Phoebus: no baby she bewitched me! No! it's true and now i'm going to sentence her tot death so she won't tell a different story! I still love you! I do and all those hookers behind you..wel those are just...friends???
Did anyone else noticed that in this song Phobus yes, shorts out the other girls, but always at the last moment turns his head and goes on? I am not a big fan, but I think it's possible that at this point really understood that he loves Fleur-de-Lys. In the end he did not go with anyone else.
i love how she turns around with a look in her eye like she's about to stab him through the heart!!! and whats the point of the bending backwards i never got it?
Tant pis. Moi j'dis 'Fuck off, Phoebus', je me tire avec Quasimodo (Et Gringoire *v*) Euh, aux moins, ils sont pas comme toi !
Maybe I'm missing the whole point, but if I were Fleur-de-lys, I'd kill him. Maybe not literally kill him, but certainly (at the very least) refuse to take him back.
I love this performance of the song because he's telling Fleur he wants her back as he's all over other girls lol a perfect portrayal of unfaithful men.
I really love this song, but the italian version I think it's moooore beautiful..les mots qu'il dit...ah..phoebus..I hated him for so long years ago.. but now... the italian version has a phatos that this one never will..
@crystallinegirl Esmeralda did NOT stab Phoebus. They were about to have sex, and for a split second, she saw a dark man standing above them with a knife. If you watch the scene in the musical, you'll see a huge shadow above them of someone with a knife. Later, it is revealed that it was Frollo that stabbed Phoebus - but the point is, Esmeralda would never, ever think to do such a thing. She loves him.
@crystallinegirl No he doesnt think that, he is a captain and engaged he cant have it known that he was going to sleep with a gypsy, but he is a man whore and will sleep with whatever. Fleur de lys has money as well making her more hmm loveable. And she accepts him because everyone knows Phoebus' reputation and knows she slept with him. No one wants someone "un clean"...
Kinda makes me sick how Phoebus got ahead of everyone else in here. The gypsy dies, the Priest dies, the bell ringer dies....and yet the pinhead lives.
Phoebus means sun! Ummmm.....actually it's a combination of "feeble" and "doofus." Grrrrrr. I despise Phoebus. He's more of a monster than Frollo in my opinion. His voice is still amazing though...
Pheobus did the smart thing, because if he doesn't lie he'll lose Fleur... but he sentenced an innocent girl to death to save himself from a tiny bit of shame. WOW.
Did anybody else notice how he's like hugging all those prostitutes as he goes up to Fleur-de-lys? It's like, don't mind me going out with all these people, I still love you.
Phoebus: I still love you
Fleur: Really?
Phoebus: Of course (Just like I told these other people)
@venussaur I think it was symbolism. He was touching temptation but didn't give in like he did with Esmerellda. He is trying to prove to Fleur-De-Lys (Who is at the end which is symbolising the light at the end) that he is new.
@EnchantedMagickLove Agreed I think fact he's touching the girls is a sign he's not serious. He's looking at Fleur so appearing to only want her but his hand is wandering elsewhere. If he was a completely legitimate guy he wouldn't have touched them at all and just walked straight past them all till he reached her.
@venussaur I can't decide if his touching the prostitutes represents his continued unfaithfulness, or if he's supposed to be rejecting them, in that he moves past each of them to stop at Fleur-de-lys.
oh so wat ever happened to ur Flor de lyse Je ne suis pas un homme de confiance and let me be unfaithful before we marry crap...ha i kinda like this song

What an idiot. Everybody knows he's in love with Esmeralda, even Phoebus himself. What's he doing with Fleur-de-lys anyway ! Hugo's the best but he clearly made a mistake here :P
Phoebus is not in love with Esmeralda, he only wanted to sleep with her and then he would have dropped her like a hot potato. He knows that he wants to spend the rest of his life with Fleur-de-lys, thats why he is trying to win her back.
Thank God, that he comes to his senses. He and Fleur-de-lys are great together.
Of course, Phoebus, of course, let's give all the blame to a little naive gypsy girl who loves you as an angel or as a god. Of course it's her fault. oh, these men!!!
This is probably my favorite (if not one of) songs, other than Belle. It's just so romantic and sexy (although Patrick helps with that hah). Even if Phoebus is a jerk, he's a charmer!
Pff. Pas d'goût! Qu'il me frustre! Pis il dit qu'Esméralda l'a ensorcelé... Tss.

