I'm getting my new Imac 21.5 with I7, 2.8 processor and I'm moving from my old Dell 8100. And I haven't been this excited in years. I watch these videos and and it's amazing to me the things that you can do with them and the ease of doing things. I get my new Imac on the 18th from the States indirectly because Apple won't sell me direct for fear of what I can do with it from Costa Rica. Bummer! Hey I'm a UCLA grad and an American citizen. Mac is known for simplicity. PC is more complicated than Mac, and if you know what you're doing you can get more out of it... but Linux is the most complicated and gives the most.
If you're simple, then go for a mac (a form of pc). If you're technically smart, then a windows pc if better suited for you. I think mac's blow, but that's just me cause I like playing games.

I am in the process of doing this. I bought a G5 off eBay in september and I was shocked at how OSX actually was. I love the speed of the core i5/windows 7 cpu I built but it has just been so peaceful using the mac.
My tax return has Macbook Pro written all over it, windows will be banned from my house next month.

Maybe even that MACs save more space due to its small and slick design... Apple should make OSX available to Windows users..who play on a"PC"

The ONLY argument they have that is based on any kind of objective reality is "macs don't get viruses" (although they do, there aren't as many viruses that infect macs) but it becomes a moot point once you get a decent anti-virus program.
I have ubuntu 10 on my laptop, and my advice would be to forget it as it uses more battery power than windows ultimate 7 with the same brightness.
Not to bash on OS X but Mac's have awful hardware for the price.
OEM hardware is cheaper, performs better and much easier to replace and repair. The only real advantage of going Apple is the lack of driver issues and the look of the device(which no techie will care about).
@thefifthlord1 somebodys gonna scream at me for this but they have good hardware. there is no pc out there thats 15 inches big with an i5, 330m and 8 hours of battery out there under an inch thick. The macbook pro 15 is getting kinda old and still, no pc is quite there in terms of power, battery and size.

Hell no, I've used both for months and windows is far superior to Mac for my needs right now. I felt as though I narrowed my horizons when I used a Mac. Vista almost made me change my mind but Windows 7 quickly fixed that.
Don't be sheepish, make the switch to Mac now. It's a myth to say Macs are more expensive than traditional "PC's". It's not about the cost, it's about where you want to put that cost. Macs have amazing resale value. AMAAAZING. You buy a Mac today for $2000, you'll probably be able to sell that Mac for $1500 in three years time. You try doing that with a Windows PC. The whole world is switching to Mac, so there has never been a better time to join the Mac family. Microsoft is dead, as is Windows.

Hackintosh is the best, run OSX on any machine, for 1/3 the price, and it runs rather well, I may do it eventually, when I work up the time and craving for it.
If Microsoft and Apple make a deal that they will produce a new computer with a whole different software that works 50% mac and 50% windows. If they do that that computer will be beast and beat all.

I switched 2 years ago from XP and i love it. my sister who uses vista hates it and when windows 7 came out, it was just a pattened version of vista, same crap, spyware this virus that. I get things done so much faster with my macbook :)
I contemplated seriously about getting an iMac-not to spite existing mac users,but it's software and hardware limitations coupled with the ridiculous pricing is illogical to me.
I'm strongly in favor of possessing full control over my computer, I need to have at least partial access to BIOS, I need performance hardware at logical prices, and lastly I INSIST on excellent customer warranty policies(look up XFX exchange policy).
I'm not 100% satisfied with Win OS, but it serves all my ends fully.

i went from a long line of PC's to a mac mini i got in '05 that just broke on me (my fault, messed up a processor upgrade & broke the motherboard) & in '07 i got a pc because i missed them to an extent but it broke a year later. now my next mini is on its way & im stuck using my moms acer desktop until tomorrow. id have to say get a pc for business use or gaming use (cheaper for more performance), or get a mac if you want a better daily use computer.
Or you could just get a PC and install a linux OS on it... because it's cheaper and less vulnerable then mac is. There are also many amazing free and open source software out there for linux. I like building machines. I like using them and bending them to my will. I'd never consider apple.
my mini is on the way right now, got it new with snow leopard for $580. not trying to argue & say one is better than the other, just saying that if your budget is $500, it might be worth it to save up another $80. has a 2.26 intel core 2 duo prcessor, 2gb ddr3 ram (which ill upgrade to 4gb soon myself), & a 160gb hdd. well worth it to me for the os itself.

I decided not waste any money and get Linux. Now I can exploit my computers speed without so much silly things and still run my windows programs through WINE.

