  • Tedder was deputy supreme Ramsey in charge of the navy, Leigh Mallory the air force..Monty in charge of ground...D-Day & Normandy

    85,000 British & Canadians 74,000 Americans landed,,

Harold Alexander supreme commander in the Med & Italy campaign..

Battle of Atlantic a British show... Admirals Percy Noble & Max Horton together fuelled victory

Brits sank 600 German U boats while US sank 100!

  • Who defeated Japan? Thats right the USA did. Great Britian couldn't beat Japan if there lives depended on it. Viva USA para siempre!!!!!!

  • @TheDannyboy55 Actually, I think you'll find that the 14th British Army had a major role in the defeat of Japan. The Forgotten Army, as is its nickname, kept hundreds of thousand of Japanese Troops occupied in Burma and India, decisively defeated the Japanese at Kohima and Imphal and in the Battle of Central Burma and captured almost 750,000 Japanese Troops. Of course the US had the main role in the Pacific and Asian theater but the British were hardly bystanders who contributed nothing.

  • @TheDannyboy55 The British Empire could have defeated the Japs easy, However in 1941 the British were fighting a world war in Europe,Africa,Mid-east and there Navy,Air-force,Armies were in the West fighting the European Axis powers who were far superior to the savage Japs. If the British Navy wasnt busy they could have defeated the Jap navy, If British forces were not busy in the West, Then Britain could starve Japan by British-Asia, And invade by British colonies near China,Pacific easy!

  • @martynrobin121 ohh and we weren't fighting in Europe???? your argument is so flawed. We were fighting the Nazis as well, and we still manged to defeat the Japanese. ohhh and by the way you guys lost almost every battle against the Japaneseas well as all of your colonies, so don't give me this nonsense about your navy. USA defeated Japan not Great Britain.

  • @TheDannyboy55 The U.S arrived in the war late, When Britain,Soviets had the Axis on the run and it was certain the Allies would win after Al Alamein,Stalingrad. The U.S also lost battles against the Japs, I seem to remember Phillipines humiliation. Yes, The British lost battles against the Japs, Due to the Fact there forces were fighting ALONE in Europe,Africa,Mid-East. However the British defeated the Japs in Asia, It was the Allies who defeated the Japs, Britain gave you the bomb remember!!

  • @martynrobin121 wow bro, you guys were on the defensive in 1941. You were by no means winning the war, that's just wishful thinking on your part. The USA did not win the European front, but Great Britain was losing the war with Germany before the US entered. Ohhh and by the way you seem to forget that you guys were bankrupt at the time and it was the USA who was supplying Britain. ohh and it was German scientists who developed the bomb bro, not Brits!!!!!

  • @TheDannyboy55 The U.S forces arrived end of 1942, When the British had humiliated the Axis in Africa, And the Axis campaign was over, Monty had the defeated Axis forces trapped. So much for losing the war, Also it was impossible to even invade Britain, defeating the British Empire is just foolish! And Britain traded with the U,S. It was in the your best interests to make sure didnt agree to any peace talks. And it was Britain who went 2 the U.S with plans of A-Bomb just research.......

  • @TheDannyboy55 ....The Japanese army suffered their biggest defeat of the war when they were routed in Burma by the British 14th Army under General Slim.

  • Eisenhower was a glory hunter.

  • GSTQ LLE

  • Gen. Eisenhower had NEVER seen military action, yet he constantly questioned Montys plans and nagged him for military gains on the western front, which basical hindered the entire war, Eisenhower even tried to get Churchill to relive him of his command, Patten and Eisenhower took credit for much of the war, if you watch tv programmes about the war you will see Monty made out to be a hopless General who was behind the failed Op. Market garden, not the tactical geuius he was....US propaganda

  • @sikmiXXX

What you are saying is probably the truth. Thanks for the info.

However this idea about Eisenhower and Patton taking credit for much of the war over Montgomery is a bit secondary since as far as the German Army was concerned the Eastern Front was the main front of the war. On D-day for instance, there were 60 German divisions in France compared to the over 230 German divisions being bogged down on the Eastern Front the very same day. Where was the German army annihilated again?

  • @McLarenMercedes yes i am not disputing the fact that the russians basically won the war they launched an offensive that put overlord to shame....

  • @sikmiXXX and you saw how many russians died now that was just half of the german army with out the US beating down the west 100% of the german army would roll all over the russains 50% of the german army almost beat the russian this is why staillin was moving his factorys east now the whole bite of the german would have burned down moscow

  • Monty.... underrated by the Americans.....overrated by the Brits.

  • @cf80to01 you have described every general.

  • bemused are you as to rommel rather than monte,

well rommel stood up to hitler for his professional position, where`s as monte being the better leader, let an unseasoned yank, crush him in political leadership,as a better man he should have fucked the yank off,but he didnt,at no risk to his life ,rommel didnt have that luxury

  • Wow your grip on pre war British and European history is as stunningly accurate as your understanding of contemporary British society. Have you studied to be an arrogant twat or is it a

    genetic gift.

  • Montgomery grovelled to Eisenhower who immediately noted that Montgomery needed a 'strong immdeiate commander" and noted that Montgomery "loved the limelight". Even Churchill stated that Montgomery fought a "half-hearted" war. Montgomery talked to Eisenhower as though he were a child where Eisenhower reminded Montgomery that he was his boss. All Montgomery really cared about was being the allied Supreme Commander to elevate his ego. His ego and slowness to act cost american lives to be lost.

  • 7514328

What other made crap are you dreaming up to post on this channel. You provide a good laugh!

  • War is hell. Your beloved Neville Chamberlaine learned one thing. Never appease your enemy. Check out the Munich agreement. By the way, do you have a driver license, yet?

  • Hell is having to put up with the thoughts of opinionated fools.

  • Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain grovelled to Hitler. Czechoslavakia had the best Czech troops in all of Europe. Instead of allying with them, Chamberlain appeased Hitler with the Munich Agreement where Hitler and his Nazi's invaded it while Britain did nothing. Churchill was outraged. Now you are occupied with high taxes and no freedoms. UK full of racist and non-conforming immigrants, thugs and gangs. UK still appeases! US wont save you this time!!!!!!

  • @7514328 i've seen how the U.S "saves" countries, vietnam, iraq you know what the world could do without your saving.

  • @Immortal4Aday you say that now but with out us you good sir would be speaking german

  • @frostyguns55 no without the combined efforts of the allies the world would be speaking german, america had a massive impact on the outcome of WWII but to think you single handedly won the war is ridiculous also britian ruled the 18 and 19 century, america has ruled the 20th however i hope you are prepared to accept that you are not going to rule the 21st asia is the new superpower like it or not.

  • @Immortal4Aday do tell me how you would have broken normandy with out the US how even more russian would have died with out hte US's help so not only would the russians be fighting german on one front but japs on anther don't get me worng the US didn't do all the work but come on man with out hte US the would would look look alot differnt with out hte US the germans would have gotten a A bomb now think if the US was to help the germans like we almost did the brits would have been fucked

  • @frostyguns55 i am sorry when i said "America had a massive impact on the outcome of the war" you obviously thought i said america did noting it is a common mistake.

  • @7514328 US did not save us last time so what are you talking about? RAF saved us from invasion a whole year before America got of its arse! We owe the men of the RAF, some Commonwealth airmen along with Czech and poles, and that is the sum total of our thanks. All U.S really did was help US liberate continental Europe. And even then U.S forces were outnumbered by Brits or Commonwealth troops,U.S had to use Brit landing craft, ships and British invented supply lines CONT

  • @7514328 CONT.....Like the mulbury harbours, P.L.U.T.O (pipeline under the ocean). They also relied very heavily on other British inventions, like the mine clearing flail tanks, bridge laying vehicles ect, which whilst watching the testing of said devices the yanks frowned upon until realising their effectiveness. Without all of the above the invasion would have been much later and much harder. More serviceable ports would need to be captured, because of the mulbury's this wasn't required.

  • @7514328 If Eisenhower noted that Montgomery needed a "strong immediate commander" then he completely failed in delivering it. Eisenhower proved totally incapable of exerting any control over Montgomery at all. Monty never saw Eisenhower as his commander and argued with him constantly. That's not how a subordinate with a strong immediate commander would behave. Monty treated Eisenhower like a naughty schoolboy which was totally different to the respect and somewhat fear he held in Alanbrooke.

  • @7514328 Furthermore Montgomery never wanted to be SHAEF. He wanted to be Allies Land Forces Commander under SHAEF. The difference being that SHAEF was a mainly political job while Allied Land Forces was totally military. Eisenhower held both offices in reality but often neglected the Allied Land Forces Commander role to the detriment of the Allies.

  • monty was a good general, but also quite the bitch. it was his job to supply patton fuel and gas and he did not ON PURPOSE which ended up with many american casualties. if he wasnt so busy competing with patton lots more people would have survived ON BOTH SIDES

  • Monty and Patton were both brave, and both the best the UK and America had. In truth Patton was the only good general the US had. Monty wanted to beat the Soviets to Berlin, he was overly ambitious in truth. Eisenhower let the Soviets do the work and that saved the Allies lives. Bradley got the US troops slaughtered on at least two occasions.

  • I would have to disagree. You are forgetting the Pacific war. I also think Eisenhower did a good job.

  • Eisenhower did a good job, glad you agree. The Pacific front was against a smaller and weaker enemy. Much easier in truth.

  • weaker yes, but island hopping is not easy. it is actually tougher than you think. Those islands are heavily fortified and there were a lot of them. Two atom bombs were used because of this.

  • The Island hopping was not easy but the Japanese were not at the same level as the Germans. Italy and Japan were similar in equipment.

  • @Renagade1325 It wasn't Montgomery's job to supply Patton. Montgomery was Commander 21st Army Group while Patton was Commander US 3rd Army. Monty not only outranked Patton but commanded a much larger force. Furthermore Patton was part of Omar Bradley's 12th Army Group and got his supplies at Bradley's discression. Monty didn't regard Patton as a rival at all, Patton wasn't even on Monty's radar, Monty spent most of his time in Northern Europe arguing with Eisenhower, not competing with Patton.

  • @Renagade1325 Also, it was Patton and Bradley's refusal to halt for even a week or two that left Market Garden undersupplied in both material and manpower. They insisted on following through with attacks into the Hurtgen Forrest and the Lorraine region despite there being no clear advantage to be had at that time and the result of this bloodymindedness to continue advancing no matter what was 33,000 men dead in the Hurtgen Forrest and 35,000 men dead around Metz.

  • Why isn't Monty refered to by his proper rank. Field Marshal!

  • He was promoted after the invasion.

  • Whoops my bad, just double checked he was promoted after Eisenhower took command of ground forces and he was shunted to the 21st army.

  • I had just seen a programme on bbc 2 :P

  • same here, D day to Berlin by any chance.

  • Comment removed

  • That's the one. They said he got the promotion to boost his moral

  • Oh didn't see that bit, I checked on Wikipedia after your comment.

  • The PIAT was not as good as the Bazooka or Panzerfaust.

  • General Montgomery and Mr Marco Pizzorno are the great men of Peace .

arco Pizzorno is an italian man of Avellino , but we trust in his work for Peace. God save the Queen and UK

  • Monty was so overrated.

  • That was the line in saving private ryan.

  • Montgomery got the Allies to the Seine

    90 days ahead of schedule.
