@EasilyGod not true, it's by changing your display name.

Say your log in name is "trouserworm" and you change your name to something else, it still recalls your last display name, however if you change it AGAIN it only remembers your last name, and then the name trouserworm becomes available.

It has nothing to do with activity but rather changing your diplay name twice.
