Weird because actually he is super funny. His delivery here was a little more hyper than usual, but I think he was just trying to amp up the crowd who simply refused to laugh. You could tell he was gesturing and speaking to the band as well in an effort to make the crowd more enthusiastic. Unfortunately, it just didn't work out. He's probably a bit too laid back of a comic for the Conan crowd who is used to crazy antics from the host.

@chrisisvacant Yeah his style is sort of tough to pull off on TV like this. Audiences on talk shows usually give applause breaks which messes up timing (they try to do it once here and he has to cut them off to keep talking). The version of this on Sleepwalk With Me CD, and the rest of the album for that matter, is absolutely hilarious.

rothbern's right; I actually saw the show he's here to promote. The whole story took place several years ago, and his issues with sleepwalking are the main theme of his show. It suffices it say that there's some hindsight involved.

The anecdote is funnier with its setup, as well. It's not his funniest sleepwalking story by far, but come on, Edward Norton's movie was involved. It made sense to bring it up.
