Kornzxc, you are what you claim others to be. Lincoln's Republican party died iwth Lincoln. As soon as Grant became president the Lincoln legacy was lost to the Republicans.
Lincoln's definition of conservative was keeping the country together. Republicans from then on have manipulate that definition for their own purpose. Many purposes that go against things Lincoln stood for.
Lincoln abolished slavery in order to undercut the slave based agricultural economy of the southern states, and to satisfy the abolitionist wing of his party. Once the civil war began in full force, the point became mute. His personal views on blacks were as vehemently racist as any of his time.
Lincoln did not abolish slavery. Congress had already done that. He issued the Emancipation Proclamation to pursuade Britain to remain out of the Civil War - a masterful, effective political move.
And while Lincoln did start out pretty racist (though not "vehemently" and much more moderate than the majority of Southerners), he did soften his views over time.
As for the war of two economies, let's remember folks - the South started it!

Lately the comments under Turks videos get so far off subject I forget what the damn video was about. O well It's a free country write wutever U want.
You also forgot to mention that his middle name is Hussein, which automatically means he's related to Saddam Hussein even though Hussein is a common Arabic name. Oh and you should mention he's an Arab since he has an Arabic name even though his father is from Kenya, and his mother is white. Oh and you should mention that he's Muslim even though he's really a christian, but it doesn't make a difference because god doesn't exist. ^^
Why do these idiots come to left leaning video's and wonder why there's positive comments about Obama, must be used to the Fox news version of democrat's.
ok i borderline hate obama but if you think hes butt buddies with ayers htna you need ot turn bill o reilly off
they served on some fucking education committee over a decade ago that met twice a year for half a day, and ayers lived in the same neighborhood as obama
the last time they had so much as spoken to each other was almost 2 years before obama got elected
find another reason to hate obama you fucktwat, theres plenty of GOOD reasons to do so
he IS friends with obama, i don't think that they're gay lovers (even though obama loves his fags) and i HATE every single thing about obama, i just happened to point out that one of his friends happens to be a terrorist who supported his campaign for senate.
besides bill ayers did his time and he did do some fucked up things, he doesnt deserved the same label as people like osama bin laden
neither him nor his group The Weathermen ever killed anybody, whether this was due to their personal goals or ineptitude who knows, but, theyre not terrorists, at least not like the ones that are running amok today
i know that they're not close, but just knowing he supported by any terrorist should send out a horrible message to Americans.
and yes, he did do his time, but that doesn't make him sorry for what he did (which he isn't). it doesn't matter whether he killed anybody or not, he intended to, but was unsuccessful. i agree he doesn't deserve an "America's Most Wanted" label like bin laden, but he is fully deserving of the "terrorist" label. after all, he earned it!
not when he said in 2008 that he "didn't bomb enough shit" or in 2004 saying "I think what we did was to respond to a situation that was unconscionable." (referring to his terrorist attacks)
once again turn off bill o reilly lol i read the ranscript to the interview he said that he regretted not doing more for the cause, and in a later interview said that what he meant by not doing more didnt mean more bombing but by not doing enough actually productive things other than bombing
and honestly the debate isn't about whether he is sorry for his actions (even though he isn't), it's about obama being a friend of ayers. you finding him repentant and me finding him unrepentant (because he's not) doesn't change the fact that he was a terrorist and was a supporter of obama.
i don't give a shit whether he's sorry for his actions of terrorism or not! what matters to me is that he, a TERRORIST, voted for obama. it shows that obama is backed by a man who participated in the bombings of New York City Police Headquarters in 1970, of the Capitol building in 1971, and the Pentagon in 1972!
those "many" people are morons because by definition a terrorist is somebody who uses terrorism in the pursuit of political aims. his political aim had to do with vietnam
so your saying, by not killing anyone and only causing damage to property in opposition to a government that started a war that shouldnt have been fought and did questionably unconstitutional actions, hes a terrorist and anyone whom hes associated with should be discredited, despite the fact that he is remorseful and has served his punishment willingly?
