I believe that Bill Gates is more anti-Borg than most understand. The Borg closely resemble our statist, socialist government who want to remove the concept of the individual and personal property in favor of spreading the wealth to the collective.

Without individuality, we have no motive to achieve. Gates is a true free-market capitalist. He EARNED his fortune - he didn't assimilate (steal) it from others. He doesn't cuddle up to government for special favors, but defends what he earned.

Bill Gates hasn't had a say in anything Microsoft in a long time. When he was still there, he was responsible for public speaches & that's about it. By the time Vista came out, he retired. His timing would suggest that he knew it was going to suck & was washing his hands of the company. But at least he helped make PC gaming more popular before he left.
