LionHartTube

    yes attempts means sets-

how many reps- I teach form and use a rep range between 8 and 15 Vic

  • do you like to do more reps with less weight or more weight and less reps??

  • @fuckyouvevo11

I like a good solid combination of the two methods- somewhere in between is bodybuilding- Victor

  • @vicsnatural thank you for your help. your videos are great help too.

  • very informative thank you, however i have no access to a gym i have some dumbells and thats it what can i do for my legs because i cycle ALOT but my legs are always alot thinner and less toned than the rest of my body

  • @2564651jcr

Most dancers have never lifted weights and they put most gym rats to shame. Try some of the squats without weights in my Band Workout. Peace. Vic

  • @vicsnatural thanks last question when i weight train should i be focussing on an individual body part each night or should i do a mixture each night?

  • @2564651jcr

You really should think about combining body parts otherwise you'll find yourself in the gym every day in order to complete training your whole body. Peace, Vic

  • I like your mind set buddy!!! good tutorials just found u out, and like it so far :). DOONT WORRY ABOUT THEM HATERS i admire you and your hard work! I am in the midst of training and doing a bodybuilder routine. my shoulders are kinda messed from past over exerting but working em back! if you have any advice its always appreciated!

  • @mike10709 I will give any advice I have- thanks for the support. Vic

  • i usually do my leg presses first is that the wrong way of doing it.

  • @sf2explus

Nothing is wrong- try both ways- maybe alternate each week- you are the architect, I am just a guide- Peace, Vic

  • You look AMAZING!

I also like how you use light weights. if you dont know what you are doing when using heavy weights, you could really hurt yourself for life. You will regret it when you get older.

And you could totally be cast as Clark Kent in the next Superman movie.

You have a new subscriber just because of this video. Looking forward to checking your other videos out after my leg workout.

  • haha 4:31

  • you look like a computer nerd/bodybuilder :L

  • @immortalhenry1

ok- cool - whatever gets the job done- I gave up caring what I look like friend- I just go with being myself and putting out info like I know how. Best to you, Vic

  • @vicsnatural the bodybuilder gave up caring what he looks like?

  • @JonPedrohijo

well- to an extent- I train because I love it- when you think about it all I can control is the training- whether or not to put my heart in it- or to loaf it- whether or not to do legs when I don't want to or do them. How you look is simply a result of what I have decided to do a long time ago. Just do the doing and the results follow. If I care about what I look like I will be focused on what I look like and not the training. Subtle difference but important to me- Peace, Vic

  • Awesome video as well as good tips on how to tweak a couple little things in form that will allow you to get more out of your workout. Well done.

  • you and your big words vic.

  • So if im doing legs, should i only do these 3 workouts? is 3 workouts enough for a leg day or should i do a few more?

  • @xxbigpimpin6969 3 exercises for a natural bodybuilder - more than enough for a specific session- Peace, Vic

  • have you used this kind of slow phase in your exercises when you were younger and when you have been competing in bodybuilding competitions? or after you got a good physique before experimenting and concluding with your new workouts style and trying to address to us that this is correct and effective?

  • @theambitiouskid

I pretty much used this throughout- I do these a bit slower in the demos as I am explaining- so consider playing with the speed. When you get really good at putting all of your energy in to the muscle, you can act a bit more liberally with speed and momentum and weights. In the beginning, I believe it is great to use smaller weights, get the hang of the training so to speak. Then, play with the speed and poundage a bit. I would say I use a 20 percent variation in speed. Vic

  • Are your hands relaxed Vic? Lol I love your tips dude

  • @yomasta4ever

Yeah man- way relaxed- Peace, Vic

  • Great video! However do you think these 3 exercises are enough for my legs workout? The other guys in the gym say I need to do dead lifts, but I'm only 17 and have heard that they are harmful for my spine and bones at all.

  • @kalintohu

These are more than enough for now-

I am not anti-deadlift, however, at 17 these is a fine repertoire of exercises-

I wouldn't say they are harmful for bones and spine per se. I would say that anything done improperly could harm

    you. Vic

  • its nice to have someone of intelligence demonstrating this for a change.... very effective tips thanks...

  • It's nice to have someone of intelligence demonstrating this for a change... Never knew about keeping your feet lose, thanks for all the great tips

  • Face of a scientist and body of a body builder :|

  • everytime i go to the gym i think to my self, what did Vic say

your like a friend, helping me not to injure myself

    thanks for al

  • dont leg extension put a lot of tension on the knees?