i sincerely hope your in elementary school, or your just an idiot
it doesn't matter if he killed anybody or not. his intention was to and the property that he damaged wasn't his so he had no friggin right to do so. and it doesn't matter if he disagreed with the war or not, are we going to go blow shit up whenever we disagree with what the governments doing? i disapprove of the stimulus package so that gives me the right to go blow up the capitol building! and again, he isn't remorseful and he really had no choice but to serve his punishment. (continued)
not in all cases, in this particular case, yes, it is an act of terrorism. i suppose you found the german invasion of poland justifiable also, or the japanese attack on pearl harbor.
you're obviously the elementary school terrorist because an act of terrorism is defined as "the use of violence AND intimidation in pursuit of political aims."
and yes, obama should be discredited for being backed by a TERRORIST! i mean, what would the public's reaction have benn if we found out that mccain was backed by a group of felons who did horrible, horrible things. would they just let it roll off the shoulder? HELL NO! i would even question that!
first off, jack off, i'm pretty sure it's gordon LIDDY. and according to you, you should no longer hold such a negative title if you willingly served your time, which he did. and liddy never went through with any plans of nazism or shooting anybody in the head.
and if you'd like to go that far, Robert Byrd, another Obama supporter, was a Klansmen (ironic isn't it?)! and what do ya know?! it's another group of terrorists! he was elected the Exalted Cyclops!
democrat, Republicans.......Same types of people. Alot of people are stupid enough to think they are any different....... TYT is a waste of time. Hope he gets a brain and reports things that matter.
Anyway, LMAO @ the GOP playing the race card thinking they can get black people to vote for neocons (Michael Steele is a neocon asswipe) simply because he's black. If black people voted for candidates simply because they're black then Carol Mosley Braun, Alan Keyes, L. Douglas Wilder, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Sr., Shirley Chisholm, Leonora Fulani or Frederick Douglass (the first African-American to run for president, look it up) would have won a long time ago.
Jesse Jackson was an idiot, he also garnered nearly every black vote in the primary and won 30 percent of primary voters in his bid for the presidency.
How do you spell Unka Tom and HOUSE NUCCA. I'm black and I can tell you that Michael Steele is whiter than all you crakkka's. Yall picked the right coon dog.
BTW, he ran for Senator not Governor against a rather boring Jewish guy...His campaign was at best all style with no substance.
90 % of evangelicals vote republican..I just named a voting bloc
To your first point the extreme of conservativism is facism - like the extreme of liberalism is communism...that why Republican throw around marxism when describing liberals and WE throw back nazism or facism when describing YOU
Thank you for correcting my error. I must have been thinking of Lynn Swann's failed bid for Governor of Pennsylvania. Steele's "campaign was at best all style with no substance."--->Funny you should say that because...well I think you know where I am going. Only this time that strategy proved to be a winner for Obama.
I agree. But it's to little, to late. The biggest mistake the GOP made was screwing over the only man that stood a chance against Barak Obama and that was Colin Powell. The only black Republican that black people respect and the most celebrated member of Bush's cabinet before he got the shaft for Bush's second term. This appointment of Steele has more to do with appealing to a certain demographic and to broaden their image rather than pushing their agenda. It's all about winning baby!
"they have to trick blacks to think republicans are democrats becasue they blindly vote democrat"
Black people don't vote Republican because the Republicans haven't done anything for black people for decades. African-Americans largely went Democrat in the 40s with FDR and then more so with LBJ. Ike Eisenhower was the last Republican who gave a damn about black Americans.
Working-class and middle-class black people are smart enough to figure out the Republicans are a party for rich people.
"Do something for blacks specifically? Lol that would be dumb, policy is not crafted on the basis of race"
If you think that you're a sad man or you're completely out of touch with reality. There are all sorts of policies still in place that racially discriminate. For instance: largely white suburban schools receive more funding than largely black urban schools.
"Jesse Jackson was an idiot"
He's smarter than George Bush. Not to mention his 84' and 88' platforms were actually very progressive.
