They are criminals that profited from a nuclear disaster waiting to happen. No one forced them to build and maintain highly dangerous nuclear reactors, or to work for TEPCO. But, you say ONE thing the LEAST positive in favor of solar, wind, socialism, and communism, and the pro-capitalist religionists are ALL over, screaming "you're BIASED" at you.
@mphello It would be nice of Diane Sawyer had the decency to climb a flag pole and sit on it, instead of accepting millions of bucks to wave a flag celebrating the stupidity of TEPCO's owners and employees for building and maintaining outdated nuclear reactors containing plutonium, that are situated in areas subject to severe earthquakes and Tsunamis. ---- This commemoration of stupidity is sickening. Diane clearly is attempting to obfuscate a global disaster enabled by TEPCO and its workers.
@mphello Absolutely right. Now, it's "The Fukushima 180". Granted, there were NONE TEPCO first responders that are entirely blameless, such as: dozens of Firemen, and helecopter pilots that made futile efforts to dump water. These folks were of course paid to assist, but it would be insane to say that they profited from the accident, or that their purpose was to ENABLE a nuclear disaster of global proportions. What REALLY bugs me are ALL the idiots that profess the TEPCO workers are blameless.
@yourtreat2 Yes, of course. You and I both know we can know for certain EVERY single individuals' situation, who really had no choice but to work for a nuclear plant or else starve. But, I think you and I are in 99% agreement that - yeah - those currently cleaning up this mess are a proper subset of the cheerleaders for nuclear.
@mphello Agreed. They are only a subset. And as I said before, the heros are the 1st responders that did not profit from dedicating their lives to profiting from a global disaster waiting to happen, i.e. the Firemen/women, and the chopper pilots, for example. THOSE people could be called heros, NOT the people that enabled the creation of a global nuclear disaster.
@yourtreat2 You sir are an idiot, Do you honestly think the men working in the radio active zone's are to blame for everything that went wrong. To say the workers are moronic just proves you've got no concept of honour or any form of pride. (i will agree that this video is a load of bollox but dont be so arogant as to insult someone who's given their life to save others)
The truly brave ones are Greenpeace and anti-nuclear protestors and activists who have fought thanklessly and against big government ridicule to prevent disasters like this.
@Cab0cl0 Then YOU go live next to Chernobyl and Fukushima. YOU go pay those people FORCED to move from their homes AGAINST THEIR WILL BY FUCKING STUPID SHITHEADED KNOW-NOTHING PRO-NUKE IDIOTS.
All should just take a moment and look at their actions not what they may or may not get. Totally different from running in to help someone in a split second decision and knowing full well they have a high probability that they will die a very painful death. The world will be a lesser place because we loose people such as these. I hope none suffer and that many remember their sacrifice for many, many years to come, I know I will.
they get offered $5,000 to be "jumpers" and jump into highly radioactive areas and do a job real quick then jump out, but many are declining the offer.
Radiation 101: Millisievert mSv is the standard to measure the effective dose of exposure to radiation.. Fukushima workers have been exposed to about 180mSv. Japanese government raised the max allowable from 100 to 250 for this job. (Canada's max during crisis is set at 500 ) As workers nudge that limit, they are moved to low-dose area and other workers come in.. At 1986 Chernobyl meltdown, workers who died received 6000 - 16000 mSv in short period. Within 3 months, 28 died. ,
@BIERDZ But NOBODY has EVER died from radiation or radioactivity (yes, I know the difference) or nuclear power plant accidents, and NOBODY has EVER been displaced from their homes, costing them their property. THAT is the absolute religious dogma of the pro-nuclear-power people.
So, therefore, there is ZERO reason to salute or honor or respect these nuclear-plant workers,
because they are just playing around having fun, NOT doing anything "dangerous" in these plants.
most of them are local people in Fukushima. some of them lost their family but they still working on, I wathched their interview on TV, they said 'We are not heroe, because we've believed the nuclear plant is absolute safe, and we said it to our familes and neighbors. but it was not safe, that means we betrayed them. we really sorry for all of japanese people. all we can do is try to stop nuclear disaster."
Yes, they, who've been working in Fukushima( not these in this clip. These images are not the ones of Fukushima. It is so misleading Shame on you, ABC)
Knowing they will likely die of cancer in a few years?? Get the fact and calm down America. There are many many people who lived and still live long life after being exposed to radiation in Hiroshima. What if this happens in U.S.? I'm afraid people freak out and desert the coutry. Look how calm & strong Japanese people are.
Knowing they will likely die of cancer in few years, yet most volunteered and are working diligently to save their fellow human beings is Deeply Impressive

