  • Thanks alot for posting this! I did this on my Strat and it works great! I made the mistake of using a switch instead of a button, tip to others: use a button, it's alot less noisy. Still works well though.

  • can you do the same thing to a strat? i would love to have one of these on my strat.

  • ..........so, you put a cutoff switch for your cutoff switch?

  • YOU HAVE A DIGITECH XP 300 SPACE STATION! JEALOUS!!!

  • @leonkennedy74 And a XP 100 Whammy Wah! Ugh, I am literally green with envy.

  • I've never really understood the point of cut-off switches. Wouldn't it be better in pedal form? That way you cna pick at the same time and you don't risk fucking your guitar up.

  • isnt that called the killswitch?

  • You have one big ass pedal board :p

  • put on some fuzz.... activates 20 pedals

  • where can i purchase that particular switch and what lind is it? i have a fender jag hh special and i'm about to mod it.

  • Not cut off switch but KILLSWITCH or TOGGLESWITCH

  • Not to be Johny rain cloud over here but um.,yeah its called a killswitch...so yeah..just saying..cause i kinda have one as well :/..

  • What is the yellow pedal we can see behind you ? It has the same shape as the whammy digitech one.

  • lol SOME effects....

  • Cool story bro, would the modification be essentially the same with a switch instead of a button?

  • hello, i wanna know wich cables u cut only for de switch. and wich u use

  • that's sort of a cool trick but it's kind of redundant on that guitar. All you have to do for that cutoff effect is use only one pickup and turn it on and off since you can turn each pickup on and off. and by using the other switch on top you're defeating the rhythm circuit so you're kind of taking away from some of the cool features on the guitar.

  • What if the bypass for the cut-off switch fails... I don't really see the point of this bypass, unless you accidentally push the switch when you're playing.

  • DaanJM.... then i'm totally F'd.

  • Danndi920... left field eh? I'll go there too... fuck old brake pads... what am I supposed to do with those anyways?

  • you should post a vid showing off your pedalboard

  • brokenwingsarefallin... I might do... I don't like to 'show off' that much... but if i can think of a way to introduce it, I will. :)

  • love ur vidz..

i got a shecter gryphon and took out the neck pickup, so now i have a little ghetto killswitch when i switch from tone to treble.(well there still is a faint signal but barely noticeable)

gotta say i like the idea of a switch rather than a button

    5*

  • You forgot the pickup selector bypass switch in case the pickup selector don't work anymore :-)

Nice video and impressive pedal board!

  • Hi, I have a Japanesse Fender Jaguar and as I see, you know about this kind of guitar, I was wondering to ask you some questions: my guitar has a serious problem of coupling. Do you know what can I do to solve this problem? The pick ups are Seymour Dunkan and the problem continues...

Thanks for your answer with a yes or a no.

  • HOLY SHIT!!!

    how many freakin pedals man!!!!

  • its called a killswitch not a cuttoff switch...

  • You're the gourmet around here zaczombie666.

  • good video.. and I love your guitar!!

I have a question about the cutoff switch:

when you're pressing it (opening the circuit), you're not having any noise? how is that possible?

    thanks!

  • It is noisy... but I havent really addressed that. At the moment I only use it for noisy bits. But if I want to try something more melodic, I will have to repair it. I think you can add a capacitor to the circuit and that will clean it up. Or so I hear. If I do it, I will post a vid about it. Good call.

  • Awesome! Great Idea! I'm lovin your videos!

  • THAT GUITAR SOUNDS GREAT!!

  • btw how u tune electric guitar as the sound is diif each time??? plz some1 telll me :P...

  • plz tell me ya takin the piss the same as acoustic guitars the diff sounds are from the amp or effect pedays or tone knobs on the guitar lol

  • Man, you though a Jag needed MORE switches?! LOL cool guitar.

  • If i were to have a store install a cuttoff swittch how much do you think it would cost, Oh yeah how much did the button, and wires cost for it?

  • why don't you run one of the circuits (lead or rythm) with zero volume? and there you have, a killswitch right there...

  • yea i just bought myself a flying v so i could do that hahaha

  • nunopumpkin... I gutted that wiring system and added my own... i think i talk about it in the first and fourth video. But yea... youre right.

  • can u instal a killswitch thingy on a strat?

  • Sure. Just check out the basic wiring diagram i put up...same deal.

  • cool thanks =]

  • why not use a pedal to kill the signal? it's more practical and you don't need to mod the strat...

  • doesnt the Jag come with that switch on the top anyways?

  • GrowTheCaine...it comes with one switch...but its a circuit selector...from the "lead" circuit to the "rhythm" circuit.

  • i know that i own a jaguar but u said u put in the switch the jaguar allready comes with i just dont understand why your saying u put something allready there i guess what i dont understand is what u did with the top panel switch?

  • What Other Boss pedals are you using?

  • Noirie93....boss pedals...Delay (DD-2, DD-3)...Tremolo/Pan (PN-2)...Phase Shifter (PH-3)...Dimension-C (DC-2)...Equalizer (GE-7)...Power supply/switch (PSM-5)...Thats all the the Boss pedals I'm using currently.

  • nice man

  • its creative, and i love buckethead. but ill stick without the killswitch

  • Nice video series, Luke. Can you email me the wiring diagram and parts list?

    Thanks!

  • Once i find them yes! My old computer crashed...on a new one...so once i find it.

  • hey, whats the model of the black les paul hanging on the wall

  • Its the Epiphone Les Paul Custom. Actually really nice. Much nicer than the Epiphone Les Paul standards.

  • yeah i new it looked familiar

  • Its a PH-3, and a PN-2 (Tremelo Pan)

  • very, very, very fucking cool man. great job! and great set there. gonna ask you to be friends on here :)

  • Werd to your mother dude. Thank you! and welcome!

