I am not saying this one is rabid; Just for the average person to not mistake a coyote or fox as a domestic pet. Wild animals will naturally bite in self defense. Until you earn their trust through time and experience don't go trying to pet a beautiful fox, coyote, raccoon or cougar. A sign of rabies is when wild animals lose fear of humans. That is all I meant!
When I was 14 I was out rabbit hunting and happened upon a mated pair of coyotes. Instinctively I sat down and they sniffed me n left
lQQks like a DOG,But sooo cute ,i would Feed him till he back AGAIN & again as pet ..i heard usually they just ran away if ever see a human ,this is strange
they have to get use to your presence before you try to get close to them... if they see you in the distance often, they will likely be less and less intimidated by your presence. However, if you try too soon too get close they will NOT learn you are not a threat and than, it must be avoided until its them who decide to get close first. To gain trust from a wild animal, move as slowly and CALMY as possible, try to look smaller than what you are, size represent threat to them.
This fox is very laid back and trusting, his behavior shows that he is not afraid and knows that you will not hurt him or her. Most foxes are like this. I've met many wild foxes in the woods and most will happily come and observe you closely.
A wild female fox and her kits live close to my house. The female fox trusts me so much that she allows her kits to play with me. Its quit a wonderful experience cuddling wild foxes, and the mother gets along well with my Chihuahua. So cute!
u shoulndt have got this close , this is very dangerous, fox dont usually come close to pepole, and when they do , theyre usually sick and so very dangerous or are very hungry, fox is a wild animal!
Actually wild foxes aren't as dangerous as you think. Their temperament is more cat-like and as long as you're not threatening or trying to hurt them I highly doubt a fox would attack out of the blue. They're shy animals, not rabid carnivores.
@ProjectUmbra I just see them as little canines with the good sense to live wild in urban areas. More and more are taking to the daylight. I saw one outside my gym yesterday afternoon just crossing the road in the sun. The other 2 locals walking past didn't bat an eyelid, but I just stood there muttering " un - bloody- believable " lol
@marinelover52 Why do humans always gotta look at the bad sides of things? You always suspect things of being dangerus with rabies or psychotic just because it's not also human. If you saw a granny on the floor in the street you wouldent think twice about helping her up. But she might have aids, a gun, or anything. If you saw a dog crippled on the road you would say " oh it might have a life threatening illness, best not help".
@crackerstolemybike You're comparing to what Marinelove52's words to indian Karma. He/she just doesn't realize that this person has a license to raise this animal from baby to adult.
I live in the desert, so we don't have those cool orange foxes. Those are fuckin gorgeous. And are they always so domesticated? I woulda kept that thing, took it for a walk. "Is that a fox??" "Yes, yes it is."
@MissAberdean ...it is a RED fox....and they are WILD ANIMALS..spread rabies here in Va...and sound like something out of a horror movie when they "call" at night....but...they are pretty...
@FFS1NICO nah dude, i think the fox was just curiouse. i think animals like these can sense tension or danger, and this fox probebly knew that the person was just as curiouse as he was.
if u want to feed her, just lay some food in the forest near your house, when she is going to your garden and leaves again, look where shes running to and lay some food in that area. ofcourse raw food.
Also, red foxes do not attack domestic cats in the UK. They are not stupid, cats have formidable protection in the form of claws. Foxes know this. Its an urban myth, do some research. Don't be ignorant all your life dude.
Even if you did feed her, why would it be an issue? Foxes will never be reliant on any food you give them, they are way more intelligent than us humans give them credit for. Also, they are not "classified" as vermin, that's an ignorant statement.
@itadakimasu101 there a different species my friend, those animals youve listed have been domesticated since medival times, a human is a foxes natural energy. If i where you i would shoot it as soon as you see it, an i doubt insects become tame
@nssurge Or you could NOT be an asshole and just leave it be. And bees have been domesticated for a long time so much that they are now classified as livestock. Also, as a side note, ever hear of a silver fox? They've been domesticating them since the 1950s. They are friendlier with humans, put their ears down (like dogs), wag their tails when happy, and have begun to vocalize and bark like domesticated dogs. Get your facts straight.
@invaderzimrules132 where do you live, because in the uk its classed as a varmint by most people, i know, it eats your chickens, your cats, and pheasants that are being bred, theres also big difference between a silver fox and a red fox
@nssurge ok first off, foxes are extremely closely related to dogs and cats so even though they're a different species it's not beyond them to become domesticated by humans. Secondly, i have no idea where u got "natural energy" from but that has nothing to do with anything; and lastly, I know insects arn't tame, but they can be pets non the less...
@nssurge ok, that makes more sense, but your still wrong on foxes being a humans natural enemy....there are not "enemies" in the circle of life! :D haha/ and to answer ur question, no I don't have chickens, I do have a fox den in my backyard though :P
@itadakimasu101 ahh well if there not causing your or your neighbours trouble then do what you wish, if it was on my land though it would alot different ;)
@GalooGameLady Typically it's not good to feed wild animals because it can cause them to rely on humans, instead of on what they naturally are meant to. They might approach people they aren't familiar with, which can be dangerous for the people and the animal. It's just not a good idea if they're wild.
an animal will stay for only a few reasons. if not food, then water or shelter or simply for social interaction. the fox knows the garden is safe, so while it's not getting a free meal, it does have a place to rest and cool off.
By the way, you are a braver soul than I. I don't think I'd be able to get quite that close a wild animal no matter how docile it looked. Beautiful animal, though. :)
You should be carefull with these foxes. They are not supposed to be that allowing. Rabies foxes sometimes loses their fear of humans and that is like extreme dangerus. Even if it is not rabies something is wrong the fox should had ran away.