He is best known as the host of the Disney children's science show Bill Nye the Science Guy (1993–1997) and for his many subsequent appearances in popular media as a science educator"

The people that made big bucks selling that energy over the years should be cleaning up along whoever built it there and all. Sadly it's just going to be some workers that die... as usual.
After 9/11 and Katrina, US meda has become a merchant to sell news.
For better TV ratings, they create sensational stories. They often invite "experts" whose credentilals are very doubtful, and fan the fear mongering for the better result.
They look for heros and make them. These emages in this clip have nothing to do with what is happening in Fukushima. It's a fiction even with an emotional music sound effect.. This is utterly disgusting. Unfortunately , people buy this.
@BIERDZ here,here.............their white,,,l mean your right. the SAME plant by GE iz between S.D. & LA right on the coast it's built really weak, God don't let nothing happen to it.....move LA??
Now all they need are steel and construction workers. The containment vessels have been breached! Nothing left to do now but build one of the worlds largest structures to entomb these reactors for ever. Game Over. This should have been realized weeks ago, maybe the world could have taken a second to stop bombing Lybia and come together to face and fix one of the worst disasters that has ever been seen.
@Heretic1Critic...... I really think you need to take a look at your numbers again. This event appears to have surpassed Chernobyl weeks ago in the eyes of most credible scientists, but hey since some guy on youtube said it. It must be true.
@ScamArtists33 are you joking? Chernobyl was a grade 7 nuclear disaster. Japans nuclear problem is barely a 5. Chernobyl spread radiation across the whole of Europe and had to be enclosed in a lead box and abandoned.
@Heretic1Critic No not really. Last numbers I checked there were 3 grade 6 nuclear disasters at the Fukushima 1 plant. I think you should do some research as to what the spend fuel pools held, the MOX reactor in Unit 3, who knows what was going on in Unit 4 (weapons grade spend fuel rods), and give it some time. We are only two weeks into this. It will not be solved over night and it will get worse before it gets better.
@Heretic1Critic Guess what is going to have to happen to all seven of those reactors. Just because the media isn't telling doesn't mean its not happening. Scientist and Engineer Bill Nye says the he already believe that this is what worse than Chernobyl and most scientist agree. Chernobyl was not this close to the water table or ocean, and it was one reactor, that did not contain a MOX Fueled reactor.
Actually, the number of the workers that was about 800 before the crisis was once reduced to about 50 on March 15th right after the explosion at the 4th reactor, but it has gone back to 300-500 now. Some are from the electric company that runs the plant (Tepco/Toden), and others from group companies such as Toden Kogyo. The firefighters are also taking turn. The first ones that made the water sprinkle were from Tokyo Hyper rescue team, and now the ones from Kawasaki and Yokohama are on mission.
i respect them, but exposure to high dosage of radiation doesnt meant u will die of cancer. It just means higher risks. Their family will probably recieve a huge paycheck in exchange for their work. Nuclear energy is good, the radition waste is bad, but its still 100x better than countries goin to war over energy = oil.
A really important thing is not expressible in the reproduced image with low quality like this. The title is written in Chinese at the end of the image.
It is not Japanese.
Another has a more high-quality image.
However, it agrees completely for children this image.
@HongKongKanto Umm no. Soviet Union forced many of them to do so. Many of them did it out of respect for their people and humanity though, but either way, they are all heroes who fight back at possible death, but they push forward. Don't say someone is more bad ass than the other, because these acts define a profound respect for humanity. They all have my respect.
every one is suffering... to do an right thing u need to have an good officer to execute u need an good team ..one for all all for one ...this is not an Armageddon story ...this is about pride hop u understand about the situation...don't play with people pride an make it like an drama.. thank you
Then, if the expression not to invite misunderstanding or annotating rugged has been added to American citizen though it is good. The image is a fiction.
@sheltiesally It's obvious. Not necessary. Again, it is the least important.
I hope that Japan starts seeking for alternative energy too... Mankind is too greedy... The economy shouldn't govern us... We should become more reasonable, look for alternatives, accept to stop economic growth - we're killing ourselves, the innocent animals and plants - and last but not least the whole planet. The bosses of Fukushima should be on location - not the workers... What an injustice - even if the faceless 50 and numerous firefighters think differently...
@schokolade975 Amen! I don't give a FUCK about ANYone who was pro-nuclear who now in his foolishness has to clean up the mess THEY created. The only workers who are heroes would be slaves forced to rescue a nuclear plant, and I'm not sure how many there are of them in Japan.
But, my friends and family are mostly concerned about the non-human animals suffering.

