  • I heard this on the radio today and got a raging case of the creeping willies. I expected to come here to see everyone saying so. Sad.

  • How could any woman (or girl) say no to that face and that sexy voice? Purrrrrrrrrrr!

  • Back when I was young they were legal the day it no longer smell like piss.

  • For what it's worth, Gary Puckett didn't write any of his own material. That makes me happier although I do love all those songs with similar themes. And zfleming44, I'm happy you're still together after all those years! Shows age is but a state of mind!

  • Great song - Great times. I remember the song well and events in my life at the time

  • Just an AWESOME SONG !!! Gary Pucket, (like Micheal McDonald) had one of the most unique voices in pop/ rock history, and nearly impossible to duplicate !!!! thanks for sharing the video !!!

  • Gary Puckett never looked like he should have such a deep, strong voice! His songs had a common thread. Did he write them? Makes you wonder but man, it was great music!

  • I was born in Costa Rica and Gary Puckett was the favorite for me and my sister, I had the 45rpm, is like new, played fantastic, thanks for the video, the memories are unique

  • One of the greatest voices of all time Gary Puckett. Great song. 6 people are tone deaf and don't like this.

  • My favorite song ever. Thanks for posting it :)

  • @zfleming44 Congratulations to you and your bride ...

  • I dig the 'MOD' look of their clothing and hair styles.

  • @ROGER459 Yep.his old ass is gonna go to jail

  • Sounds like old boy is a pedophile

  • This is a favorite of mine it is definitely in my top10 of all time Thanks for posting it

  • This song is about... Jail Bait [13] ....!

  • Ihave always loved this song by this group thanks for posting it

  • This song is so powerful. It restores my memories of when I was 4 yrs old. Thanks to timeless pieces like these, a 4 yr old boy can hold memories of the late 60's.

  • Statutory Rape?

  • @LeapoldScotch You have a clue?

  • I fell in crazy stupid love when this song came out. She used to sneak out of her house(which I didn't know until much latter) change into tight jeans and high heeled boots, put on her make-up; then show up at the local hot-rod hang out. I fell into lust..bad. We would street race and well you know... until dawn. She would never let me drive her all the way home. Told me my pipes would wake everyone up. Debbie was barely 15 when we met. A friend found out her age by chance. Broke my heart.

  • @drbogo321 :( that's very sad

  • @caitlinatwood I worked the door at the local scooter trash bar. When I walked in(for my shift) the house band played, Foreigner's "Head Knocker". It was kinda my theme song. A big(6'1" 240lbs.) bad(12-1-1Pro fights) biker and that little girl really got to me. To this day, my eyes swell up, when I hear "Young Girl".

  • @drbogo321 do you still talk to her or anything?

  • @caitlinatwood It all happened so very fast. I learned how young she was. Before I could wrap my head around that ; her mean, drunken, redneck Daddy found out too. He had the family packed up, in their station wagon and off to his brother's place, in Florida. It took place in a little over a week. I never saw or spoke to her again. She left a letter with her cousin for me. I've still got that letter. Haven't read it in over a decade...Wonder how it will affect me now?

  • a succesfull minnesotan! and in the Arts too!

  • Love,Love,Love, Oh how I loved being a teenager at that time!

  • lip sync in here but still very good

  • This was so much of my early days. I was 22 and my bride was 17 in 1966. Still together after all these years. Great song and it was so revelant in the day.

  • @zfleming44 Today you would get busted for child abuse. I don't think this country has improved. Its just gotten more restrictive since then. I'm 67 now, had girls as young as 12 throwing themselves at me back then. that young I dissuaded, but tried not to hurt their feelings.I wish I was as lucky as you and found my life mate. Still single and content. But I look back at all the women and wish it could have worked with one. My compliments Sir..

  • I was 18 when this song was out and met my girlfriend in Torquay, England in summer of 67. This was our record. She was a lovely nurse from Banbury, uk. Happy days. Still have the old record. Great song.

  • me traer recuerdos de niñez huauu !!!!!!! fabulosos

  • mis recuerdos de adolecente estan con este grupo, buena musica

  • The ultimate compliment to a singer, I thought he was black the first time I heard him.

  • A story in a song... Kinda hard to find today. Thanks for sharing.

  • @firefieldmpt, you and i both. For sure, I'm just fine living in the past, at 50 I don't foresee it ever changing either. With XM and You tube, I'm reliving the past , whatta ride !

  • @ber7961 Nostalgia's not what it was.

  • What a lovely voice he had. I remember getting their LP, around 1969

  • try not analyzing and just enjoy the music, no matter where it comes from, it's good. Grow up!

  • @KDMensch Im British lol

  • check out our local band at garypuckettmusic

  • This song was written for Saoirse Ronan!!!!

