'Unfortunately much of the Welsh population are ignorant of this national treasure & are content to be so.'
What utter nonsense. Most of the population of Europe and the United states are totally ignorant of their opera stars. Wales is a small country and has, and still, continues to punch way above its weight in the world of opera. Get up off your knees and give credit to Wales which values its singers and musicians.
The choir is ethereal and Miss Evans unbelievable. No one has ever done this piece more beautifully. Callas, Tebaldi and others all must take a seat way behind Evans. Her skills are incredible and her voice magical. Wow!
I have had the good fortune to attend recitals & a performance of La boheme by Rebecca Evans. She is an artist who communicates immediatly with her audience with her lovely voice & engaging personality. One would think that in THE LAND OF SONG (Wales) this Welsh soprano would be universally known. Unfortunately much of the Welsh population are ignorant of this national treasure & are content to be so.
I think that Verdi would have been very proud and moved to have his music so beautifully performed " diction " and all by the sensitive warm passionate chorus and Rebecca Evans who Ive never heard of, but will from now on listen to with great interest.
I am guessing the chorus is the famous Mens' chorus of Wales...they sound glorious, the diction is a mess, but who cares. I love Rebecca Evan's voice here. Why do we not hear more of her in America?
it is from Verdi´s "La forza del destino" and it is the scene (after a beautiful duet basso/soprano) where the heroine is granted asylum by the prior in a male convent (wearing male disguise). She is a repentent fugitive, because her lover (of lowly descent) killed her father, and her brother is pursuing her, seeking revenge.
Despite the somewhat absurd plot, a very beautiful opera. Listen to it!
cant find anything that comes anywhere near this.. Anywhere Perfect :)

It is incredible what a well trained voice can achieve. Rebecca should be far better known to the music world.
