omg.. A BLACK HOLE .. IS NOT A HOLE.. DO YOU KNOW HOW BIG A STAR IS OR A BLACK BODY .. ANY POINT AROUND IT IS A FIELD SO HUGE YOU WOULD BE AN ATOM AT THE FACE OF IT..
black-hole is the power to our universe, this is a backbone to stay in float in the endless abyss of the universe, without it everything will fall. and image it! that we are in a really BiG black-hole in our entire universe... and black-hole is not black at all its just invisible, and it can trap bend light its a "dense space", many-many-many dense space in the universe.
Why a black hole? Why not a black object with massive density? Maybe there is no object and there is just massive force holding everything together. I suppose will won't know for sure. I see "black hole" as a fill in the blank answer.
Well don't you think the idea of a black hole is also kind of like religion? I mean without any pictures or real proof of a black hole aren't you taking it on faith they exist?
*ahem* Gravity... which we can measure... Oh wait, that's right, gravity is a theory. We can all friggen fly.
Here's why: stars exist, and we can see those orbiting something we -can't- see, and we can use mathematical equations to determine that SOMETHING is in the middle of all that, extremely dense, and small. That's called a black hole.
There's no "massive force" that's just sitting out there for no reason. There's something causing it which we CAN detect.
P.S. The Bible doesn't count as "proof of god". Because man wrote (and edited) that book many times over.
Plus, we're going to test Einstein's theory of relativity on this black hole, to see if gravity works the way we think it does. Look it up, do some research, and stop trying to argue.
Well I suppose you have to call the "Something" in space with a name. I just don't know where they got the idea it was a hole. Without proof I think a its a big step to call it a hole. Gravity doesn't need a hole to hang around in any case.
But if gravity does work the way we think it does (hence why we're using this black hole to test Einstein's theory), then it will, in fact, be a literal hole in space and time.
Science is looking at pictures of something that is so far away they cannot get there. To say it has the ability to encompass time or is a hole is pure speculation. Is there gravity there yes! Anything else it a theory.
You know what math is, right? 1 + 1 does not equal 3 no matter which way you look at it. We don't need to go and poke it for ourselves to know it exists...
Why the hell am I still debating this? You know nothing about mathematics or physics! And for the god damn record, that's why we're TESTING this theory now that we can! No shit it's still just a theory. So's gravity but it's not tape holding your ass to your seat!
I give up.
"There are no stupid questions, just stupid people."
I have a problem with people who assume because they can't see something, it doesn't exist. Can you see electricity? No. You can see ionized particles in the air from lightning, but that's not electricity.
So go stick a fork in your outlet and tell me what happens. Bet you can detect THAT. It works exactly the same way with X-Ray telescopes.
That's how we can "see" black holes... You can't see X-Rays either though, can you? No, but special telescopes can.
I never said a black hole can't exist. I am also done with this thread as your becoming more and more belligerent towards me with every post. I think we can agree to disagree and be civil at the same time. Well at least I can...
The fact is you're just wrong. Watch the above video again and understand you're just WRONG.
The fact is Science now knows, for a fact, that black holes exist. Doesn't mean they're literally holes, as that much -is- just still theory, but we're still calling them black holes regardless.
And the reason I'm throwing about insults is because it's very frustrating when you either blow off what I say or become hypocritical and revise your prior statements so as to appear correct.
Or maybe, the only reason we can see the black hole now is because we are getting closer to it. I mean if the Milky ways our galaxy and we are part of it, then wouldnt we be caught in the middle of this big orbit?
No, we can now see the black hole because we have better tools. Black holes don't draw objects into themselves anymore than their original star did. The supermassive black holes at the center of galaxies don't hold together galaxies, they are simply at the center of galaxies.
That's also the reason that Einstein had a theory that in 2012, when earth will pas trough the galactic equator, North and South pole will flip. It happened before.

Physics do not work that way.
That's religion you're thinking of.

Hm, well I suppose that's a good point. Scientists just give some things names that realistically don't make sense.
Like the Big Bang. It wasn't big, and there was no "bang", but rather; 'rapid expansion,' what really happened, just sounds silly. :P I admit.

Seriously, do you even know what Einstein's Theory of Relativity is?
Obviously not, or this debate would have ended long ago. That's why it's a fucking theory. That's why we plan on testing it now.
And you're doubling back on your own words there. First you say maybe there's just some "massive force" out there, and denying gravity.
Now you say gravity is out there as if you knew that all along.
I think you're just fucking with my head at this point. >_> And it's working... Stop it.

I just have a problem with Black hole as nobody has ever seen one. It seems contrived to me.
Don't make assumptions about people you do not know. I program Physx all the time.

Your argument is invalid.

And I seriously think I'm being trolled now.
Physx has nothing to do with Physics.
Physx is a computer program.
Physics is sticking your fork in an outlet. Also black holes.

Well played, to say the least. Well played.
But if you're not a troll you should review the conversation... Re-read what you've written.

Troll - an internet user who sends inflammatory or provocative messages designed to elicit negative responses or start a flame-war.
I never used any inflammatory or provocative language. In fact you were the one tossing around assumptions on people's intelligence.
You even cast insults when I disagree with your ideals.
The fact is science does not know for a fact black holes even exist.

We agree then. Black holes may not be holes at all. They may be black objects of massive density.