"That is not federal funding. That is local people paying taxes"
Federal, state, still amounts to the same ending. Suburban schools (which are largely white) receive more funding than urban schools (which are largely black and Latino).
"Jesse jackson wanted to reintroduce Roosevelt style farming programs and WPA type stuff."
What's wrong with that? That's the kind of stuff that built the American middle class. Better than Dukakkis' namby pamby plan.
If government builds middle class then why not have a ton of government? Would you say Cuba has a vibrant middle class? Also, currently middle class people don't get transfers of wealth and we have a large but shrinking middle class today as many move into the upper classes.
hahaahah u r the ones always talking about color. maybe u shuld let the color thing go and we really can all be equal. if u keep talking about it obviously u see a difference in people that r a different color
Now you will all see the democratic party and the liberal media and hollywood show their true colors. Mr. Steele is going to be called everything from unckle tom to house negro and when an appology is "demanded" noone will see it because it will be on the back page of the sports page. All of the racism that the republican party have been accused of exhibiting all these years will look pale in comparison but the democrats will say that their racism is just because they care about the people.
Oh and Steele IS farther right. He's the same as Sarah Palin minus some of the religious talk. Oh from what I understand those African-Americans he claimed supported him never did. Steele also made the claim that at an event people threw oreo's at him and it NEVER happened and he never apologized etc. How disgusting he did that at the club. I never knew that. That still exists today? Wow. And he's a moderate? Damn.
Steele was chosen to appeal to blacks, hispanics and maybe gays in the cynical way Palin was chosen by McCain when he ass out of you and me (assumed!) that he would syphon off the Hillary female voters when she lost in the primary to Barack! How'd that turn out? LOL!
It's so glaringly obvious to intelligent people that pay attention!
They used to tolerate Colin Powel, but it turns out Power was a field Negro.
He got carried away and made comment about the real American and the fake American.
Soon enough he got the wrath of people like Limbaugh and Hannity.
Another Negro tolerate is Condoleezza Rize, but she have already tow count fop dihorbide3nc to the white man, the firs when she say she was proud the Obama god elected,
The second Biden is obviously a very fine statesman, and a true, true patriot.
ruins you are correct this is a republican tactic used before watch the movie people "american blackout" where they used this same tactic against a democratic woman Cynthia McKinney who actualy WAS helping her community and asked the right questions.
In other words, if the GOP still believed they could win elections with a 100% white party, they would still be a 100% white party, it's well known that the republicans are the party of racists and nationalists.. they're using this black chairman as their 'house negro' appointed to try and make them look more diverse and appealing to minorities.. but the policies remain the same, the GOP only holds the interests of the rich at heart. Never vote republican!
They only appointed him in response to Obama's popularity and a realization that they need to try and trick blacks/hispanics into voting for them to win future elections. Exactly the same way they picked Sarah Palin to try and steal away on Hilary's supporters. They're hoping some blacks and other minorities will see a black guy as head of the GOP and be tricked into thinking they have their interests at heart.. which couldn't be further from the truth. This is disingenuous and insulting.
so youre saying that Steele's stupid? I thought he was chosen cause hes a good, smart guy. But according to you Repubs just chose a random black guy cause hes black.... Thats extremely insulting.
Oops! Funny! I had not yet read your comments and basically wrote the same comparison things to appealing to blacks and Hispanics and trying to mooch off the Hillary votes with Palin when she lost her primary! We must both be spot on!
Good thing Steele's rival that belonged to the ALL WHITE COUNTRY CLUB, didn't win. I don't trust black Republicans, what are they thinking, or is it that they really really wish they were white?
Democrats are funny, it's like elect a black man and that's the right thing. Why can't you just elect a great man or a smart man. Dems use racial bs more than anyone.
