  • the tutorial is horrible, one of the worst i've seen! however i love the result

  • Oh forgot to ask How do you loop the top part I guess I missed it but that is actually a harder thing for me.

  • Thanks So much This is very informative and So beautiful! everyone elses video I have clicked thus far does not look very good :(

  • good luck with schizophrenia

  • This video was HORRIBLE, terrible way of attempting to show us your "idea" of how to wire wrap, & dude your a fuckin weirdoh fer real...............

  • Hello, thank you for this tutorial ... What type of wire used is silver or what the specific name?. Congratulations for the good humor you have. Hugs from Bogota, Colombia.

  • I really liked this video except for one thing, you didnt show how to create the bale at the top. That was the instruction I was most interested in seeing. If you can suggest a tutorial on that part I would be most interested. Thank you

  • First time I ever tried this, but it helped a lot more than the pictorial tutorials I've looked at. How do you keep the pendant from turning into a barbed pendant? I can't cut the ends of the bindings close enough.

  • This is BY FAR the WORST tutorial EVER. What the heck man? How about showing each step as you go, telling how long the wire should be, how to actually wrap the wire, trouble shooting, etc. I saw someone posted that this video was the most informative out of all your others! Well they saved me the time of actually watching your other videos. You are a terrible teacher and I'm glad I didn't pay money for a "so called wire wrapping tutorial" such as this (your own words). Jeeze.

  • Joe, I think you've got everybody beat. I love the pendant.

  • Very nice. Good job.

  • Joe you left out sooo much information. How long is the wire? how to do the actual binding. How to make the Bail Your wiriewrapping looks good, but a begining student woud be completely lost.

  • I enjoyed your video, I love someone with a sense of humor. It appears your good with wire. It's really hard to get everything in you want to in such a short time. I know a little something about wirewrapping so I got what you were saying. Not sure if someone did not know anything about it ,it would be hard. thanks for sharing and making me laugh.

  • I have the same furniture lol!

  • Nice dimples. After looking at other videos, this was the best.

  • very informative.

  • Hilarious! Cute personality, very helpful...was the most helpful out of all the other tutorial options =)

  • @Elainebliss: Check out my video and you will see now I wrapped QUARTERS =) then visit my website at -[wx3DOTseabaublesDOTweeblyDOTcom]- to see more of my creations and follow my facebook fan page okay I hope I can help you if you like the method. I will teach you step by step how I did them. - Bran

  • GOOD VID HERE AND THE FOAM BEARD WAS A GREAT HUMOR TO HELP IT SINK IN- YOU'RE GOOD. THANKS

  • thank you

  • This may be entertaining and fun for the actor, but not to us who are serious about learning the art of wire wrapping!

  • XD your a weird fella, but clearly a genious, thanks so much, I was able to wrap a lovely piece of rose quartz!

  • Congratulations. Very interesting. Have you ever thought of using Murano glass beads?

  • Hi Joe, thanks for posting this video. Quick question... do you know about how much it should cost to have a stone or coin wire wrapped (material costs excluded)?

  • @ElaineInBliss I don't have a standard estimate on what it would cost to wire wrap a stone or coin. I developed an understanding that the size and shape of the object plays a part in the cost as well as the technique. I had a fairly standard shaped rough emerald stone wrapped some years ago (on or before 2005) for about $35 and that was a great deal.

  • Youuare talented and funny Thanks for the instructions.

  • A shout out to all wonderful independent jewelry designers! You can buy all kinds of indie jewelry on the new website IndieShop!

  • etsy.com/shop/Girlgreens

  • Very beautiful pendant and I love the ring you're wearing in the video as well. Thanks for this tutorial. :)

  • nicely done!

  • Beautiful pendant! Thank you for sharing how you did this. I've created some pendants myself and was completed baffled how to do this myself! So thank you so much I hope I can get some fun results with this technique now!

Btw your video was also very funny at the beginning and the end :P

  • Pretty pendant, but the video could be more helpful. Too much wasted time, not enough detail info: what length of wire is used ("the right length" isn't helpful!)? What is the blue tool and how is it used? How do you make the coils to bind (it's nice to see specific technique). What do you use to loop the wire around the stone?

  • WIRE WRAP DVD'S, SUPPLIES, HANDCRAFTED PIECES......

Search "Matt Nix" in your tube search!

  • Yr funny and very inspiring!

  • Very nice! You're like the 'wire whisperer' lol looks like magic! Keep it up!

  • Wonderful piece of jewelry. Looks like it is easier than it is. Enjoyed your bit of humor.

  • LOL!! I like the random humor to make the video more interesting. The ending was reaaallly funny. SO random. I can tell you're a really funny guy and fun to be around.