@reetrulez Not taking it personally, I just want to know why you prefer Mac, Linux pwns all tho, I am multibooting XP, 7, Ubuntu and DOS, you can use WINE on Linux so I can run stuff from Windows, notice on the quiz machines in pubs normally run on Linux because it doesn't crash, I haven't had any problems with Ubuntu, on Windows it gives me errors from time to time or maybe a BSOD, but it's usually fixable as it gives a detailed error code, on OSX it gives me an error with no info so I'm fuckd.
Tried mac OS X, but there's nothing about it that makes me want it over Windows Vista. And considering Vista is far from perfect, I can't wait till Windows 7 comes out. Plus with all the free programs available online, Vista can do everything OS X can do and a hell of a lot more. To me the biggest problem with Macs is the price...if they weren't selling midrange hardware for top dollar, I'd maybe consider buying one. I say fuck Apple...I'm sticking with Microsoft.

Yeah, I agree except with the Mac Pro. You get ripped off for the best computer money can buy. If you say super computers are better, keep in mind they are clusters of regular computers connected together to make a super computer.
And also I realise people say mac's are expensive, but you are paying for a standard. Sure you can get a PC seriously cheap but it's gonna be a pile of junk. For a PC that competes atleast at the same standard as a mac to make a fair comparison it's going to cost alot more than a mac.

I just purchased my first mac today for college, I've buckled because in the past I wast opposed to mac because of the price mainly, however after all my PCs (not cheap ones $1000+ models, and from multiple OEMs) had constant hardware failures, I've decided to just give macs a try.
I would rather have Microsoft and brand name windows software rather then trusting "cold pizza software", growl, bleeppblop, i-snot or candy bar etc.lol what a jolk.
I switched back to windows. Tried Mac for a year got sick of low capatability, horrible performance, unstable OSX and just not being able to use any software or games.
I love both Macintosh and Windows.

I switched 2 years ago from XP and i love it. my sister who uses vista hates it and when windows 7 came out, it was just a pattened version of vista, same crap, spyware this virus that. I get things done so much faster with my macbook :)

I contemplated seriously about getting an iMac-not to spite existing mac users,but it's software and hardware limitations coupled with the ridiculous pricing is illogical to me.
I'm strongly in favor of possessing full control over my computer, I need to have at least partial access to BIOS, I need performance hardware at logical prices, and lastly I INSIST on excellent customer warranty policies(look up XFX exchange policy).
I'm not 100% satisfied with Win OS, but it serves all my ends fully.

i went from a long line of PC's to a mac mini i got in '05 that just broke on me (my fault, messed up a processor upgrade & broke the motherboard) & in '07 i got a pc because i missed them to an extent but it broke a year later. now my next mini is on its way & im stuck using my moms acer desktop until tomorrow. id have to say get a pc for business use or gaming use (cheaper for more performance), or get a mac if you want a better daily use computer.

Or you could just get a PC and install a linux OS on it... because it's cheaper and less vulnerable then mac is. There are also many amazing free and open source software out there for linux. I like building machines. I like using them and bending them to my will. I'd never consider apple.

my mini is on the way right now, got it new with snow leopard for $580. not trying to argue & say one is better than the other, just saying that if your budget is $500, it might be worth it to save up another $80. has a 2.26 intel core 2 duo prcessor, 2gb ddr3 ram (which ill upgrade to 4gb soon myself), & a 160gb hdd. well worth it to me for the os itself.

@reetrulez Not taking it personally, I just want to know why you prefer Mac, Linux pwns all tho, I am multibooting XP, 7, Ubuntu and DOS, you can use WINE on Linux so I can run stuff from Windows, notice on the quiz machines in pubs normally run on Linux because it doesn't crash, I haven't had any problems with Ubuntu, on Windows it gives me errors from time to time or maybe a BSOD, but it's usually fixable as it gives a detailed error code, on OSX it gives me an error with no info so I'm fuckd.

Relatively, neither PCs nor Macs are entirely better than the other.
PCs are better for gamers, because they're the maintstream and most companies produce their games to be suited for them.
Macs are better for businesses, because being the minority, less people are interested in making viruses for them.
The whole fucking argument is stupid though, seeing as how there are wars and injustice steaming across the world.

Tried mac OS X, but there's nothing about it that makes me want it over Windows Vista. And considering Vista is far from perfect, I can't wait till Windows 7 comes out. Plus with all the free programs available online, Vista can do everything OS X can do and a hell of a lot more. To me the biggest problem with Macs is the price...if they weren't selling midrange hardware for top dollar, I'd maybe consider buying one. I say fuck Apple...I'm sticking with Microsoft.

I've used Windows, Ubuntu and OS X.... I like them all, but I didnt enjoy the Ubuntu experience but I guess I'm just not that type of user. I myself prefer the OS X environment over the Windows but I love both the same.

I just purchased my first mac today for college, I've buckled because in the past I wast opposed to mac because of the price mainly, however after all my PCs (not cheap ones $1000+ models, and from multiple OEMs) had constant hardware failures, I've decided to just give macs a try.
