I did know my mum's mum until I was 7 when she passed away, so for the rest of my life I didn't have any grandparents at all. I find it interesting to listen to people like geriatric1927 so I can learn about history through their eyes (which is the best way to learn in my opinion).

FYI, there's a programs for the blind called Outspoken that speaks aloud everything you want to read. Input is done by the user's voice commands. But if she's lucky enough to still have some vision, both PC and Mac have Universal Access features that increase the screen fonts as big as she would require. Check your computer's settings for Universal Access and play with it. Bet you'll see your grandma could do just fine as long as you set it up for her!