  • Quite possibly the strangest tutorial I've ever seen, but it was still informative.

  • Thanks for the info.

  • Very nice of you to share. Sense of humor too!

  • fake foam beard :D NICE!

id make one of this though how about a ruby?

  • Thank you for sharing your info with us. With the economy i the pits, It is nice that you are giving of yourself. Saves us some bead money.

    Again, I thank you!!!

  • ooo very nice. thank you for posting. the pendant looked lovely afterwards too :-)

  • helpful i actually learn't something thanks

  • u had me laughing thats great lol, love ur work

  • please show us the missing part! i love this! thx so much.

  • what gage of wire did you use for the binding?

  • I forgot, looked at the spool and it wasn't written but I tried to measure it and it looks like 22 gauge which sounds about right.

  • Thank you, have been looking for this for a bit, very helpful, and i have to say funny. Thank you again.

Would be nice to have a bit of a video on how to finish off the pendant, the way you displayed on this video.

  • It was a good tutorial but you skipped the part about making the bail. It would have been helpful to watch that.

  • Wow... I've been trying to figure out how to do this for years. Thanks.

  • Nice tutorial! I learned something new.

  • haha...what....

  • omg hahaha you are very funny and i wont lie i actually learned from this video, thank you so much!!

  • nice video... short yet informative... thanks for the tips! Continue to post more...

  • So far I have learned more about wire wrapping fom this video than from any other on this site.

  • I so agree with you. Great vid!!

  • what a joke!!!!!!!!!!!

  • is this technique can be used in making ankh jewelry like products in artreprodudction-dot-org

  • i like to produce egyptian jewelry style like in artreproduction(dot)org

  • LOLing! thanks for the humor, i dont know why so many beaders are so dour! and the tutorial was short, sweet and gave me a good feel for basic wire wrapping. thanks!

  • haha, you're so Random! Thanks for the taking the time to make this video!

  • You missed numerous steps...especially how you connected the wires with the short flat pieces and how you scrolled at the top and finished it. It looks nice tho. thanks

  • very nice! I dont know if your interested, but I have an ebay store and I sell a HUGE variety of precious metal wires including Sterling silver, Argentium Silver, 14k gold Filled, 14k White Gold Filled, 14k Rose Gold Filled (my favorite!) Fine Silver, Copper, Titanium and MUCH more! All of my metals come in Round wire, 1/2 round wire, Square wire, and Twisted wire! My ebay store name is Twist of Fate Creations

    Happy Crafting!

  • That was AWESOME! I got to LAUGH while I was learning! You should teach classes!! Get paid...I'd pay you to teach me!

  • the FIRST video that is called a "how to" that actually attempted to teach me something! FINALLY!

  • Love the honesty. Trying to wire wrap myself...when you had the beard on, it would have been hilarious if you would have said, "What.. have you not seen an asian who knows how to wire wrap?...are you racist?" take it easy!

  • LOL. Hysterical, and great jewelry tips!!

  • came across this vid by mistake and so glad I happened by. great info. now I'm on the hunt for more Joe.

  • I really Like this video!!!! Please consider making more! You are a jewelry making rock star! Thank you for the good times!!

  • haha you;re amazing!!! i love this "so called tutorial"

  • You're a nut! I love you! Make more videos. This one helped me to understand the fundamentals, but left out some steps. Hey, Spielberg didn't get right the first couple times out of the shoot either!

  • Anyone whos doing this are you using Half Hard wire or Dead soft ?? reason Im asking is because I started a project on sat using Half Hard .. I was almost done with the setting ,, but when I tried to seperate the wires and bend up (im a dummy) I bent in the wrong directon and snapped the wire !! also ,, do you do the same in the back as in the front to hold the stone in place ?? help ?? newbie,, there should be a site just for this !!

  • Thanks for stopping by. Both half hard and dead soft are okay. I haven't heard of anyone using harder than half hard. I prefer half hard when there's a lot of ornamentation i.e. vines and twirls that need to be sturdy. Dead soft is good if you want a simple design that hugs the stone more. Both can snap though but that is the nature of the craft. It takes some practice to use just the right pressure when bending wire.

  • Hey Joe .. can you tell me what kind of wire you used in this video .. was it DS or HH ? thanks

  • It's been a while and fact is I don't have the piece anymore. If I remember right I may have used dead soft wire with half hard binding.

BTW, if you are looking for a community I setup wire_wrapping on LiveJournal, haven't been on there in a long time but there are some people there whom I remember were very cool and helpful.

  • Thanks !

  • thaaaanks for the vid!

  • thank you! helped me alot!

  • corny but informative

  • Nice vid!! By the way beard looks good on you!!

