Hi. Can you tell me what u think of this mixer please? im thinking about getting one. Are the faders smooth from bottom to top? i mean is it a steady increase or are they quiet till the last quarter of the way? (if u know what i mean) Cheers :)
please asnwer my urging question!! if i buy samson active monitors do i need to buy like an interface? im running on technics mk2 with denon x 300 mixer
I think its great! Do you have a copy I can DL for my iPod? This is great cardio music, and with Ingrid I can never find this version of shock anywhere! good job man!!!
pretty tight mixing dude. IMO u should try making sure that the tracks don't clash harmonically if ur gonna mix them together, a couple spots were kinda chaotic in that sense.
Plsssss guy`s Tell me tha name of the song "we gona make u move like this..we gona make y smowe like this.. we gona baunce u up and down..." PLS TEL ME SOMEONE THE NAME OF THE SONG !
You don't know what you're talking about. I buy my music online from sites like beatport and djdownload and burn my own CDs. Most DJ music is not available on CDs anyway. I've switched to using DVS now, so I don't even need CDs, except as backup. Next time, think before you comment.
good mix, I liked the tunes! - I agree with a lower comment though, don't keep sticking the tune back into the mix after the song, the odd times its good though... hows the mixer aswel? I just ordered one today..
ok mix.. but please top turning up and down the volume after every mix!!... slow down.. smooth transitions... its ok for some songs... but not all. Good choices.. liked the mix.
Yep, you can, although I found it adds a bit of noise to the signal and a lot of the effects it has weren't really designed to be applied to the final mix. A few of the effects, like delay and filter are pretty good though.
hey man great job. whats the name of the last song around the 10min mark? Im seriously thinking about getting into djing...any adice you could through my way would be great.
Did you teach yourself how to DJ? Or was it something that you took lessons for?
I too would like to become a DJ, and was wondering if DJing is something that comes as a instinct or something that people can do just by learning. And what you recommend is the best set-up?
I've seen some gigs where DJ's use 4 CDJ's and I never thought it would be possible to manage so much mixing. What do you typically do?
You can definitely learn yourself, using YouTube videos and DJ forums for guidance. It helps if you know music well, have a good sense of rhythm, maybe know some music theory, but it's not a requirement. Don't worry about mixing of 4 decks, you won't be doing that for a long while, or ever. Just concentrate on mixing 2 records at a time, that will provide plenty of challenge for a year or two.
As far as equipment is concerned there are two many options to list. I suggest you go to DJForums dot com and ask that question (in the beginners section). Don't forget to specify your budget and the style/genre of music you want to mix. Good choice would be 2 CDJ-800s or 400s, and a decent 2/3 channel mixer, something like Ecler Nuo 2 or 3. Avoid effects like a plague for at least first 6 months, they will only interfere with your learning.
There have been a lot of good youtube reviews of them that would provide better information. However, if you have any specific questions send me a PM. BTW, I've switched to CDJ-800s.
I use up-faders to mix, a lot more control that way, not quite as good as rotaries though. Both channels were set to side B of the crossfader, I have an EFX unit, and I assign the EFX to crossfader A side, so I can use the crossfader as a wet/dry fader. I didn't use any EFX in this mix though.