Obama is a smart man. McCain was a stupid man. I'd say America made the right choice. Then again, everyone who voted for Obama just because he's black are just as stupid as those who voted against him because he's black.
im black and you are 100 percent correct.....i read mcain and obamas wikipedia...id hope everyone else go out and do the same....Obamas resume is 50000 more qualified to run the company i call my united states of america.
"#5" 's funny. He's only allowed in the white-only club when he's raising money for them and then his smiley ass has to leave afterwards. What an uncle tom.
That's so funny that Steele mentions 1994 when during the 2002-2006 they raised the debt ceiling several times and Bush didn't vetoe a single spending bill. Pro-pork all the way whenever they have control and then slash and burn when Democrats are in power. Same old poltics even during the worst recession since the Great Depression.... Worst political party in US history.
So, Steele was on Fox News this morning (SHOCK! SURPRISE!) and basically said there's nothing wrong with the Republican party in its current form. Specifically mentioning that their 1994 ideas (I kid you not) are still what people want. It's amazing that we actually have a political party that takes pride in their ideas being no different from what they were over 10 years ago.
sometimes they say "african american"...sometimes "black" - what is correct now a days?
sometimes when I say "african american" in public I get a feeling like I am being way too careful...
it's like a gorilla in the room...when someone says "african american" you know most there (white and "black") are thinking about the legitimacy of "term"
Words of the Great Michael Steele
remeber the GOP also gave us UNjustice Clarence Thoms
I dont understand how they are able to legally keep blacks out of a club. How the hell can you have an all white anything in the 21st century? Seriously if anyone knows im curious.
Diversity has nothing to do with color or race. He's a NEO-CON. Diversity has to do with different ideas. Dumb Americans, always looking for simple-minded differences.
The Republicans will be back in office before too long. It'll be a game of back and forth until there's a major overhaul to the two-party system or to the way the US government functions as a whole.
In fact, once Obama fails to repair the devastated US economy by Summer, there'll be Dems wishing they'd voted Repugnican. It's just a waiting game at this point, sadly.
well, one could argue that McCain was the most moderate candidate in the primaries (you could have easily return to himself from 2000, etc) ... so Republicans are after all good at this
I'll tell you whats gonna happen. The republicans are doing the token black thing until after they get smoked again in the 2010 mid elections. Then they'll get rid of steele and pick a white woman.(only to pander of course) But check out my political Iq...The republicans know that they can't beat barack in 2012, so they'll back sarah palin as to finally eradicate her from ever being a potential candidate again. They know they can't win with her, it's all a game, but she don't know that. I do
That's actually an interesting theory. Love to see how it plays out.
And you're absolutely right that the Republicans MOSTLY chose Steele because of his race. They were dying to get behind Colin Powell... until... well... he came to his senses.
That Party doesn't care about issues or policies... they care about "characters". They are so far behind us with their ideologies I'll be IMPRESSED if they ever win the Presidency again.
Maybe if a Democrat makes a major mistake. Possible I guess.
Give me a break, there just trying to pander the black vote for 2012 and convert more black people to the Republican party. We didn't vote for Obama because he was black, we voted for him because he was the best choice. Being black didn't help Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson so don't insult our intelligence. I saw Steele on the Bill Maher show and he's just another stupid Republican who defends Bush and lies about everything, don't be fooled by the color of his skin.
Come on!! Open your eyes cenk, this is the republican party were talking about, so it's obviously "token black guy" time. These thugs don't care about people, or promote people based on merit, they just see a black president in office and want to say they have some black of there own on there side. It looks so fucken pathetic to see steele sell himself infront of all those white hate filled faggits, then to say at the beginning, "this is just awesome"..He's a fucken white boy wanna be loser.
What year is this 1960's, no 1970 something? Come on! The Republicans are thinking "Token Black" that is what this is all about. As soon as Steeles figure it out....if he ever does. He will be trying to take the next train out. Besides they want him to fight their dirty battles with the president, and steeles or what ever his name is... comes out of left field with that lame saying"How do you like me now?" He's going to eat those words!
