  • Super awesome beat. It would really help us newbs if you would count in before playing it sowly

  • When he was playing it at the end of the groove, did it start on the 4th beat of the bar?

  • The sticking s like RLR K RLR KK FLAM ON HI HAT ND SNARE

  • @TheDrummerboii91 glad ya said that cause my lousy internet connection doesn't allow me to watch the video...i'll probably not do it right anyway --'

  • COMBINE THIS WITH TEDDY CAMPBELL'S FILL HE USES IN MD FEST PERFORMANCE OMG SO SICK (start with this fill and when you go to the toms its RLR (<- first tom ) K RL (<-2nd tom) R (<-floor tom) KKRKRK (<-snare) RL (<-floor tom)

  • still cant do it....fast, slow, in out, up down.....cant.

I have a linear mind set that will simply not feel the groove

  • 0:57 made me dribble, this is beastly! gotta love them niplets

  • RLR KRL RKK (RL)KK ?

  • these drum dept. vids are entertaining but they are not explained very well .. a simple thing they could do ( at least for these linear patterns ) is to just write out the pattern ..superimpose it on the video or put it in the description ... also , count off everything ... dont just bust into it , sometimes the time is not as obvious as the player might think it is

  • that's really cool!

  • Ohhh I got a brand new fill lol

  • my face is unfortunately louder than this... but this is one tasty fill

  • inspired by questlove?

  • love the sound of your snare

  • It is louder than my face!

  • I have to think of it as RLR-KRL-RKK-R/LKK so that it's in triplet in my mind. 1anduh 2anduh 3anduh 4anduh.

  • nice job guy . we appreciate it . thank you

  • wait, so you actually start it from the first Kick?

so it would be: KRL RKK R(L)KK RLR?

  • My face is extremely loud.

  • LOUDER THAN MY FACEE!! great i like it

  • HOLY WHAT THE F** SHIT!

  • what do you got all over your walls? see like it works well and its cheap. please tell me im right

  • Very cool fill and great explanation!

  • hahaha i love the title

  • what snare is that it sounds amazing

  • A favorite of the great Aaron Spears! Nicely played and explained!

  • you play for incubus, right?

  • Nice fill man, thanks, for those things i'm searcing for!

  • i love these lessons, i am so subscribing XD

  • what kind of stricks do you use?...

  • The way you play I could have sworn you were black! :)

  • thats pretty sweet

  • are you using mics??

    what camera are you using?

  • Starting from the 1 rather than from a pickup note, in 3's (1-trip-let etc)...

    KRL - RKK - R+LKK - RLR

    R+L - snare + hihat.

  • Great fill and really nicely played.

Here's a thought: being triplets all the way through, I think it's easier to look at it like this: RLR-KRL-RKK-rLKK. Each cluster represents a triplet group. i.e. 1-trip-let, 2-trip-let, etc, with the rL being a flam played between the hi-hat and snare.

  • good stuff!! what are you using on your walls, where did you buy it and what is it called? does it help with sound proofing and/or muffling?

    interested,

    thanks!

  • Dude you should just use Bonham Triplets. They are so much easier and the sound way better.

  • @Skatehero9700 Or he could be creative and do what he wants to do, instead of what's been done before...

But I suppose you're right, he should just drop everything he's worked hard to develop and do what's already been done. Bonham would be proud...

  • i wish i had a room like that to chill ha. good stuff

  • god damn we want drew

  • hey man i like that lil groove fill, i took it down and played it on my kit. it's pretty cool. Lol i like your comment on your fill " don't do a fill like that, our you'll be kicked out of your band". I so know what your saying, but your a good teacher.

  • damn sick fill thanks

  • thanks

  • Fun!! Subscribed!!

  • DJ ol' Youngin is going to want royalties.

  • Nice job! Thanks for the fill.

  • that snaaaare :O

  • @sk8erboy182 powerstroke 3 batter. hazy 300 reso. makes one sexy snare :]

  • I'm a black guy, and I'm so sick of all these black dudes saying "white guys don't have any rhythm". I've seen more black dudes try to play drums with fills like this and fail horribly. (Not talking professionals mind you) just some "so called" drummers I know that think they are awesome. When it comes to music I don't give a damn what skin color the musician is, I just love the music. :) And FREAKING AWESOME FILL!

  • yeah youguys it really helps to write it out cuz my computer is showin the video choppy so i can hear but dont kno if its l or rs

  • that snare sounds amazing

  • that toms sounds just amazing, are they emepror on batter and ... on resonant?

  • Yeah this is a great little pattern. You can make it a indirect 3/4 poly-style groove! Loving this!

  • Nice!

  • what are on the walls? does it have something to do with sound proofing?

  • awesome bass drum sound, whats in it

  • really nice snare

  • nice bro!! im diggin it

  • better than your mate dru's dumb attempt at a triplet fill. v good.

  • what kind of snare and head is that?

    great lick btw

  • i think it's a remo coated pinstripe.

  • It's a remo powerstroke 3 snare head.

  • @aaron1200123 The snare looks like a Pearl Masters 6.5x14, not sure though. The head is a Remo Coated Powerstroke 3.

  • That sounds great bro. And what did he f*ck up?

  • he doesn't do the fifth bass hit. i think that's what he's talking about?

  • @Bzong what youre hearing the fifth hit i think he plays the 4th one right before it really quickley

  • good

  • Suprisingly, I've actually been playing stuff like this a lot more recently.

  • love the video but could share the entire sticking next time? Just for simplicities sake....:)

  • couldn't this be used as both a groove and a fill? pretty sick, definitely using this in the future :D

  • I love this fill.

  • Tight Chops!!!

  • Wow great beats. Thanks man for sharing keep it up.

  • DRUM DAPARTMENT IS THA SHIT

  • I just see again a huge talent with a normal drumset when other drummers with huge and expensive sets make noise....!sorry I just wanted to say that you opened my mind and helped me think about the groove!!thnx again mate!

p.s sorry for my bad english ...:P I'm from Greece...

  • grooviest drum lessons on youtube!

  • expert village = waste of time on utub

  • these videos are really helpful

thank you so much for making these and please continue to make more.

this beat reminds me of something tomas pridgen would play.

  • thats a nice fill right there nice really open and fluent . A particular fill that you can place in almost any groove.

  • This is great! It's helping tons with my triplets. What's the time signature for this?

  • ちょーGREAT!!!

  • what beat do u start the actual fill during the groove?

  • sticking?

  • RLR K RLR KK R+L(HH and Snare)KK

    Without the brackets:

RLR K RLR KK RL KK

    RInse and repeat!

(Typing this out helped me to understand the pattern more, try writing it out yourself then playing what you read - helps alot!)

  • and.. lol

  • nice, what snare do you use ?

  • now that's a good teacher....great job Briar...

can you play it just one more time really slow :) ...well done sir