  • can this be done on any type of guitar?

  • Sure. Just follow the diagram.

  • cool

  • Great videos man!

  • that sounds like my maa having a crap

  • thinking of installing a kill switch to my mustang can you share the name/brand or even a website of the button you use since its black and it would match my pickguard?

    thanks

  • Check out radio shack. Just ask the rep where the 'momentary' switches are. There are a few different kinds.

  • Hey, are you using a guitar case for your pedals? I mean it looks big but I may be wrong. Nice pedals also!

  • Its actually a keyboard case. :) Well, ONE of them is. I'll be making a new video in the next few weeks. Maybe i'll show them off. Thanks man.

  • That is really nifty. I can't wait to see a new video!

  • Has anyone told you that you look just like David Cross with a beard?

  • I AM david cross.

  • Where do you get a cutoff switch? I've checked MusiciansFriend & Guitar Center, also google & couldn't find one.

  • Look for a killswitch that might help

  • cutoff switch = noise. may be fun to play with but in a song? no

  • listen to tom morello or buckethead then.

  • I had a cutoff switch put in my old Squire so I could play a bunch of Rage Against the Machine songs. Some of the stuff Tom Morello does is insane.

  • granted, cut off switches are cool (as evident in Van Halen's version of "You really Got Me Now"), but it sounds like you need to spend less time buying/mod-ing and more time learning/playing. You're obviosly quite young and doing your thing, but I'm seeing a very non-musical pattern and direction in your videos.

  • Man, this guy is a douche. Can i get an amen?

  • amen

  • AMEN!!

  • That tech lesson has tons of entertainment value...What did you edit that video in?

Do you play in a band?

  • dude...how much money have you spent total?(guitars and pedals)?

  • Exactly 1 Million dollars. Or, close to. THanks for watching.

  • Cool!

  • Hi, I see on the top that your Jag has 3 switches instead of 1 switch and the 2 wheels. Did you replace them and if so why? Thanks.

  • Yes! They are switches...they are phasers for the pickups. Just some extra range from the pickups. Maybe in the next vid i'll show you what they do.

  • Show how to wire phasers!

  • another piece of info: Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead installed a cut-off switch on his famous early 90s telecaster plus.

  • u changed the pickups??? mi cijs suck when distorted

  • You know, I havent yet, but I will be. But CLEAN...I was actually really happy with them when I picked up some new 250k tone and volume pots. And easy swap if your interested. And only $10 - $15.

  • thank u i sooo reely needed this

  • that gibson in the back there...is it the same black beuty with gold inlays that James Iha was known to play? Also Can I get a jaguar for less than $300? finally I also like paul reed smith and mac systems and software. Wat about your mom?

  • Yep. Sock it to me. Juggle the ice cube machine to the left. Stick out your arm in traffic, and say "I feel like a natural woman". I think I've answered your prayers. Amen. PS...watt aboot YUR mom?

  • i think jaguars have enough switches and stuff by default, it's supposed to be a guitar, not a computer

  • Thats true.

  • aaah, but switches are soo cool! analog is better than digital btw.

  • ...so don't buy a jaguar

  • Thats a crap-load of effects in the back!!!

  • cool idea, but you actually can also do that with a stock jag, all you have to do is turn down the volume to 0 on the upper chromeplate and use the switch as the cut off switch...

but yours is a button right, thats a bit easier to use... I'm not sure, but i think you changed the roller knobs to switches, what do they do?

  • Yea...I need to make another video...but I've added 2 more sliders where the rollers knobs used to be...they are now phasers. I need to get back on making vids! Thanks for watching tho!

  • yeah, and are they jag or mustang? i want to put a mustang switch in there as a 3-way pickup selector

  • Pickups? They are Jaguars.

  • no, the switches in the roller spots

  • Jag also. Just more!

  • You know that if you have the cutoff bypass hooked up to the cutoff directly, the bypass will do nothing when its shorting out, because it has to go through the cutoff switch.

  • is that a space station i see there? luckky bastard

  • Yes! The space station can be a lot of fun. Some bizarre noises...I just wish it had some more controls.

  • dude youve got a pedal suitcase!

  • hey,I noticed you were really into modding your jaguar,so do you know where I can get a gibson style toggle switch for my jaguar, its like a Jazzmaster pickup selector,to replace the 2 pickup selectors, and leaves the (bass circuit)first switch, any idea where I can find one,or what its called even?its a kurt cobain mod,if you know anything about him.

  • Search for "Gibson toggle switch"...there are a number of places out there to find these sort of things. Gibson brand, or off brand. Once you have one, its just a matter of finding a wiring diagram...I'm sure there are some Kurt fans out there who will share. I dont have it tho. You could always ask a knowledgeable tech too...if they understand your idea, they can tell you how to make it happen! Let me know if I even answered your question.

  • Thanks alot man,I'll try that, the switch shouldnt be too hard to find, now I'll just have to find the plate...

  • The plate might have been custom made...but I havent seen any real detailed photos of it...it could just be the stock plate with that toggle where the slider normally goes...and a washer to hold it in. Should work.

Actually...just saw a pic of it...it is definitely custom made...but you could still make it work with the stock one...you may just have an open hole in the middle...and you will probably have to drill the hole bigger to make the switch fit. You can always buy a replacement!

  • thanks for the help, and yeah thats what I thought,I cant find a normal one,so I'll probably have to just cut out the spot between the last two switches and get a large washer to put on it.Yeah, repro plates are pretty easy to come by.

  • Just go to guitar center

  • funny video. good job.

  • WHAT THE !@#$%^&*()

  • sick