Can't wait for Rush's "Michael The Magic Negro." The song practically writes it self. Looks like instead of the GOP dividing the country, Obama has been coaxing the GOP to divide up themselves by provoking & egging Rush on.
look at the most hardcore republicans who showed up at the mccain/palin rallies late in the campaign....these are the remaining rats left on the sinking ship that is the GOP......they will not listen to a man like steele....even though he tolerates their level of racism......the republicans should have picked a moderate "white" person to drag them back to the center....instead they elected a man far less talented than obama to represent them....by the way.....i'm black
And, as it turned out, Steele was a move in the right direction for the Democratic Party, too.
Steele is an embarrassing clown.

Why do these idiots come to left leaning video's and wonder why there's positive comments about Obama, must be used to the Fox news version of democrat's.
TheDalinkwent 3 years ago
ok i borderline hate obama but if you think hes butt buddies with ayers htna you need ot turn bill o reilly off
they served on some fucking education committee over a decade ago that met twice a year for half a day, and ayers lived in the same neighborhood as obama
the last time they had so much as spoken to each other was almost 2 years before obama got elected
find another reason to hate obama you fucktwat, theres plenty of GOOD reasons to do so
PyroAnarchist23 3 years ago
he IS friends with obama, i don't think that they're gay lovers (even though obama loves his fags) and i HATE every single thing about obama, i just happened to point out that one of his friends happens to be a terrorist who supported his campaign for senate.
bookbook6 3 years ago
obviously not close friends they rarely talk lol
besides bill ayers did his time and he did do some fucked up things, he doesnt deserved the same label as people like osama bin laden
neither him nor his group The Weathermen ever killed anybody, whether this was due to their personal goals or ineptitude who knows, but, theyre not terrorists, at least not like the ones that are running amok today
PyroAnarchist23 3 years ago
i know that they're not close, but just knowing he supported by any terrorist should send out a horrible message to Americans.
and yes, he did do his time, but that doesn't make him sorry for what he did (which he isn't). it doesn't matter whether he killed anybody or not, he intended to, but was unsuccessful. i agree he doesn't deserve an "America's Most Wanted" label like bin laden, but he is fully deserving of the "terrorist" label. after all, he earned it!
bookbook6 3 years ago
he obviously felt some sort of remorse, the man and his wife turned themselves in lol
PyroAnarchist23 3 years ago
not when he said in 2008 that he "didn't bomb enough shit" or in 2004 saying "I think what we did was to respond to a situation that was unconscionable." (referring to his terrorist attacks)
bookbook6 3 years ago
he never said "didnt bomb enough shit"
once again turn off bill o reilly lol i read the ranscript to the interview he said that he regretted not doing more for the cause, and in a later interview said that what he meant by not doing more didnt mean more bombing but by not doing enough actually productive things other than bombing
PyroAnarchist23 3 years ago
and honestly the debate isn't about whether he is sorry for his actions (even though he isn't), it's about obama being a friend of ayers. you finding him repentant and me finding him unrepentant (because he's not) doesn't change the fact that he was a terrorist and was a supporter of obama.
bookbook6 3 years ago
so what does that change? lol
besides, to many hes not a terrorist anyways
PyroAnarchist23 3 years ago
i don't give a shit whether he's sorry for his actions of terrorism or not! what matters to me is that he, a TERRORIST, voted for obama. it shows that obama is backed by a man who participated in the bombings of New York City Police Headquarters in 1970, of the Capitol building in 1971, and the Pentagon in 1972!
those "many" people are morons because by definition a terrorist is somebody who uses terrorism in the pursuit of political aims. his political aim had to do with vietnam
bookbook6 3 years ago
so your saying, by not killing anyone and only causing damage to property in opposition to a government that started a war that shouldnt have been fought and did questionably unconstitutional actions, hes a terrorist and anyone whom hes associated with should be discredited, despite the fact that he is remorseful and has served his punishment willingly?
