This was great. This song's a classic and they stayed true to the original. Some bands screw with the arrangement, either because they're disrespectful or (more likely) because they don't have the musical ability to play it right. But not these boys, they are talented.

That fact that he had to read the lyrics suggests he wasn't too familiar with the song. But they seem to be the kind of band that prefers to share the lead singing duties, so it's cool.
well even springsteen has lyrics in front of him during born to run...and he's been performing it for over 35 years...plus it's a live recording...don't want to ruin something that sounds good, sometimes a song never becomes a hit because the published take didn't have the musical "magic"
I've seen Springsteen live numerous times and watched countless performances of Born to Run on video - and I've never yet seen Springsteen have to read the lyrics. If you have evidence to the contrary then please share it because I think it is baloney.

It just doesn't have the passion, emotion or meaning of the original. I mean, it's the Boss! He put so much feeling into the "Baby, I'm just a scared and lonely rider"line, whereas McFly just completely gloss over it! Far too sugary.

i agree people always say mcfly are rubbish, but mcfly are one of the decent bands out there. they write all their own songs and when they perform them live absolutely amazing.
Their fans listen to them. And of course they play their own songs! They have four albums complete with songs they've wrote and produced themselves. You dont have to like them but you dont have to say that they dont play their own songs. And it was only one cover they released as a single, the rest of singles were their own and they only play some of the cover songs on tour or as b-sides to singles. And seeing as how they sell out arenas, you cant say that no one listens to their songs can you?
They DON'T sell out arenas, I saw their wembley concert. Compared to how that stadium looked when Queen filled it, it was like only the band mates parents showed up to watch them play. And, if they play mostly their own songs, how come they have an entire wikipedia section devoted to how many covers they do?
Come on, Queen were like one of the most popular bands ever, there arent many bands that do fill up a stadium like Queen. And its not like Wikipedia is exactly reliable. If you saw their wembley concert then you'll know that obviously they do play their own songs as there was only one cover of that tour. Every tour they do one or two covers in a set and thats it.
This is one of McFlys' best cover if not their best. I actually posted this on the Backstreet forum (Backstreet's a Springsteen site for those of you that don't know) and about two thirds of the fans on there said this cover was satisfactory or good. And a lot of the fans that said it was rubbish couldn't provide a suitable argument to back it up. So while you're moe than entitled to your opinion, you're quite possibly in the minority here.

It just doesn't have the passion, emotion or meaning of the original. I mean, it's the Boss! He put so much feeling into the "Baby, I'm just a scared and lonely rider"line, whereas McFly just completely gloss over it! Far too sugary.

i agree people always say mcfly are rubbish, but mcfly are one of the decent bands out there. they write all their own songs and when they perform them live absolutely amazing.

Their fans listen to them. And of course they play their own songs! They have four albums complete with songs they've wrote and produced themselves. You dont have to like them but you dont have to say that they dont play their own songs. And it was only one cover they released as a single, the rest of singles were their own and they only play some of the cover songs on tour or as b-sides to singles. And seeing as how they sell out arenas, you cant say that no one listens to their songs can you?

They DON'T sell out arenas, I saw their wembley concert. Compared to how that stadium looked when Queen filled it, it was like only the band mates parents showed up to watch them play. And, if they play mostly their own songs, how come they have an entire wikipedia section devoted to how many covers they do?

Come on, Queen were like one of the most popular bands ever, there arent many bands that do fill up a stadium like Queen. And its not like Wikipedia is exactly reliable. If you saw their wembley concert then you'll know that obviously they do play their own songs as there was only one cover of that tour. Every tour they do one or two covers in a set and thats it.

This is one of McFlys' best cover if not their best. I actually posted this on the Backstreet forum (Backstreet's a Springsteen site for those of you that don't know) and about two thirds of the fans on there said this cover was satisfactory or good. And a lot of the fans that said it was rubbish couldn't provide a suitable argument to back it up. So while you're moe than entitled to your opinion, you're quite possibly in the minority here.

Pretty good, except for when the lead guy turns into Billie Joe Armstrong when he's singing.
That's not to say that it even approaches Springsteen's version. I'm from Jersey, man; I'm with the Boss all the way.
