I think I figured out how the explosion was created to look so real. There is a bright lamp inside the creature that shoot its beam through the explosion piece. I'm not sure if the explosion piece is plastic or another material that when the light beam passes through it causes it to glow.
Actually, Mike sculpted the explosion with expanding foam and a helicopter model that he pieced out and inserted. He than made a mold and hollow cast it in clear resin. Painted it with clear paints, and lite it with a Xmas light string that was placed that was placed inside the hollow cast.
Regarding the explosion in the "Radioactive Fire Monster" diorama, I agree with pokedragon12 that the explosion is a plastic piece. I too would like to know who it was painted.
My favorite is his reimagining of the Rhedosaurus from "Beast from 20,000 Fathoms" in the diorama with the lighthouse. The Gamera diorama with the Gyaos is awesome, looks just like the movie.
Holy Shit!!! How could I missed that !?! And I thought the Japanese's CCP / Artistic Monsters Collection was good. I wish I could add this thing to my collection. ^_^

Mike should make a Zilla(1998) and Clover(Cloverfield monster) battle scene. That would be so cool.

I like how he used the '94 version of the Tristar Godzilla. The other version sucked majorly.

Would it be cool if they remake Beast from 20,000 fathoms, just like GODZILLA(1998) and king kong(2005)
Anguirus07 4 years ago 3
Yeah, if it were done right unlike the Godzilla film. I liked Jacksons King Kong though.