  • Easier to do it after this video..thank you.

  • Thanks for the instructional video! Nice piece.

  • What a great training! I was able to create my first wire-wrapped pendant after viewing this. Of course, mt first attempt was pretty pathetic, but I have the basics now and the final product is going to be amazing.

Thank you again for the training and the humor!

  • May you create wonderful pieces of jewelry that you would love to wear everyday and have fun as I have. :) Thanks!

  • Thank you for being kind enough to actually show the process of wire wrapping. So many videos on here are just a tease to some sort of instructional video to purchase. I no have money.. jeesh. LOL Anyways thanks! Now if I can only figure out how to do this with a stone that is not "flat!" but more random and roundish... sort of.

  • Finally a video that really shows how to wire wrap a stone. Thank you very much.

  • your ring is so awesome!

  • You are one cool dude! Thanks for the laughs and info. :)

  • I actually understood most of this and the rest I will just improvise. Look forward to more.

Unasked for advise: Don't grow a beard!

  • I just love that pendant you made with my most favorite stone of all stones. I'd wear it in a heartbeat. Great work :)

  • you are adorable! thanks for the great tutorial, and a beautiful finished product! now if only i can get my wire to behave like yours.....

  • That was a good tutorial as far as the basics. But I wish you would have spent time with the finishing. Like, how you made the bale before you did the curly-q part.

  • This was actually what I was looking for so thank you very much. I have a natural crystal that I found with no drilled holes and I want to make a pendant out of it. Of course I want to keep it natural so I really don't want to have it drilled. This is perfect and I can keep it whole. =)

    - Heidi

  • ok, this is what I wanted to know how to do...spent too much time being stupid and cut out the parts showing you how to do it! ugh! How do I wire wrap a pendant that is not predrilled, that is the question!

  • question: is this possible to do with real gemstones? i mean the fully faceted ten carat amethyst type gemstones? thanks.

  • More complex but very possible. Typically, you'll need to create a basket to hold the gem.

  • dude you just made my night-really. hahaa, thank you so much.

i'm looking forward to making some awesome jewelry now!

  • ...get them friendly and all...

    Hilarious!!!

  • this is exactly what i am looking for please do more wireing tutorials !!

  • You were very entertaining!

  • Thank you! You made my night:) Too funny!

  • A bit strange, but very informative.

  • You obviously have a good sense of humour and ability to create beautiful jewelery. Be creative, I like that! Thanks for the post.

  • You are a bit odd, however, your instructions make wire wrapping look easy.

  • great video.very helpful.

  • Great tutorial :D I picked up on the technique right away and I've made some beautiful pendants! Thanks for posting n_n

I hope other people find this video as useful as I did :D

  • This guy is sooo much fun..He should be an entertainer!!! tee hee, Great instructor.

  • rock on

  • The tools are a bent chain-nose plier, a round-nose plier, a side cutter/ nipper tool, and a bead reamer.

Your work is absolutely beautiful, btw.

  • That jewelry is exactly the kind of ones I've been looking for; pretty and egg shaped. I'm sorry I couldn't hear in the video quite clearly, where did you say you purchased that?

  • At a local rock shop. Jewelry supply stores sometimes carry them but not always. I ordered some cabochons from a catalog of Riogrande which is also online similar to firemountaingems.

  • Just the info I was looking for. The silly intro and outro did make me snort a bit :) Thank you for posting!

  • this was overall a good video. but what is up with the beginning? it was not convincing.

  • Great tutorial! One of the best! hope there are more!

  • Great job! IMake Jewelry and I will def give this a try!

P.S You are so silly! lol!

    ~Steph

  • nice pendant...i was debating whether or not you were filipino, that eeeverest thing gave it away..am i right?

  • I was born and raised in the Philippines. :) Haven't see it in ages though.

  • Oh! I should have read the first page with the bale! Found it! Beautiful job and beautiful pinky ring on your right hand (did you do it too?)

  • Thanks. I made the pinky ring. It was tricky!

  • Wonderful video! Just one question. When you make the loops for the pendant to hang by do you put two wire ends through the bottom of where the six ends were wrapped? and then make them curly?

  • that is gorgeous

  • Thank you ;P

  • I dont understand the part how he binded them it just kinda went skipped from there.

  • lol muahahah U're so funny ;D though it was really helpfull ;)

  • Very helpful and funny too! If you already know the fundamentals of wire-wrapping you should have no problem figuring out how he did it.

    Great work. Thank you!

  • Thank you so much for providing such educational tutorials on wire wrapped cabochons. Can you recommend a good site to purchase the gold-filled wires?

  • I bought a lot of wire at one time from RioGrande. Thanks!