  • @getlikemc

Leg extensions put stress on the leg generally- However, if you go to a physical therapist, a hospital or any nursing home you will see a leg extension-Many people use this apparatus already and I showed a way to lower the weight and get an excellent pump. Sure, it isn't right for everyone. A good indicator that an exercise isn't good for you is that it hurts. If you have an exercise for legs that doesn't put tension on your knees- please tell the community. Vic

  • Thank you so much for tips in workout, you are so great! Keep it up:D

  • wow this is a really good and informative video... Thank you very much!!!!

  • Great Video! This makes me want to go out and get a good leg workout in!

  • Wow, you are an inspiring man

  • @skullbreaker7

I am happy that you find what I do valuable- Thanks for the support

    Peace, Vic

  • This is probably the best demonstration video I've ever seen.

  • thank u for these tips

  • @HectorAhmedful

    You are most welcome

    Peace, Vic

  • Clarke Kent?!

  • Comment removed

  • @DeliciousMuzic From what I remember drinking the bowl of milk after having cinnamon toast crunch is nothing short of a slice of heaven as I recall. However, I would not suggest that these are good choices for anyone, especially children. Start eating oatmeal and fruit, that would be an adequate substitution. Peace, Vic

  • just out of curiosity...do you use any supplements?

  • @BBK727

    no supplements.

  • @vicsnatural wow man thats very impressive. keep crankin the iron!!!!

  • @vicsnatural No supplements? At all! What do you eat?

  • @UNIQUE1982

It's what I don't eat that keeps me in shape- no sugar- no white flour- no friend foods and no alcohol. Also, no processed foods either. I only eat whole foods; fruits, veggies, grilled meats- and grain breads. I eat 3 times per day. Peace, Vic

  • holy shit buff nerd

  • Great exercises, you are in great shape. i am at about 17%BF I am trying to get down to around 11%. I have the muscle but my fat is covering it, frustration. I guess I need to eat cleaner.

  • @agenthelios1

Regardless of the body fat, eating clean can't hurt- you'll see it makes a huge difference in energy level. Peace,

    Vic

  • Thanks for these tips and pointers. Would you recommend training legs twice a week?

    Regards,

    AJ

  • @engelspiel

Nah man- once per week- Vic

  • Very good and informative video.

  • over time thought doesnt that exercise put damage to your knees?

  • @laxgivens

    Hi friend-

No doubt "over time" there are many things that can be harmful. However, I have seen a lot of physical therapists helping people rehab after surgeries, etc.. My mom's doctor has her doing this in his office and last I visited a nursing home, leg extension machines were all they had for legs. I have a strong feeling there are a lot of folks who don't train their legs at all, or with 1/3 of the effort of other body parts. Most likely, no one will be over doing it. Wink

  • Vic, if I don't have access to leg press (i workout on home gym) and I do squats and deadlifts, would you approach those moves with the same methodical form you do for leg press?

  • @asklyar

Indeed- I actually have a band workout on my site- you can do squats without weight using movements similar to ballet dancers that can fry your legs. Take a look at the band workout on my site. Vic

  • must take a lot of discipline and good genetics to get a physique like that naturally.

  • I have a question, would these exercises make your legs bigger ( might be a stupid question) but I know free weight is the way to go if you want to gain muscle mass. I do legs once a week, all the exercises you showed us are available at my gym. thx

  • @pkidro

I never understood the difference in the tension. Every bodybuilder does leg presses. Is s squat really a free weight exercise. When I do a squat there wouldn't be much of a difference if I was using a smith machine to do the squats. The question can, these exercises make your legs bigger isn't stupid at all.The answer is the only thing that makes your legs bigger is YOU. You should really train and experiment. don't be afraid to take everyone's advice and trust your intuition. PeaceVic

  • @vicsnatural awesome thank you, cause i dont wanna look like a light bulb :D , I've been working out for 3 months, I was 136, now iam 147, got amazing results and I can't be happier.

  • You have the face of an accountant, but the body of Hercules

  • Hey Vic, for my leg workout i start with leg press and do 230 kgs, then move to seated leg press with 195 kgs, leg extensions with 50 kgs, then seated leg curls with around 70 kgs, is that a good enough leg workout for my age(im 15), what would you recomend to improve my leg workout?