i sincerely hope your in elementary school, or your just an idiot
PyroAnarchist23 3 years ago
it doesn't matter if he killed anybody or not. his intention was to and the property that he damaged wasn't his so he had no friggin right to do so. and it doesn't matter if he disagreed with the war or not, are we going to go blow shit up whenever we disagree with what the governments doing? i disapprove of the stimulus package so that gives me the right to go blow up the capitol building! and again, he isn't remorseful and he really had no choice but to serve his punishment. (continued)
bookbook6 3 years ago
so your saying that every act of violence in history as a form of opposition makes whoever caused it a terrorist and they were ALL wrong?
so the boston tea party was an act of terrorists?
lol
PyroAnarchist23 3 years ago
not in all cases, in this particular case, yes, it is an act of terrorism. i suppose you found the german invasion of poland justifiable also, or the japanese attack on pearl harbor.
you're obviously the elementary school terrorist because an act of terrorism is defined as "the use of violence AND intimidation in pursuit of political aims."
bookbook6 3 years ago
...what?!
lmmfao
out of what i said, how did you manage to twist that into i support the german invasion of poland?
hahahahaha
man your stupid
while the german invasion of poland wasnt justifiable, the attack on pearl harbor was
we were cutting off supplies to japan and supplying their enemies with supplies despite being "neutral"
it was a terrible day, but, we had it coming, we couldnt keep up the "neutrality" bullshit forever
PyroAnarchist23 3 years ago
I guess that makes J. Edgar Hoover a terrorist. (Though you wouldn't get any arguments from me on that one.)
EyeLean5280 2 years ago
and yes, obama should be discredited for being backed by a TERRORIST! i mean, what would the public's reaction have benn if we found out that mccain was backed by a group of felons who did horrible, horrible things. would they just let it roll off the shoulder? HELL NO! i would even question that!
bookbook6 3 years ago
if mccain was backed by felons?
you mean like Gordon Libby?
who donated thousands of dollars to mccains senate and presidential campaigns
in case you dont know who that is because your apparently so feeble minded, hes the man who orchestrated watergate
hows that for being backed by a felon? ;)
oh yeah, he was also a possible nazi supporter and he told people to shoot ATF agents in the head lol
PyroAnarchist23 3 years ago
first off, jack off, i'm pretty sure it's gordon LIDDY. and according to you, you should no longer hold such a negative title if you willingly served your time, which he did. and liddy never went through with any plans of nazism or shooting anybody in the head.
and if you'd like to go that far, Robert Byrd, another Obama supporter, was a Klansmen (ironic isn't it?)! and what do ya know?! it's another group of terrorists! he was elected the Exalted Cyclops!
bookbook6 3 years ago
you seem to have fallen under the idiotic belief that i care who supports barrack obama lol
did i not say before, i dont like obama?
dumbass
this wasnt about whether mccain or obama had more criminal friends it was about bill ayers and obamas borderline non existent relationship
PyroAnarchist23 3 years ago
Willingly serving his time does not change the fact that the man is a felon.
As for Byrd vs. Liddy, you can't have it both ways. Either you take people's pasts into account or you don't.

A86 3 years ago 3
Jesse Jackson was an idiot, he also garnered nearly every black vote in the primary and won 30 percent of primary voters in his bid for the presidency.

As to your 5 points :
1. Only Democrats are allowed to compare anything to Nazism
2. 90% of afro-americans vote Democratic. Can you name any other voting bloc with such lopsided %?
3. Steele lost Maryland governor election? Maryland must be full of racists
4. Tyson has done awful things but he's been taken advantage of too... I'll take his vote..at least he's not a sponge
5. Having discriminating taste is not necessarily wrong...are women allowed? No..does that mean they hate women?
dmdcreations 3 years ago
BTW, he ran for Senator not Governor against a rather boring Jewish guy...His campaign was at best all style with no substance.
