  • dont know why but some of the people in this are vaguely familiar

  • @TheLinkinpark50210 We're kind of a big deal.

  • True, dont most of the big stars get mad after success?

  • wow, great job! definitely a lot better than I expected (from the thumbnail). I'm surprised at how good the acting is, and just the hole concept. what film school do you go to?

  • Incredible that still there people with this exquisit taste to make movies. The girl who plays Victoria is a great actress, I hope the back of the B&W and the 50's! Good job, dudes!

  • was this vid supposed to be stupid?cuz im confused.on a scale from 1 to 10 i personaly think that it is a 0.srry but that is just the truth. oh and on 5:39 to 6:22 was she supposed to be drunk or something?

  • wow that was a nice film for something that a few people made.

  • I think the film was very 50's, the way it was supposed to be. You have to remember that back in that time, that is how acting was.. very enthusiastic and almost a overdramatic feel to it. I really liked this.

  • Hmnn... The make up is quite fitting. Regular make up won't even show much in a black and white film. I love the color and the setting. Although you could have made the sound a bit more coarse for the movie era.

  • 3 stars. The editing is seamless and the lighting is very well done. The soundtrack is a nice match to the film, but it sounds a little cheap. Also the acting is over enthusiastic, the camera work is a bit unstable, and the script is extremely cliche.

  • I personly felt Cathy to be the least convincing, I think it was slightly over what was required. I love this little film though, a real gem.

  • 5:39 to 6:22 she is being an idiot

  • no, she just had a few too many hits from the bong

  • Great vid--"Cathy" was fantastic! Looks like she stepped out of the period and her melodramatic flourishes were spot on!

  • Heh, nice Andre bottles in the backgroung at 5:24

  • The acting was absolutely PERFECT for the period! I love it!! "Cathy" has a beautifully classic face & bone structure--she's wonderful!

  • Great film! I really liked the idea. The shots were good and thought out as well. Nice graphic matches, too. The music fit fantastically also. Great job. The acting, however, could have used a little help. Unless you were going for that melodramatic feel...but all in all, great job!

  • It was great. Your style and creativity is greatly expressed through your films. Wicked =)

  • Look at you. You're not even pretty.

  • Cathy in the lounge with the Oscar Award.

  • 4:20 Zomg...she looks like Cruella De Vil! XD Wonderful actress! She outshines everyone in the vid!

  • Wow..This was very good :)

  • i LOVE when she makes that face when she says: you take that oscar everywhere with you, why?!" i love that, XD but good vid, props, costume, hair style, house, (to match that period of time) last but not least, good story-line XDD

  • I love trans-Atlantic accents.

  • Ahahahaha that was great!

  • That was really well done. I loved the way Cathy/Megan overexaggerated her expressions a lot. The make-up was good too. And the script... Definitely five stars.

  • Wow..This was very good! :)

    Creepy too. lol

  • are you in college for filming and directing?

  • I studied a little filmmaking, but I was an illustration major and my brother was an architecture major. This is more of a hobby for me -- Garrison is interested in acting (and eventually directing) professionally.

  • nice job!! u have good acting!! we need more directors like you around!!

  • Wow, really well done. And the story, the costumes, and set went together perfectly. It looks like you really put 110% of yourself into this. Good job!!!

  • Great fun!! Really well-done. Superb lighting, costumes and camera angles. And the credits are glorious!

  • excellent acting, i wonder how you managed to capture the old-hollywood type glamour and style! it really looks like a classic 40's film.

  • I love your stuff its great - keep it up

  • magnifica la ambientacion ,el vestuario y el maquillaje

  • Great!

  • we all know stacle would've won in real life..

  • only thing missing is smoking in the movie theatre..

  • you'll get spotted by a producer someday moviemker!...and you'll have your oscar eventually lol....this'll be a bonus feature on a DVD someday ;)...keep it up!!

  • gggrrreeeaaattt!!!!

  • Loved you short film! You captured Hollywood's Golden Age well, lol.

  • she sure did. very good acting and the portrayal is good.

  • Right she got the trophy but 1 day after shes in jail :P

  • It was KATHY with the OSCAR in the LIVING ROOM!! EVERYBODY RUN!!!

  • that's exactly what i was going to say! lol

  • This video is very well done... Kathy is beautiful but I can't say much for her accent... I like all the costumes and camera angles.. Nice work.

  • aweosme vid!