Dude ur mixing is terrible no offence, u have beat matched out of time and u already had it ready!! get some cdj 1000's, practice then post again in a couple of years! u will be embarrassed when u see this in a couple of years, trust me.
Well, thank you for your opinion, check out my new mixes, you might like them better. And no, I will never be embarrassed, we were all beginners at some point and improved. Besides, I do this for fun, I have a career excelling at something else. Peace.
Take no notice, if people spend too much time listening to the ten seconds you're mixing for, rather than the actual tracks you're playing, then that's their problem. Good luck!
can you tell me do u use ur speaker system for big partys. like in weddings and stuff or do u have a different set for big partys? please reply to me i would like to know! thanks!
No, my studio monitors and subwoofer would only work for smaller -indoor- dance parties (maybe <20 people dancing) or for occasions where only background music is required. For other occasions I would rent or borrow a bigger sound system, depending on what is needed. Given that this is only my hobby, and that I don't do many mobile gigs, I didn't yet buy my own bigger sound system.
your mixxing isabit off, technically not that great yet, Your track listing is good. Focus on your mixing mate. your mixing has prob got better since filming this , im just giving some constructive critism
Check out my new mix, I've got 7 transitions in that one. Also, it's not just about quantity, there's more to DJing than quick cuts from one song to another. Thanks for watching :)
ok buddy thanks 4 that youve made my mind it :) i wanted the new pioneer djm 700 and have started to get the money 4 it however my bank account seems to disagree with me lol cheers bro
Great sound, and built like a tank. The channel faders are non-linear with steeper curve at the top, and they are fairly tight (but smooth), works great for mixing. The cross-fader is an alpha fader, similar to Pro X Fade, just not as good. EQ is super, and the cueing scheme is one of the most flexible I've seen. Overall, I highly recommend it.
Vinyl is yesterday's news, but that's a matter of hotly debated opinion. Most entries here use either CD players or DVS system, like Torq or SSL. I've recently upgraded to CDJ-800s though, which have vinyl emulation (not the real thing, but it will do for now).
cool vid. hey i am from the bay as well. pm me if you every want to get together and mix some music. i'm a house dj, use pretty much the same equipment. letm e know - peace
Nice mix...when you do your up fader actions when on the exit, sometimes you can also slowly fade them out using eq (middle) or trim, so it just does not end abruptly...that is how I do them on exit on my last vid...good luck with the comp
I like the music you play, ive always wanted to spin house but i cant afford it and the genre i usually play both on vinyl...Songs are great, i love Supermode! Mixing spot on ;) Keep them coming id love to hear more, oh and your mixer looks AWESOME!!!!
I'm only 16 and getting multiple genres on vinyl is just too expensive for me as i do not earn enough really...but im trying to save for Serato or Torq to combat that :)
to rjdrowley.... ay dont go pc ive been dere done that... to many complications for what its worth... things like midi controlers and buyin software drains your wallet... if u think vinyl is to much go cds...better sound quality den a comp... an mp3 is a compressed music file taking away sounds to make the file smaller. so jus b aware of that and that djin software runs mainly using mp3... then comes the computer problems but thats a story for another day... practice n enjoy ;)
Many DJs use SSL and Torq successfully, it's not a problem. You don't need any extra controllers, just your TTs and a mixer. Also, most people can't tell a difference between a CD and 320Kbps MP3 file, which is what online DJ stores sell (you can buy CD quality WAV files too). Of course, low bitrate MP3 files, below 256Kbps, are not recommended. All this doesn't matter for YouTube though, since YouTube uses 128Kbps and below for audio.
u 4got bout the sound card with 4 in and 4 outs which gotta hav good sound quality. maya44 usb sound card does the job but not the best audio... with serato u get a sound card so dats all good... wif a pc u got more of a risk of loosing music through over use of ur harddrive and ur cpu with its constant use. always keep a spare hd handy... also wif pc djin u lose the feel of REAL djin... its jus not the same.. if uve tried it u know wat i mean
Good advice about the spare hard drive, definitely need to have a backup for your music. SSL, Traktor Scratch, and Torq Connectiv all come with a good sound card built in. I am not sure I agree about "loosing the feel of real DJing" but that's a matter of opinion I guess.
Nice one, let me know when you spin in San Francisco :)
The only thing (IMHO) I hate it when DJs make big pauses with only little beeping and ticking in the background, for example here 5:39-6:01 there is a very long pause. Again, this is only my taste, I will still come to your party event! ;-)
That's a Urei 1603. It's awesome for mixing House, and about anything else where long transitions are common. The EQs are sweet and the sound quality is very good. Cue section is one of the most flexible that I've used. You can probably find a PDF manual online for more info.

It's a good basic mixer, well built, nice sound, etc. If you need a mixer with 3-4 channels, no EFX and reasonable price, it's worth considering.

Again, this is only my taste, I will still come to your party event! ;-)

Thanks for checking it out. Yeah, I don't like these pauses too much either. But this "shock" vocal just did it for me.

I don't think he did a loop over the break at 5:39-6:01 so it is part of the music.

That's a Urei 1603. It's awesome for mixing House, and about anything else where long transitions are common. The EQs are sweet and the sound quality is very good. Cue section is one of the most flexible that I've used. You can probably find a PDF manual online for more info.