  • I AM STUCK IN THE 60S AND 70S FOR LIFE SATILITE RADIO AND YOU TUBE BEST MUSIC OF ALL TIME ,BG

  • @firefieldmpt ditto

  • @firefieldmpt I totally agree with you, the tripe produced these days and call it music, I don't think so.

  • @firefieldmpt YES I AGREE

  • union gap dressed in confederte grey

  • I grew up to the sound of this track, the fantastic naive underinformed 60,s.When I was 14 most of the similar age girls would compete for older lads and this record echoes this.Even a bum fluff moustache wouldnt guarantee a sweaty date at the Odean

  • Wow for the longest time I thought Gary

Puckett was black wow what a voice :)

  • ALWAYS

  • This song is creepy. I mean he says, "young girl get outta my mind, my love for you is waaay outta line...your MUCH TOO YOUNG girl" Is he dating a 9 yr old or something?

  • @windsorbays Get a grip its not about a child listen to it!! Its a young under aged teenager ie 15yrs making hreself look older yeh!!

  • @friday1808 still dont make it right. You could be put on the register for frolicking with someone under the age of conscent! no difference in my opinion.

  • @windsorbays 16 was considered acceptable not long ago in this country (hence the term "good old days"), and still is pretty much everywhere else in the world.

  • Great song, reminds me of my first love. Every time I hear this song I think of Vicki!

  • I saw him in concert @ The Tarrytown Music Hall in NY a few years ago...awesome show...hard to believe he is 70 now!!!!

  • So many times I have asked myself whom I wished most that I could sing like, and this guy comes out on top every time. There isn't another singer on the planet that even sounds like him a little. Something about his voice makes me want to simultaneously smile and weep. Regardless of genre, Gary Puckett shares the rarest tier of talent with the likes of Roy Orbison, Marty Robbins, and Johnny Mathis.

  • @LaroldC Gary Puckett was one of the only front men back then in pop music that had a classically trained voice,he studied and trained for years with a top vocal coach. In that era of the 60's for pop bands that was very unusual. The man could sing anything. When you were wishing who you can sound like....good choice, you have good taste.

  • super song bring back the 60s so many memories

  • Great song,With music and "talent"as bad as it is now it's no wonder that we are turning to the past for great music!

  • My music....my generation. I'm an old fart now....one foot already in the grave. I wish I could go back to those wonderful times just once more before I die.

  • Last saw Gary abd TUG ib 1996 at a free concertat Govt. Center in Boston , Mass .

His voice was still impecable !

  • brill song...always listenable...however it should be the Union Gap featuring Gary Pucket.

    im sure im correct.

  • Just love this song it always sounds so fresh and what an era the 60's were with the best music ever

  • another bad year in my life but this song was fuckin GREAT, it took the sting out of the tail .

  • IF NOT... the best romantic song of all times... gets near that !

This song... did enlight many lives, many people, many hearts !

    They were really great !

And yes... music like this... is no more !

  • I love these guys, Still do. Thanks.

  • brilliant so many memories thank u 4 upload

  • Grandma Mary, get out of my life!

  • Fuck this was number one when i was born.

  • Boy does this bring back memories. Summer, 1968. Life in Miami as a kid. Great place and time to be alive!

  • Es de las mejores canciones que yo escuche por esa epoca con mis amigos en El Salvador. Gracias por bajar esta musica, sin duda es maravillosa.

  • Too bad he didn't go on to make soem extreme heavy metal like Dio did.

  • This Girl Is A Woman Now and this song are are creepy songs. Anthems for pedophiles. Was there any underage groupie groping going on with GP and the Union Gap? Those quasi military uniforms were bizarre. Each of the close ups makes the band look kind of pervy.

  • @XamIIamX These songs were from a different time... From my growing up years, and well you would have to have grown up then to understand that these songs were a long way from the ideas we have today about pedophilia or other sick goings on

  • @TheGabbydeb I was in the eighth grade when this song was released. When the subject was discussed among my classmates, The general consensus was that this songs lyrics were creepy and these guys looked weird. Pedophilia has been around since the ancient Greeks. Those guys invented the word. They probably sang a few songs about the activity as well.

  • @TheGabbydeb xamllamx is a moron a busybody

  • great singer, best voice, super sing

  • Interesting...Gary Puckett was born in the same town as Bob Dylan! And only about a year apart!

  • A group that was PR'd out of existence. They kept having to keep producing retreads of their previous hits. A curse. Without doing this they may have never been as popular as they ended up, but this also ended up killing them.

  • Thanks for post this!

  • He was a great singer and looks amazingly like Joe Montana with longer hair.

  • The first time i heard this song i was 13 years old. I had a vynil disc. I lost it. Now thanks to Youtube I found this rarety. Really I´m very glad for this.

