You should be able to have a governing force them helps protect workers rights and makes sure that workers have a safe working environment. However, workers should NOT be able to go on strike in masses and expect their jobs to be protected/saved for them until the company gives them what they want. The workers are then holding the company hostage which in the end will cause everyone to lose.

The total 3.55 TRILLION budget includes 663.7 Billion for defense and the 700 Billion for each war cost to date is paid by a separate bill. Government unions should not have collective bargaining rights. These "rights" for monopolistic services create a class of politically priveledged groups who have a higher degree of power than those in the private sector. The reason we see these rights in the private sector is because workers have a direct fiscal relationship with an employer. There is no direct relationship with the "state", because the state mostly consists of private sector taxpayers who don't have a say.
Don't get me wrong, I know most Democrats are much the same. Only instead of appealing to religion, racism and homophobia, they actually tell the middle/lower classes that they will fight for them in Congress. They say they will fight for real healthcare reform, only to pass watered down half-measures. There are a few good Democrats left in Congress, but they are growing fewer. Marcy Kaptur is amazing. She speaks the truth so courageously that it's sexy. We need more like her.
But if Republicans ever just told the truth and said "Look, we are in this to protect and promote corporations and the wealthiest of the wealthy", they would cease to exist as a political party. They can never do that, so they simply have to lie. If they didn't lie, they could not function. The Republican party could not survive without lying, period. But that will only hold up for so long. Anything that is based upon lies cannot sustain itself. Slowly but surely, it will crumble and fade.

I do pay taxes dipshit. I probably only make about $10k a year but I still pay taxes. Every week; federal, FICA, medicare, state, over $400 year to date, plus I pay sales tax every time I buy something, plus gas tax. Government unions should not have collective bargaining rights. These "rights" for monopolistic services create a class of politically priveledged groups who have a higher degree of power than those in the private sector. The reason we see these rights in the private sector is because workers have a direct fiscal relationship with an employer. There is no direct relationship with the "state", because the state mostly consists of private sector taxpayers who don't have a say.

So unless you have anything factual beyond your opinion you might want to rethink your stance. @themange59 Try READING the constitution, all of it, instead of the parts that you feel best support your pathetic arguments. Here, trya bit of the 10th Amendment: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
This means that the sole discretion of whether public employees can unionize and have rights, lies with the States, and they have deemed that they do not!

Your name makes me very sad. I work for a non profit Christian run organization who works with homeless and at risk youth. Most of these kids didn't have a chance coming from broken and dysfunctional homes. The story these kids could tell you would probably make even you cry. Get some compassion and empathy, or change your name, seriously. Your "one size fits all" ignorant answers mean nothing in the real world.

Unions gave us a 40hr work week, BATHROOM BREAKS, employer sponsored healthcare, OHSA, Fire escapes, Child labor laws, MINIMUM WAGE (Slave wages, but better than pennies on the dollar), and every benefit that any employee in the US has, to eliminate unions is to eliminate many of our inalienable rights guaranteed in the Constitution.

@TheChristianRight09 When the top 1% pay less in taxes than the bottom 97%, they do not pay more taxes. The inequality in taxes is UNAMERICAN and UNCHRISTIAN. The rich create less jobs than government. The tax cuts that GWB put in place have been ongoing for more than nine years and the job loss in the US is greater than job loss in the Depression of the 1930s. (Even as a percentage of jobs, not just numerically.) Jesus wouldn't vote for tax cuts for the rich, why should you?

Unions in the public sector should not exist. When they collectively bargain for higher wages it means higher taxes for Americans. They call it collectively bargaining but its more like "undue influence."

Private-sector unions bargain over limited profits. Competition from other businesses moderates wage demands. Governments earn no profits and have no competition. Government unions negotiate for more tax dollars.

I dunno, maybe I'm biased, but after watching NewLeftMedia's interviews with Tea Baggers and Beck listeners, the people in this video seemed much more articulate and knowledgable. Maybe that reflects on the bias of NewLeftMedia's editing, but it also corresponds with my personal encounters with such people.

It would only be hypocrisy if I weren't willing to pay as well, which I am, and I'd be willing to pay higher on the scale if I were higher on the scale. If I made $1 million dollars a year, I wouldn't complain about a 36% tax above $250k, or even a 70% tax above $1 million. Rich people don't get rich in a vacuum, and their riches shouldn't stay in a vacuum.

I do pay taxes dipshit. I probably only make about $10k a year but I still pay taxes. Every week; federal, FICA, medicare, state, over $400 year to date, plus I pay sales tax every time I buy something, plus gas tax. I don't complain about paying them, I just wish they were spent wiser. If I were making $1 million/year, I'd care even less about paying them.