i respect them, but exposure to high dosage of radiation doesnt meant u will die of cancer. It just means higher risks. Their family will probably recieve a huge paycheck in exchange for their work. Nuclear energy is good, the radition waste is bad, but its still 100x better than countries goin to war over energy = oil.

@deedrah123 Are you kidding me?? Perhaps you don't understand the difference between a motorbike stunt and THIS!!!

A really important thing is not expressible in the reproduced image with low quality like this. The title is written in Chinese at the end of the image.
It is not Japanese.
Another has a more high-quality image.
However, it agrees completely for children this image.

They are ordinary salaried men. Promotion of nuclear plants are government policy not them obviously. They happened to be officials of power plants.
mikafan1003 11 months ago
They are "KAMIKAZE".
It is people in succession to "YAMATO-DAMASHII"(Sprit of YAMATO) which our grandfathers had.
The Japanese occasionally does ancestors, a family, the history, a hometown than an individual if very important.
I am proud of them as the same Japanese.

@akmr4724 sowjet union had 10000 people doing this job you just have 50, sowjet russia is more badass than you.
HongKongKanto 11 months ago
@HongKongKanto Umm no. Soviet Union forced many of them to do so. Many of them did it out of respect for their people and humanity though, but either way, they are all heroes who fight back at possible death, but they push forward. Don't say someone is more bad ass than the other, because these acts define a profound respect for humanity. They all have my respect.

Strange. We don't hear about them at all in Japan.
The power company is hiding what's going on in there.

Then, if the expression not to invite misunderstanding or annotating rugged has been added to American citizen though it is good. The image is a fiction.
sheltiesally 11 months ago
@sheltiesally It's obvious. Not necessary. Again, it is the least important.

Heroes of this animation are not the person of Tokyo Electric Power Company. Is it a person of the United States rescue?
sheltiesally 11 months ago
@sheltiesally It doesn't matter. Not important for the content.
tomashiby 11 months ago

I hope that Japan starts seeking for alternative energy too... Mankind is too greedy... The economy shouldn't govern us... We should become more reasonable, look for alternatives, accept to stop economic growth - we're killing ourselves, the innocent animals and plants - and last but not least the whole planet. The bosses of Fukushima should be on location - not the workers... What an injustice - even if the faceless 50 and numerous firefighters think differently...

tomashiby 11 months ago
@schokolade975 Amen! I don't give a FUCK about ANYone who was pro-nuclear who now in his foolishness has to clean up the mess THEY created. The only workers who are heroes would be slaves forced to rescue a nuclear plant, and I'm not sure how many there are of them in Japan.
But, my friends and family are mostly concerned about the non-human animals suffering.