  • hey dumb ass listen again.sick shit

  • Hey dumbasses. Listen to the lyrics carefully. Its about a pedofile and a young girl. EWW. It hurts to know the truth.

  • Dang! and I can't even play the tambourine!

  • i was just a kid then but this song is still unforgettable till today.

  • I used to imagine that Dean Martin (don't ask) was singing this to me when I was a teenager,,,yes, I was a sad mess :) with a great imagination....

  • @lightening16

I did too! God, what a man!! I'm 56 and I still dream about him, at least we can see him on Ytube.

  • @babylove410 I never thought that anyone else could have had that same dream! Too funny....btw..I'm 53 so when you were too old, he could have "dated" me!

  • @lightening16 I would have dated him when I was 18, he was so ahhhhh! I was lucky to be kissed by Frank Sinatra when I was 28, I should have asked him if he could put in a good word for me to Dean.

  • @babylove410 - are you serious? u got kissed by the MAN himself, Frank Sinatra?? OMG!! bet u haven't washed ur cheeks since then, huh?? lol Congrats & Happy New Year!= 2 U!!

  • @dinan545bmw Yes I'm serious.I went to a function he was at(unknown to us). There were about 30 tables of 8 people and he went around and chose 2 couples that he would get photographed with.He chose my boyfriend and I and as soon as the photo was taken, I stood up and asked him if I could have a kiss, he said "why not" and smack, right on the lips. I was 29 and he was 68. From 10 feet away you could see those cobalt blue eyes. I didn't kiss my bf or brush my teeth for a week.I have the photos!!

  • @babylove410 - wow! what a tremendous story here and thanks for sharing also! that must have truly been one of your (anyone for that matter) greatest and most memorable moments in life thus far. and what gall on your part to even ask him for a kiss no less. ha ha. I'm sure you're bf must have been very impressed and moved by that very poignant and special moment at the time. Truly once in a million. Frank happens to be amongst my most favorite crooners of ALL TIME. BEST REGARDS

  • @dinan545bmw I'll never forget that as long as I live. People don't believe me until they see the photos. I thought, this is my only chance in life to get a kiss from him,so I had to go for it! I wasn't one of those loud obnoxious fans who would scare him off, I asked him very quietly, because lets face it,who wouldn't want a kiss from him. Best regards to you! Poor Gary Puckett, we forgot all about him!!

  • @babylove410 And the boyfriend? VBG

  • @Factnotfictionpeople History!!

  • I used to have this music on 45's

  • Thank you, Dad, for sharing this kind of music with me when I was growing up and giving me the gift of an awesome music collection. RIP Dad.

  • i too grew up with this type of music i am for ever grateful thank you xxxxx

  • As others have noted, Gary Puckett could really sing. I'm surprised he didn't have a bigger solo career after this group disbanded.

  • I MISS U DEBBIE L JUST ME BRUCE

  • Gary Puckett was the first concert I seen. It was in Flint Michigan a very very long time ago..This guy could sing like no ones business. Seen them with Spanky and our gang

  • I could just picture Chris Hanson walking on the set and telling gary to have a seat.

  • always loved this tune . It brings me back to my teenage years... good memories..

  • amazing, reminds me when i was a little girl,my father used to sing it,thank god for youtube and people who upload these forgotten tunes.

  • Excellent. I saw him live at an outdoor concert in Reno... around 1997-98, something like that. He didn't draw much of a crowd until he started singing, and then I was almost smashed flat against the barriers. He still looks great, and he sings beautifully. He stayed after the concert to sign autographs.

  • I have just gone back quite a few years.... bring it on....

  • When I was 4 years old, my uncle plays this song and I liked. Today I have 42 years old. Beautiful song.

  • Also, no one could copy Gary Puckett's voice. He was so recognizable because of that voice, there is not a song of his that anyone else could sing, and have it come out as beautiful as his voice did. He had one of those "One of a kind voices". I could listen to him all day.

  • It's such a realistic situation Gary is singing about. Teenaged young girls wanting to put on a little more lipstick and mascara, and wear the short dresses to see of they could get a guy they like's attention. And it works, but she doesn't actually know what she's getting in to. Or does she? And the guy does love her, but finds out her true young age & tries to stop them.. Garys voice is better than ever in this particular song, and you can feel the frustration Still happens today.

  • IN 1969 I WAS JUST 7 YEARS OLD

  • I'm 54. I grew up hearing this and a myriad of amazing songs

from the 1960's! It was an incredible era for music!

  • I never dreamed he was from Minn,,I am 62 and I am from Minn , YES I was from his era!!!!!!!!!!

  • Gary Fukit & The Young Gap Union Girl.