oooh, i get it. I was just assuming because I wasn
t entirely sure on how Fleur really felt about Phoebus. But you're right, both Phoebus and esme only saw each other on the outside. Plus I don't think either of those girls deserve Phoebus.(notice how he goes directly for the girls in front of him rather than to Fluer right away if her was choosing her)
Actually now that you say it i wonder did Fleur de Lys love Phoebus i'm going to say yes but i don't know why there's not enough evidence in the novel to support my answer so i'll just say yes
this is a good song but I can't stand the character of Phoeubs and i commend Hugo for doing something new with litreature (making the ugly person the protaganist and the handsome person the antagonist well one of the antagonists)
Vraiment ? ^^
sexist much.try to pull ur big head out of ur made up world and realise teh importants of being equal.. u idot phoebus is the only one who could actually save er
Yeah, well that's exactly WHY patoutou05 says that he's a bastard. Because he COULD but DIDN'T. I don't what Phoebus is like in the book, but I prefer to think of him the Disney way, because this one is just...sick like hell !!!
He's good as hell, but I totally HATE Phoebus... He only wants more and more women: in that way, I have pity of Fleur-de-lys, she hasn't a very faithful husband!

I love Patrick Fiori !!! :)

This is probably my favorite (if not one of) songs, other than Belle. It's just so romantic and sexy (although Patrick helps with that hah). Even if Phoebus is a jerk, he's a charmer!

je parle de la versio italienne
claire581 3 years ago
claire581 3 years ago 4
menaples 3 years ago
SeiraVonKarma 3 years ago 2
PioggiaNelVento 3 years ago
menaples 3 years ago 2
ma che orrore vedono i miei occhi???
ma che cavolo di recitazione è questa???
insomma!
XXXavavavaXXX 3 years ago

Pff. Pas d'goût! Qu'il me frustre! Pis il dit qu'Esméralda l'a ensorcelé... Tss.

This comment has received too many negative votes show

very pretty song, as long as you don't get pissed at phoebus.

whoops, I meant to say "he" at "he was choosing her".
joyhorse13 3 years ago
omg Phoebu, what are you doing you ASSHOLE?! Why didn't you go with Essie?! She probably loves you alot more
joyhorse13 3 years ago
no she only saw his beauty she was blind to the rest of him and he only saw her beauty it would not work out for both of them
Quasimodo was the only one who saw inside Esméralda and yet she did not see inside him
it's a very ironic story in more ways then one.
donfrollo2 3 years ago
oooh, i get it. I was just assuming because I wasn
t entirely sure on how Fleur really felt about Phoebus. But you're right, both Phoebus and esme only saw each other on the outside. Plus I don't think either of those girls deserve Phoebus.(notice how he goes directly for the girls in front of him rather than to Fluer right away if her was choosing her)
joyhorse13 3 years ago
it's ok i see what you mean.
Actually now that you say it i wonder did Fleur de Lys love Phoebus i'm going to say yes but i don't know why there's not enough evidence in the novel to support my answer so i'll just say yes
donfrollo2 3 years ago
this is a good song but I can't stand the character of Phoeubs and i commend Hugo for doing something new with litreature (making the ugly person the protaganist and the handsome person the antagonist well one of the antagonists)

sexist much.try to pull ur big head out of ur made up world and realise teh importants of being equal.. u idot phoebus is the only one who could actually save er
KRISTIANOO7 3 years ago
Yeah, well that's exactly WHY patoutou05 says that he's a bastard. Because he COULD but DIDN'T. I don't what Phoebus is like in the book, but I prefer to think of him the Disney way, because this one is just...sick like hell !!!
Sayaka1537 3 years ago 5
@Sayaka1537 Phoebus in the book is the same in here. I agree with you though, I'll take Disney's Phoebus and Disney's Esmeralda any day.

Wow! That is some talent he has there. Singing about his infedelity and yet touch girls at the same time. Amazing!

He's good as hell, but I totally HATE Phoebus... He only wants more and more women: in that way, I have pity of Fleur-de-lys, she hasn't a very faithful husband!
