  • Reageren op deze video... i didn`t look the whole video before replying. i thought they were talking bout the normal cranes. now i`ve seen the whole video i must appologise for wrongly answering the question if these new cranes are used anywhere. NO they are not in service yet. sorry!!!

  • There was a recent interview with Angelo de Jong, the creator of the idea. (in Dutch - search for the title "Innovatieve containerkraan" here to find the video)

Here's the commercial video of FastNET, developed by us (BHP Solutions Design), together with IFS Audiovisueel. (search for "BHP FastNET" here to find it)

Angelo says in the interview that it is not built yet, but basically is very eager to see it built. As he states "An idea only stays an idea, until it's really built".

  • No, the idea of Fastnet is not used yet, it's just a design...

  • I like it, you are eliminating lots of safety issues. Gantrying the crane all occurs above with no danger of running someone over. I wonder what the overall effect to maintenance is.

  • Are any of these in operation yet?

  • @wisper6419 yes, in rotterdam since 2004, APM terminals all over the world will have m soon. also other terminals use m already

  • @dianamartijn These cranes are not being used in Rotterdam, nor by any other terminal in the world.
