9bahai9 I went to the House of the Bab in '74. The gardens were in full bloom and the whole place was so beautiful and peaceful! I was getting over the flu at the time but it was a magnificent place and I loved it! It was the place where the Baha'i Era and the Baha'i Cycle began and it's mark was imprinted on the walls. I hate to think of the destiny in store for those who destroyed it. May God forgive them.
Following the execution of the Bab on July 9, 1850, many thousands of His followers were also persecuted and executed. One of His followers, Husayn Ali, titled Baha'u'llah (the Glory of God) by the Bab Himself, was wrongly arrested in 1852, and exiled to Baghdad, Iraq, in 1853 to April 1863; to Adrianople and Constantinople, and, ultimately, to 'Akka, Palestine (now Israel) where He ascended as a prisoner-in-exile in 1892.