  • Gr8 job! I rlly liked it!

  • good job! :P i love it

  • shadows kill me... i can never get the lighting right... and reflections got u too... but it was excellent nontheless ^_^

  • awesome video!,I need you to tell me something, was it hard to organize all of ur friends? I mean yesterday I directed something with 10 persons on it was so har to tell everyone what to do, everyone was doing what they want to, I got really upset with everyone it was a horrible day-filming...

  • probably not all actors are they?

  • "I need you to tell me something, was it hard to organize all of ur friends?"

We've known most of these people from high school so they're eager to help us out and listen to our direction...only a couple of them (Mike Setti as Richard and Garrison Rule as Lyle) are pursuing acting -- the rest just enjoy it as a hobby.

    :-]

  • Was that a picture of Joan Crawford on the fireplace mantle? Fabulous video.

  • It was originally a picture of Joan Crawford, and I photoshopped (badly) the face of Cathy over Joan's to make it look like Cathy had pictures of herself all over her house. Good eye for recognizing the photo!

  • That was very well done. :D

  • good job. Did you film in black and white or in color and then convert to b/w. How many camaras did you have set up?

  • This was amazing! I really enjoyed it!

  • all your videos have such an incredibly apt handle on moving the footage along with the audio/soundtrack.

  • Thank you! Because we don't have the means to compose our own music, a lot of times we select the pieces before shooting, which helps us find the right rhythm for the scene. Also, it takes a LOT of experimentation and editing to get it to match up.

  • that was reaaly good

  • Love it!!

  • Nice job!!!

  • haha, that was good!

  • wow I love this, haha.

the acting was good and so was the music

    <3

    good job!

  • Muy guapo, muy guapo. Felicidades.

  • REAL GOO ACTING!

  • That was incredible. WOW

  • nice vid but the statue dosent look like an oscar\ =)

  • it WAS an Oscars statue

  • omg lol tha was briliant lolz i couldnt act like that xXx <3

  • I love your work!

I am so glad I found you!

  • Amazing video. Can't wait to see more.

  • k dude i have 2 say: I am a fan of moviemker.

Talent. Pure talent. I won't be suprised to see ur name in the big bucks in the next few years. Plz make more!

  • a very good romantic comedy

  • "a very good romantic comedy"

Hehe...well, I think of it more as a noir spoof/dark comedy. But I guess the 1940s was very "romantic"...maybe Cathy secretly loved Lara?

  • excelente corto!

  • You did an excellent job..and the lead actress has talent plus her skin looked so flawless.

  • the acting is abit stale.

  • "the acting is abit stale"

Well, the actors were aged 18-22 and none of the leads went to school for acting, so considering that I think we coaxed some pretty good performances out of them.

    - director

  • Also, we were deliberately trying to replicate the acting style that you see in movies from this time period (1940s).

    -Garrison (director)

  • what's the soundtrack please?

  • "what's the soundtrack please?"

    - Vocal music by Vera Lynn ("Blowing Bubbles" as the theme and "Always" was the dinner music) and Dinah Shore ("The Best Things in Life Are Free" in the foyer scene)

    - Orchestral music from the Sunset Boulevard soundtrack

  • Gloria before her Sunset Boulevard years and all that

  • exactly what i was thinking around 6:08

  • That was soo good! 5*'s!!

  • That was awesome! and Quite worthy of 5 stars. ^_^

  • lolz this is just the thing i'd love to do (be in that kind of thing i mean)

    it's great

    love xxx

  • well done

  • that was amazing! keep up the good work!

  • bravo!!!

  • that was excellent excellent excellent. great job!!!!!

  • Cool!

  • the sound was the only thing that bothered me, a lil too much effect, not dry enough.. great acting and use of the NOIR style, just the sound... great job however!

  • very good

  • that was really good! i quite enjoyed that

  • wonderful

  • I have a thing for females who are passionate about their work.

  • "I have a thing for females who are passionate about their work"

Same here -- especially when it leads them to insanity!

  • Nice videography, guys! You sound could be improved with a good shotgun mic or some EV 635a's and an audio compressor. Howie

  • "...sound could be improved with a shotgun mic"

We began filming using one, but the connection was funky and we were getting lots of noise, so we ditched it and just used camera audio (unfortunately). We justified it to ourselves as, "uh...maybe it'll make it sound like an ~*old*~ recording?" but it does indeed just sound muffled.

