This is the way the Chinese eat rice, by sucking it in while it's hot, the only problem is they often choke on it if the rice doesn't stop at the tongue, and goes in the wrong pipe. My in-laws are Chinese and they choke on rice quite often when I visit them for dinner, aside from seeing them choking I have other disgusting experiences while eating with them. If you want to see proper forms of oriental dinner etiquette try seeing the Japanese version.

Fast tips to make u a chopstick pro in 1 minutes:

Place 1st chopstick(thick end) in crook between the thumb and index finger, and keeping it still at all times.

Then place the another chopstick just like holding a pen, rest the thumb and middle finger a bit.

Finally rotate the 2nd one by the index and middle fingers with the axle of the crook.

Practise it from handling chunks, in no time you'll be expert.

On wikipedia it says parts of Tibet use chop sticks when they are close to a Han Chinese population, meaning that other parts do not. Being an Asian, I have to say I don't bother to hold my chopsticks properly. I hold my chopsticks like placing them in scissors position, making the chopsticks crisscrossed. Few of my family members do notice that I don't hold it the way I should yet I can still pick every grain of rice easily.