  • @krisyboy100

    Pretty darn good for anyone-

I am an advocate of taking it easy at your age. I would only train once per week with weights- meaning once for each body part- don't put too much stress on the joints- you have a long life ahead of you.

  • Thanks man, gonna try this out in a little bit.

  • HOLY SHIT

  • thank you i will try it tomorrow

  • You say youre natural but how are you stage ready all year round?

  • @Kryptsanies

Easy- I have been stage ready for 20 years- I eat the same with very little variation. I have a tremendous amount of discipline, sometimes to my detriment and I train extremely hard.

My mind is what keeps me in this condition all year round. I don't drink alcohol and I never eat any sugar or white flour. It's been like this for about 15 years now. I'm not special, anyone who follows this like I do will be where I am if not better. It is just commitment, nothing more. Vic

  • This is a very great video. Before I used to do high weights, which put tension on all the wrong places. Then I tried a managable weight and did it slowly. The amount of tension in the actual muscle groups I wanted to grow was crazy, I could feel all the muscle fibres shaking in my legs, such a sensation.

The next day my legs for the first time felt sore, not pain, but a weird pump-like feeling everytime I walk, or stand up.

    Thanks Vic!

  • Great tips, good video, and great explanation. Its hard when i try to teach my friends the right workout because nobody likes doing legs and they neglect them, and i hate that, lol. Keep on keepin' on man.

  • Damn. I wish I has your abs. You are such a defined/ripped dude. That says a lot for you; that you are a hard worker and are very disciplined with your diet and weight training regimen. I mostly noticed them when you were performing the leg press. Good job and keep up the work. You are truly an inspiration.

  • You make lifting an artwork. Peace to you brother!

  • really nice video ! comments and all the explanations !

  • Hey Vic, how come you left out the most important leg workout according to most bodybuilders- the squats?

  • @0680496

My work is about teaching and protecting people. I tried to make sure my people wouldn't get injured. It could take me an hour just to explain the squat so that I could go to bed at night knowing some kid in Indiana, New Jersey, Wyoming or even the U.K. and Australia, could misinterpret something and get hurt.

I have to be very careful in looking out for people. I think these things out carefully. To me this seemed safe and sensible. Vic

  • I keep watching your vids for inspiration, constantly!

  • dont say that you need to do leg work to get a stronger upperbody because i like the fact that not alot of people do lower body and there is not wait. your letting out the secret

  • hey vic thanks for the vid, i've been weight training for about five years and its suprising what you can pick up from videos like yours so thanks again

  • your my hero vic almost like a second Jack Lalane to me :D

  • i have a bigger upper body compared to my slim legs.

do i need to work them out more than 3 sets each leg program ,i cant tel if im over working them thus slowing the muscle growth, any advise thnks....cool video by the way..

  • @roycondo

You have probably been training upper body with a greater degree of discipline for a long time- Keep training, don't get discouraged. I would go 5 to 6 sets, once per week, increase your weights by 10 percent as well. There is a balancing mechanism in the universe, at some point it will balance with intention. Peace, Vic

  • Is it cool to workout legs twice a week

  • @jamesblunto94520

Certainly, you can. I have found it challenging to do so and get enough rest for healing . Vic

  • Dear Vic - when someone has several years of training under his belt and at present can only train twice a week, would would you recommend as far as structure of the training goes - training the whole body at each session (i.e. each muscle group would be trained 2x weekly) or would you split the body in two and train half of the muscle groups at each session - thus training each muscle once weeekly. Best wishes from Poland

  • @biglabrador I would train each muscle once per week. so split the entire body into two workouts. Peace, Vic

  • Hey Vic. You have a great build overall. But I have noticed you do alot of reps with lighter weight more so than few reps with heavy weight. Is this for demonstration purposes or is this really the correct way to workout? It just seems that a big guy like you must lift alot of weight. Great video. And thanks again.

    Brenden

  • @hazardroll1

Well - I focus on form- Certainly I could use higher weights, but I prefer the pumping sensation of more repetitions. Remember , the weights I am using are not light- they are what I refer to as manageable. That means using weight with a high degree of control. I can use higher weights than what are in the video- however, like I to use weights that give me a good pump, as compared to just pushing heavy weight.

    Peace, Vic

  • cool, but no calves, lunges?