  • @FastPonyGT careful horseponyboy, your intelligence is showing ( you're IQ to)

  • It's not necessarily about paedophilia or even accidental paedophilia. It's just about a relationship between an older man and a woman who is much younger than he, say a 30 year old and say, a 16 year old, still above the age of consent, but still a 'baby' by comparison. Why the dirty minds?

  • It's about accidental paedophilia.

  • My older brother used to sing this son to get girls, he was a young boy at 7

  • best voice ,,,moody blues too love them

  • Fantastic! Nothing today comes close! Thanks for the video!

  • you know you people are crazy, this man is fantastic , benny you a wacko this man is a true talent we didnt worry you dont know real talent maybe you should go listen to more taylor swift or lmfao , or rap GROWdoigyisabenny

  • Amazing!

  • I love every song Gary Puckett sang! He has an awsome voice!

  • Bill Clinton's song

  • I love every song that Gary Puckett and the Union Gap did. They were a super group and Gary Puckett's voice was something I don't even have words to explain.

    He was handsome, too!

  • I had no idea they were performing in the early 40's,i always thought they were 60's.Way before their time.:)Sorry i read it wrong,he was born in 1942.

  • I had no idea they were performing in the early 40's,i always thought they were 60's.Way before their time.:)

  • great voice

  • Great song but these days if you think about it it's a song about pedophilia "with all the charms of a woman, you're just a baby in disguise, young girls get out of my mind" Not cool but anyway it's a catchy tune and I have it in my ipod.

  • wow ! from 1:06 thru 1:08 you hear his voice singing, yet his microphone is near his knees, very nice

  • @Velvet4U Thats the sign of a top quality mic. ;)

  • If you ever saw this group live... besides the great vocal, Gary Puckett was one hell of a guitar player...

  • Thank you for posting, I grew listening to this song and his others. He is indeed a great singer. i too can relate to this song, I had crushes on my male teachers in High School and have always had crushes on older men growing up( not old men, but older men lol) Nice song !!

  • CLASSIC GROUP AND VERY COOL SONGS

  • wow.....I was what 16 years old and ready for love.

  • Beautiful....

  • Paul Wheatbread previously played drums with The Hard Times.

  • @Doigyisabenny young girl get out of my mind, my love for you is making me a pedophile... you better run girl... XD

  • @Doigyisabenny

Who cares a fuck...The whole W.W.W is full with perverts, assholes and fenderbenders and making remarks about them does not make them leave anyway.Just enjoy the song and let go the simple fact that other idiots might listen to it also.

  • @hasjtrackers lol...

  • @Doigyisabenny haha rofled at your comment :D guess one could interpret it that way :P

  • Comment removed

  • @17865329 Mmmmm... no. Dude - take half your age and add 7, thats the formulae for acceptable. If you're worried because - and I quote - her "mama wonders where she is", then you've got yourself a problem. But hey, don't mind me! I'm just a troll providing the amusing commentary. But just to be safe though, stay the hell away from my kids, PUCKETT!!

  • @Doigyisabenny Ah well ...Dude...so under your formula, who knows where you got it from, a 30 year old could

never be involved with a 20 year old? Good luck with that. You better tell Hugh Hefner your formula, however

he long ago morphed from hip to pathetic.

  • @Doigyisabenny Ok,rather than silly ping pong, let's go with the actual facts about the song. You're more right than wrong, it is about young musicians on the road, being "tempted" by groupies, mid-teens or so,appearing older.

However, it's not even written by Gary Puckett, it's written by a guy named Jerry Fuller, he says the song represents him at 20, encountering this on the road, and going out of his way not to give in to it. The "young girl" is a figurative amalgamation, non-specific.

  • @Doigyisabenny What can i say ...to you MORON it a song..

Like 17865329 says you dont know anything..LOL

Where do you morons came from !!!

  • @ruh1000 ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US!!

  • @Doigyisabenny BELONG TO WHO ?????

  • His voice is perfect for this song.

  • 0.0 i though it was a middle age guy singing this song rather than a much younger guy...Love his voice :)

  • omg i love his voice

  • Great video. I too have also this song forever. I had there album and played it till it is all scratched up. This is a treet for me. Thanks for the memories Happydukk

  • aint there a more modern version of this?

  • I love this song!! Thanks!!

  • do you think if chris hanson from dateline NBC heard this song he would go looking for this guy?

  • Gary and the Gap hit #2 in Billboard, 4-6-68. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a great week!

  • ...of course the guitars are not plugged in...the drummer is off , the piano player stopped playing, and the trumpets are where? I remember actually seeing these shows and believing they where live. Not sure why they did so much lip-sinking back then.........but a great singer is a great singer. All the more reason to see them live!

  • @jesus78396

Isn't this the album version dubbed over a live performance. I think they were actually playing here. It just sounded different.

  • Sweet!.....I owe my mom so much for the music I heard back then.....Thx 4 posting!