90 % of evangelicals vote republican..I just named a voting bloc
To your first point the extreme of conservativism is facism - like the extreme of liberalism is communism...that why Republican throw around marxism when describing liberals and WE throw back nazism or facism when describing YOU
flrbase1 3 years ago
Thank you for correcting my error. I must have been thinking of Lynn Swann's failed bid for Governor of Pennsylvania. Steele's "campaign was at best all style with no substance."--->Funny you should say that because...well I think you know where I am going. Only this time that strategy proved to be a winner for Obama.
dmdcreations 3 years ago
Good point...and Reagan before him
flrbase1 3 years ago
Obama did not win because of the black vote==true
90% of evangelicals vote republican==not true (but significant)
Obama had no higher percentage than Kerry or Gore== not true (but very close)
As for the numerous "-isms", don't forget socialism which most closely resembles liberalism
Thank you for admitting Reagan had style which he later backed up substance, hopefully Obama will do the same.

A86 3 years ago 2

aweiss 3 years ago
"Do something for blacks specifically? Lol that would be dumb, policy is not crafted on the basis of race"
If you think that you're a sad man or you're completely out of touch with reality. There are all sorts of policies still in place that racially discriminate. For instance: largely white suburban schools receive more funding than largely black urban schools.
"Jesse Jackson was an idiot"
He's smarter than George Bush. Not to mention his 84' and 88' platforms were actually very progressive.
A86 3 years ago
Suburban schools receive more federal funding? No, plain no. Secondly, Jesse's platform was deranged.
aweiss 3 years ago
"Suburban schools receive more federal funding?"
Yes.

"Jesse's platform was deranged"
What about his platform was deranged? List some specific policies that were crazy.
A86 3 years ago
That is not federal funding... That is local people paying taxes, the federal government doesn't favor rich districts.
Jesse jackson wanted to reintroduce Roosevelt style farming programs and WPA type stuff.
Also glad you ask for specifics and don't make generalizations like other liberals here.:D
aweiss 3 years ago
"That is not federal funding. That is local people paying taxes"
Federal, state, still amounts to the same ending. Suburban schools (which are largely white) receive more funding than urban schools (which are largely black and Latino).
"Jesse jackson wanted to reintroduce Roosevelt style farming programs and WPA type stuff."
What's wrong with that? That's the kind of stuff that built the American middle class. Better than Dukakkis' namby pamby plan.
A86 3 years ago
If government builds middle class then why not have a ton of government? Would you say Cuba has a vibrant middle class? Also, currently middle class people don't get transfers of wealth and we have a large but shrinking middle class today as many move into the upper classes.
aweiss 3 years ago
"If government builds middle class then why not have a ton of government?"
It wasn't just the government, it was a lot of things.
"Would you say Cuba has a vibrant middle class?"
I don't know about vibrant but Cuba actually has some of the highest living standards in Latin America and some of the highest HDI factors.
"we have a large but shrinking middle class today as many move into the upper classes"
Try the other way. More "middle class" people are going the other economic direction.

There are millions and millions of black people in America, and 99.99999% of them voted for Obama, that's why Obama won.
Don't get me wrong, I voted for Obama, but if Obama was white, he wold have lost

Never vote republican!
ruin3r 3 years ago
They only appointed him in response to Obama's popularity and a realization that they need to try and trick blacks/hispanics into voting for them to win future elections. Exactly the same way they picked Sarah Palin to try and steal away on Hilary's supporters. They're hoping some blacks and other minorities will see a black guy as head of the GOP and be tricked into thinking they have their interests at heart.. which couldn't be further from the truth. This is disingenuous and insulting.

So, Steele was on Fox News this morning (SHOCK! SURPRISE!) and basically said there's nothing wrong with the Republican party in its current form.

I do
malboro1979 3 years ago 4
That's actually an interesting theory. Love to see how it plays out.
And you're absolutely right that the Republicans MOSTLY chose Steele because of his race. They were dying to get behind Colin Powell... until... well... he came to his senses.
That Party doesn't care about issues or policies... they care about "characters". They are so far behind us with their ideologies I'll be IMPRESSED if they ever win the Presidency again.
Maybe if a Democrat makes a major mistake. Possible I guess.