  • @hordetrooper

I have calves in another vid here on youtube. Peace, Vic

  • I train a 43 yr Haitian women who does the whole rack on leg extensions.Last set 250lbs she gets 14 reps. This is after squats and drop sets on leg presses.I can't get her to compete,or even get a photo of her,she married and the husband doesn't know that I train her.

I've never seen anyone muscle up so fast since I worked out with Jimmy Quinn back in the 70's.

    I love your site,I use your tips......Grove

  • your a great teacher man,i thank you!!!!!!!

  • hey Vic do you do anything for calves? I bike a lot and my quads are massive but for some reason my calves don't grow proportionally. I've heard its genetics but I was wondering what you think? They aren't as small as triathlon runners but not as developed as my quads.

    ps: your principles work =)

  • hey vic

whats the best leg routine somthing that can just kill my legs.

    thanks

  • @zealote

My opinion is that the universe has equipped us with a balancing mechanism. Although you can improve, all body parts independent of one another, you will never reach your full potential of development unless all muscles are participating. Vic

  • yes they can grow fom the upper part eventhough they dont workout their legs

i know its harder .. but they can.. i saw this guy at my gym ,he was huge! from the upper part just like this guy but his legs!!! hahaha they were just as he has them bfore ever starting working out!! such skinny legs! u coud see right away he didnt neverEVER try to increase the size of his legs... he looked so stupidhahaha so workout you legs guys!!!

  • Vic, do you do any squats at all>

  • @didoexcel

I do not do any squats and haven't for about 10 years. Vic

  • hey man i have a question.

Im underweight and what most people call, a hardgainer. So i need some mass in my legs quickly.

Should i do more reps with low weight or less reps with high weight? And how many times should i repeat each excercise? And should i do it at the pace you are doing or should i do it faster?

  • @EternalElfe0

Live em - but so many injuries- it doesn't seem like an exercise that my peeps will do for the rest of their lives- I am for it- but I have a big responsibility here. A lot of people will just say do it this way- I have to protect and teach- I am for it but have yet to make a video for squats. I do show them in my band workout that is on my site . Peace, Vic

  • @nymjifan12

Definitely you should be incorporating a power move like a lunge- or something that combines a movement you would normally make on the field but with added resistance.

    Peace, Vic

  • Hey Vic, great video. I've been looking to break up my routine a little bit instead of trying to work different kinds of muscle groups all in one day, for instance I had been doing biceps, triceps and leg in one day. I find it a bit too much and this video whilst it has not given me exercises I wasn't doing before, has educated me to more of a degree than I was before so thank you for that mate.

  • cool video mate. but 4-5 reps each exercice isnt it way to much? i mean there is no growing i think

  • @VitalSignWWWWWWWWWWW

Squats are great- however- again, I am am looking help people , but keep them safe- So many folks have back injuries and by doing a video it is a de facto endorsement for the exercise. My goal is to help people get in shape but safely. Vic

  • hey Vic i want to ask you something

is this the right way to work my legs if i want explosiveness because i m a basketball player or i ll have to do the exercises with more speed?

  • @skipper375

You need some strength training of course, but true you should be doing some more explosive movements that help vertical etc... I would recommend a bit of a faster pace for athlete's explosiveness. Much different than the way I would want to dig in to bodybuilder's muscle. You are correct, more speed for performance athletes. Vic

  • vic i just bought your dvd it should be here monday. i am excited about it. i am not new to bodybuilding . i have been working out for 2 and half year. i have a good built already. but i want muscle like you. you have ridiculous muscles. my question is do you do everything once a week? and does that video includes your personal routine?

  • Hey vic i appreciate this vid alot. I've always had feet problems and i am unable to run because of it, but leg workouts do not seem to bother them. I liked how you mentioned that people cannot progress if there legs are not worked out either.. i have not been doing this. I have a very important question about that. My upper body is very toned and defined but i have these piss ant legs. I hate them, and starting tomorrow im going into legs. Should i take upper body out of my routine for awhile?

  • Friend- I say this with the utmost respect. The reason they don't look the way you want is because you hate them. You have decided to like doing certain body parts over others. What have your arms done for you that your legs haven't? Yours is a complete body. When an architect builds a building he shouldn't care less for the foundation and spend less time on it than the roof. Don't stop doing upper body-start doing legs. Peace, Vic
