It disgusts me how underrated they've made rivaldo compared to zidane, at least in the UK. Both are greats of the game, but for some reason people wanted to hate or just forget about rivaldo, particularly after the "diving" incident against turkey (where he was actually taking the piss in a game there the turkish players had been diving constantly).

to those who try to compare him with Ronaldo, remember that R9 used to play in an area of the pitch often more crowded, thus harder to play. He had the bad chance of his injuries. One is afraid to think what R9 would have achieved if he had a normal career. Rivaldo is great, but nobody did or will do what Ronaldo did, in so tight spaces. No one was more letal in front of a golly.

@HymanKaplan Agree, he was more versatile than Zidane. His problem was that he always played among other great players and he was sharing ball more than Zidane. Rivaldo was a true playmaker, defender and score machine in one man. Zidane stood apart because his teammates at club level and even in national team were not as great as him.