  • Thank you. Keep up the excellent. I hope to see more tutorials. By the way, thanks for making the tutorials so funny. :D

  • You're welcome. Thanks for the kind comment!

  • Nothing like showing how to do something by not showing how to do something. Would have liked to have seen more of the actual wire work.

Besides that this was interesting and funny!! The ring on your hand is kick ass.

  • did you make that badass ring??? i want to learn more

  • I made the ring I was wearing. Rings are more difficult to make because comfort is much more a factor.

  • ur ring is really cool man nice video

  • haha you are awesome man... thanks for the great video!

  • Perfect!

  • great and simple technique...Thank you and BTW, your funny...giggle, giggle...

  • Hiya, thanks for the video! I was just wondering, did you say that you were using round wire in the video? Is it easier to use round? Many cabochon wrapping tutorials I come across suggest square wire for the frame, and half-round for the wrapping, and I can't find cheap square wire anywhere!

  • I used round wire and in my experience using square wire is more difficult because you have to keep the sides oriented.

  • Cool. I'll have to buy some half-round wire soon.

  • Thank you for posting this video! Very helpful and entertaining. lol ; )

You made it easier to understand how to bend the brackets to hold in the stone, so much more easier then anything I've seen.

  • Very helpful - thanks so much! You got me started in the right direction.

  • I hope that you will up road other style of wire wrap video soon!

  • thanks so much for posting. i actually understand what you are doing.

    I'll go subscribe now...

  • Very good. This guy should do more tutorials. He's got a very easy going laid back manner and I actually understood what he was doing. I going to try to wrap a druzy. Thanks!

  • Oh my gosh- I just spent something like $165.00 on a wirewrapping class in Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago. All I had to do was watch this video, and I would still have $165.00 in my pocket! : )

    Thanks for sharing!

  • You're welcome. I hope the class you attended had hands on work - that helps but $165 still is pricey.

  • Oh my gosh- I just spent something like $165.00 on a wirewrapping class in Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago. All I had to do was watch this video, and I would still have $165.00 in my pocket! : )

    Thanks for sharing!

  • Great video! I wish I had seen this 2 years ago when I was teaching myself.

  • Very funny, and informative. Thanks!

  • Could you please advise as to what wire gage and do you use halfhard or soft?

    Thanx!

  • Gauge 20. I like using half-hard.

  • Disregard my question about your other videos. I found them and watched all of them. Love them!!!!

  • I enjoyed watching your video. You are hilarious!! I have to say, your video is the most entertaining jewelry making video on Youtube!

    Do you have other videos?

  • Thanks!

  • Thank you for the help on this one! Do you have any advice for round rocks? Ones that have not been cut or sliced?

  • You're welcome. You can use the basic technique in this video as long as the rock is flat. If it is spherical then try to build a cage embracing the stone with 3 or more artistically bent wire columns and possibly 2 bales (one on each side) for an east to west presentation.

  • I enjoyed your video thank you.

  • You're welcome. Have fun!

  • How durable are these pieces? I'm bad on rings; they get banged around a lot.

  • I've worn both pendants and rings for months only taking them off while bathing and gardening. So far so good.

  • That wrapped present was beautiful, but the cam wasn't showing it once you went to wrap the top (where you said, "Be creative.") Can you explain what you did at the top?

  • At that point the pendant is structurally sound and you are left (hopefully) with extra wire that you literally can do anything with. The goal is to embellish, most commonly twisting the wire to resemble vines.

  • THAT WAS SO AWSOME .

  • Thanks! Have fun!

  • Okay, I subscribed. This was funny and very informative. What a beautiful moonstone you had to showcase in your gorgeous wirewrapping. Thanks.

  • You're welcome. Have fun! Thanks!

  • You Need To Make More. Your so very Cute and your Wraped Stone was Beautiful.

    MAKE MORE!!!!!!

    Thanks for sharing...

  • Thanks! :) I have a video planned for simple wire earrings but I don't know when I will be able to get to make it.

  • this is a cool video. funny and educational.

    thanks for showing us.

  • This was exactly what I was looking for today. Making a Christmas present and the pendant wrapping was a great idea. I'm going to go get started right now. I just won't do the beard part- I think it should work out without it1 :) Please do my videos love your syle and sense of humor. Happy Holidays!!

  • It is a great gift idea. Have fun even without the foam beard. :) Merry Christmas!

  • Wonderful! Very informative! Loved the BEard and your sense of humor! Thanks for Sharing!

    Alette

  • You're welcome. Have fun!

  • soooooo beautiful!!!....can you please write here the exact name for that wire???...i'm asking you this because my mother language is spanish...so it's much more easy for me to translate if a read it...thank you so much!!!

    kisses from spain!