  • Very nicely done.Equally creepy and funny.

  • magnificent!

  • Man, you two boys look great in 40's menswear. If you two ever consider a walk on the gay side...let me know. ;-)

Nah, but seriously, you totally nailed the vibe of it. Great job.

  • I love this! It's truley classic Hollywood!

  • The chick in red was a good actress.

  • ...It's black and white. ;-]

You mean the leading lady? Her dress IS red, actually (I co-directed).

  • Can we have a version with subtitles? Thanks!

  • Bravo........applause

  • are you still making any more videos?! :( this was great btw!

  • SOMETHING LIKE TOWER OF TERROR LOL

  • Actually, you're not too far off -- we used highly-reverberated Vera Lynn music ("I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles"), as does The Tower of Terror ride ("We'll Meet Again"). Good job on making the connection. ;-)

  • Devastatingly spectacular! Well done!

  • Love your wording. Thanks a ton! :-]

  • ooooh u did it based in my fave movie years I love the old classics and watching this made it feel like i was watching one of them. The accents on acters were magnifficent, love the malow drama... Beautiful!

  • Lovely review, thanks so much!

  • fun stuff love that style wish this was longer.

  • As do I, but we only had one night to film it! :-[ So glad you enjoyed it!

  • nice work. been checking out your videos. good stuff. can't wait to see more.

  • brilliant

  • This was pretty good, but at the sametime it was to weird seeing this kind of stuff. I almost wanted to start smoking crack again.

  • i loved it u realy did a spectacular job if i do say so myself

  • This look like a old epsiode of the Twlight Zone. LOL.

  • Very well done, and I loved the music!

  • loved it

  • wonderful!

  • Ooh!

    Fabulous. I really enjoyed this.

Tell me, what was the camera(s?) you used?

  • So typical of Gar to be alone in the shadows drinking. (as seen in the 58 second mark)

  • BRAVO!! very well done

  • I enjoyed this very much, I like how you used this era to tell the story, probably my favorite era throughout the 20th century. Anyway, nice job, a little on the morbid side, but thats why I like it. Great stuff!

  • i loved this - its an era of film i love - you did amazingly well re-building that era.

  • I really dug this man. Great job.

  • Brilliant!

  • Brilliant movie. Very Professional and you really captured the era.

  • wow this was the best youtube vid I have ever scene! very professional!

  • this is ace! really professional! howd you keep straight faces!! :P 5 stars

  • My only gripe about your short film was that the toast scene had too many cuts, instead of one long take. Not saying that you lack decent skill, but I'm guessing you were pressed for time? Or maybe the room was too small? Other than that, I liked it, especially when you superimposed confetti falling and the announcer stating the winner when she's basking -- very Sunset Blvd-inspired!

  • Yes, we did the whole thing in five hours. :-x Thanks a ton for the feedback!

  • LIKED IT A LOT!!!

  • I really liked this! It had a very authentic feel to it and you really captured her madness well!

When will we get to see more of your films?

  • I really like your videos like this one and the emoc but wichh program do you use

ps: my english suckkks im sorry lol:S

  • Thanks! We use Final Cut Express.

  • I actually thought that was pretty good

  • Emmmm. Big fan of your other work, but the writing in this didn't please me. :(

  • What didn't you like about the writing?

  • Absolutely wonderful. You guys capture Classic Hollywood better than the guys in studios in L.A. Please make more! Perhaps something Vivien Leigh-based? :D

  • Wow, that means a lot! Did you like the Vivien reference in this? ;-)

  • "You may have beaten out Vivien"? Which is impossible, of course ;D but yeah, I loved it!

  • you're very talented. i especially enjoyed the camerawork in this movie. mostly during the tirade just before the dirty deed. fantastic job, really. =)

  • Thanks! My brother Garrison and I took turns with the filming. We did it all in one night -- about 5 hours. :-x Hectic it was.

  • This is amazing. I would kill to be able to make and edit movies half as well as you can.

    It made me giggle.

    <33

  • Hahaha, why thank you. Glad you share our humor!

  • I oficially worship you. -bows down-

  • AMAZING!! Joan Crawford in her finest role yet! I loved the lighting.

  • Haha, Megan did a grand job, but wouldn't the real Joan Crawford have been fabulous as Cathy? I'm sad she never played a role like this!

    Thanks for the feedback!

  • Thanks a ton, that means a lot! ~ Chris
